When Kitridge said that this mission would cost Ethan dearly and we saw Ilsa's face right when he said it, that kinda foreshadowed her death.

"You're fighting to save an idea that doesn't exists. Never did." They should have kept that line from the trailer in the movie itself. Because it is sort of true.

It’s interesting to see they used for the final montage takes different from those in the trailer!

Why tell them he planned to destroy the entity? Why not just tell them he’ll get it FOR THEM and then destroy it?

In my opinion Ethan underestimated the great threat of the entity, he thought it would be easy...

Besides exposition for the audience, Ethan may have wanted to see how Kittridge would react. After 30+ years; he knows how to push Kittridge's buttons. And in this case, he got Kittridge to basically monologue his entire world view and long term plans.Meanwhile, Kittridge has known Ethan for just as long and knows there's no point hiding the ball.

To suit movie plot I guess. Gotta have some action/drama having CIA chased down a rogue IMF operative, whose whole character is pretty much going rogue for the sake of doing the right thing.
