I once had to throw away a full flask at the airport because I forgot I had it in the side water bottle pocket. (which is a perfect location for it) The TSA agent said if I "emptied it" I could keep it.. Suggesting I just drink it right there... while that was super tempting I decided I shouldn't start my first day of vacation in Chicago blasted from 8oz of Jameson at 5:30am. Also, I love my Rhake. I have the first gen MCB and literally ordered my VX in white today. They're doing a 20% off deal which knocks $94 off the retail price. Well worth it folks. Hope this helps anyone considering ordering it. It's a great bag.

Excellent! I especially like your explanation of adjusting the length of the compression straps. That hasn't been shown on other channels yet.

I own both Transit laptop bags. Mission Workshop products are so good when I had the idea I should commute to work by bicycle, I started shopping for their best bag before I even looked at bikes. Yeah their stuff is that good.

Just bought this exact bag for Black Fri.. first MW bag, this review got me super amped up to get it! Great work!

Hey, excellent review! The price for VX and Multicam actually went up and now $475 at MW website. Also quick note - load balancing straps have been removed on the recent Rhakes including VX version. It's nice to see that the inner lining is also different on VX version comparing to a standard and Multicam. Cheers!

What a great review!

My thermos actually fell out when I was commuting with my motorcycle. The shake on a motorbike could be much stronger especially if you live in places that have badly paved roads. RIP my thermos.

Tedd Arcuri you’re correct. It’s quite supple. WX is nice but it’s a different bag experience ya know? Depends on the use case. I bring my bag everywhere and do everything with it. From work to beach to camping to you name it. WX can hold up of course, it’s the oldest form of waterproofing. But it does require more care (namely re-proofing from time to time) and it of course will patina which may or may not be a desirable trait.

Was wondering if you are going to review the Rhake WX

Love your review and I just bought the black HT500 version online. While waiting I came across your review and was wondering why no one has talked about how the ARKIV railes on the shoulder straps work. Are the ARKIV rails simply hook-n-loop webbings which you can attach the ARKIV pouches to? Thanks!!! Can't wait for your reply.

Fair point. I didn’t mention the Arkiv rails because most every MW bag has them nowadays. I did do a full review of the Arkiv system a while back on their main Arkiv bag, the R6. Arkiv isn’t a hook and loop system but a proprietary system that only works in the MW universe with their own accessories (although there are some hacks). It’s relatively simple and involves sliding Arkiv brackets on the back of the Arkiv accessory (e.g. cell phone pouch) over the nylon strip. m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmd8paeQqcm6aZM.html

I ordered my Rhake WX thanks to inspiration from you. It did not come with the Rhake cobra buckle but if I order it then do you know how the default can be replaced with the cobra buckle one?

AFAIK, you just simply remove the platinum buckles and thread on the Cobra buckles by hand. I do not think any alterations or modifications are required.

What do you think about the the Rhake WX ? And WX fabric compared to the VX ? Is it an upgrade or a complete different thing ? Thanks for your videos man, great work!

WX is completely different. VX is the best fabric you can get. However, for that heritage look, nothing beats WX and its patina that develops over time. However, waxed canvas must be re-waxed at home from time to time.

They should make this bag with Cobra Buckles which feel more robust and solid. The fidlock buckles feel cheap.

Doug Lee hmm. I like the Fidlocks generally but the Cobras on the WX are probably my fav combo. I just love love love the VX interior though.

Also another follow up question. I’m assuming that they still have those cobra buckles available right?

Ronald Fabricante I won’t be reviewing the WX unfortunately as I have the VX and I can’t reasonably justify two Rhakes. I have reviewed many waxed canvas bags however. And yes, you can purchase the Cobra buckles separately

Hi, I would like to know what is the inner lining in that bag that make it waterproof. Actually, is it the lining or is it the vx21 ripstop fabric on the outside making it waterproof? Thx in advance.

Jo Bar the bag is not technically waterproof. It is weatherproof however the materials, both the liner and the VX-21 are waterproof materials.

So again the bag is NOT waterproof. The materials as far as I know are both waterproof however and are VX-21. MW has a page that discusses the fabrics that they use. Might be worth checking out.

How much is the laptop compartment lifted off the bottom?

About a half inch but it’s padded all the way around including the bottom. Total protection.

Karine Tovmassian that warms my heart Karine! May you have a lifetime of enjoyment from it! I love mine and use it everyday. Which one did you go with? VX? WX? HT500?

I hate that Pull Out Water Bottle Holder. The Bag is Beautiful. The Mesh Bottle Holder is Visually Disgusting. Would you want to Wrap your Leather Briefcase in Mosquito Netting at a Board Meeting? It's Strange Material that Lacks Security, and isn't Robust. There has to be a Better Way for the Rhake to Hold Water.
