Missing Farmer Dylan Rounds' Alleged Killer Arrested - The Story So Far

Ойын-сауық

Ninteen-year-old Dylan Rounds went missing in May 2022 while working at his farm in Lucin, Utah. Almost a year later, the man accused of killing him was arrested after disturbing evidence was found on the young farmer’s phone, which was recovered from the bottom of a retention pond. Rounds' parents, Justin Rounds and Candice Cooley, spoke to the Law&Crime Network about the investigation leading up to the arrest of James Brenner. Sidebar host Jesse Weber breaks down the Dylan Rounds story so far.

I already posted a comment but would like to add a few words about Dylan. At 19, his dream of having his own farm was becoming a reality for him. Many people at 19 have no idea what they want to do yet. Dylan sounds like he was a well grounded young man who knew as a kid what he wanted, he went out and got it. He was doing something that we all need, growing food. We all lost a great young man who was just living his own life. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

I remember when "HeavyDSparks" (of the Diesel Brothers) from Utah, went with his crew in their equipment looking for Dylan 9 months ago (video posted 9th June 2022). The parents (especially his mum) invited this search of the property, which I recall included searching by helicopter over his entire property. They were so disappointed that the police weren't taking it seriously, and that the Diesel Brothers couldn't find him that day. (It also was restricted air space, so they had to have permission to fly over, & had to fly according to a strict flight path & keep on constant contact with the tower, because the military were doing activity in that region that day.) I recall that his "farm"/ranch looked like desert, not the lush farming area he came from. It was so incredibly sad. What a tragedy... and of course, since his body wasn't found lying on his property somewhere, that it definitely was a murder, with his body buried or hidden somewhere. I'm glad that finally someone has been arrested over this - and the one the parents thought was involved from the start. Wow, the parents had to fight hard for this. And, I just don't get how a squatter is allowed on someone's property (although having said that, squatting the land was a huge part of Australia's history in colonial days, thus the angst between farmers (or miners) & squatters. What a tragic end to such an amazing man's short life. I feel for Dylan's parents & other family members.

In regard to the lengthy wait for an indictment, it's quite possible they only got Dylans phone unlocked recently and found what was in it. No disrespect to the legend himself. But personally, just by what I’ve seen in this video. The guy seems jealous of the kid, considering the things he was saying about him. I don’t think the kid asked him to get off the land, I think he came upon this guy and he just shot him out of jealousy and shame. Because the kid is everything he isn’t. A hard worker, kind, successful, and owns the land that this dude is squating on. I think he showed this guy kindness and he took it as “looking down” on him. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Either way all speculation.

Can we absolutely stop this nonsense of law enforcement not immediately jumping on missing persons reports? Possibly it was the murderer using Dylan’s phone to record the scenario like a ‘trophy’ when people take pictures of wild animals (deer, bear) they’ve killed. Afterwards the killer discarded his phone so he had possession of it at some point, IMO. Their original argument was over squatting on Dylan’s land.
