The selection was perfect as it was elegant, serene, and fit the occasion. I don’t think her doing giddha up there would have fit. I personally thought some of the other dances looked kind of goofy.

o0OHermioneO0o the Mexican one, is la danza del venado and her version was inspired by the Yaquis, it's not very accurate since her eyes should have been covered by a red cloth and her movements are not good either. this dance represents the natives on the prowl for a deer, the maracas are supposed to be the deer's heartbeat which goes up in tempo as the hunters get closer

apple rizi I am from the state of Sonora, the biggest tribe here are the yaquis. I'm not part of the tribe, but my great grandmother from my father's side was yaqui and my grand father from my mom's side was married to a yaqui woman and when he died they buried him according to their tradition

unti.unti ***** Your (ancestors') tribe is one of those that came up in one of our projects! =) It's so nice talking to you! I am from Austria in Europe. I'm from a minority as well, so I was always interested in other minorities. I was so shocked when I found out that indigenous were still treated like second-class citizens in some cases. I couldn't believe that a country like f.e. the US, who likes to play "world police" and "justice league", treated their own natives that way.

I really wish we had an annual global culture festival, like an Olympics for the arts. It's really great to just see people from around the world come together and celebrate each other's history and culture.

@@babagama4232 movie piece or not....She lacked grace by a lot. I felt like she didn't even take time for completing the steps (except the sitting one)...A yaa her dress. The designers should have given her something which is more elegant and easy to carry. It felt like Indians there actually didn't put efforts. Reasons why we lacked behind for a long time.

Because she is showing the true traditional indian dance like Kathak and bharatnatyam wich consider the face exoression and fingers more important than moving legs and chest as madhuri dikxit and Aishwarya rai do at their films .So the dances u saw in movies and in particular the latest one are not pure indian it s just a mix of some few indian steps and many disco and oriental one ,and concerning her dance I think she did it will because the traditional dance need a lit of time to perform so it can be sensual like raising the left eyebrow in perfect coordination with moving your hand

One of the best dances of the world. The stage was good, little known countries were there, authentic cultural dances were very well performed, there was a good variety, the lighting was good.

cjs _ Guam isn't even a Polynesian island!!!!!!!!! -_- im Tongan. if you'd know what Tonga is, you would know that Tonga is a POLYNESIAN ISLAND. and guess what, same goes with TAHITI. Guam is a Micronesian island. that wasn't even close to representing us Polynesian people. -_- to us, you can definitely dance other islands dances, but that's only if you get it right! I'm a Polynesian dancer, and when I dance Tahitian or Hawaiian, i dont try to do expert moves, if i know that i dont know how to do them correctly, because then the other dancers or other polynesian people, know that it looks like im struggling. and I especially don't get the names wrong (T_T) if someone was dancing a Tongan Tau'olunga and they said that it's "The Dance of The Philippines" and she did a sloppy job. 😐😑😒😡 I'd be SUPER pissed. and that's exactly what has happened here. the lady's Fa'arapu (fast small circles) wasnt even in a rotation, she was just Ruru-ing.(vibrating) she's a poor representation for tahitian dancing. if you want someone to do a specific dance, hire an actual tahitian dancer, do your research and pick which one is the best.

Emma M well I know how disrespectful it may be to be representing the Tahitian dance wrong and she should've practiced more to get it right and at least do it right ! And The Tahitian Hura dance doesn't represent the whole Polynesia, it's only represents Tahiti because it's a *tahiti dance ! Not all poly cultures are the same ( example : Hawaii and New Zealand !)that's like saying "oh the Haka represents us Hawaiians because we are both in Polynesia when it doesn't !

You don't even know what you're talking about. 1st, yeah, Guam is part of the Micronesia, and ?? 2nd, I have been practicing tahitian dance for a while and if she didn't know how to dance before that, I have to say that she really did it great. 3rd, stop being butthurt and stop talking shit like you could have done better because dancing, no matter how hard you try, is not for everyone. 4th, "tahitian dance" or "Polynesian dance" is danced all other the Pacific since years and is part of the various islands' culture now no matter if it came from Tahiti on the first place.

yay canada was there got to love native canadian traditions that is part of me

sure India was elegant. but other then that I didn't get a feel for it or enjoy watching as much as I did some like Guam

unti.unti I think it has more to do with what the contestants themselves knew. I remember at that time at least in India and Nepal belly dancing was popular thing to learn

As First Nations I was so happy to see one of many dances were represented. It makes me so happy and filled with joy! I loved India and Mexico they were my favourite.

Really liked Georgia, Mexico and Latvia. Proud to see Fiji representing our Pacific region too though I've never seen them do that dance before.

Fiji and Guam were so wonderful! You could tell the passion for the dance is so important to them, to represent their cultures.

Kitty S There are tons of dances all around the world and india's definitely the richest in dances ,they have sooo many classical ,traditional and religious dances (not Bollywood ones),from the costumes ,make ups to hand gestures ,feet gestures ,eyes movements and meaningful lyrics ,india absolutely has the most various and profound dances . I hate using the word"expert",but I am sort of an expert in this domaine and I know almost every dance all around the world (from Can Can ,Go Wan to Bharatanatyam ,Kathakali ...)India is a country of dance .

I was sooo happy when Canada came on representing our Indigenous people!! YASS CANADA

Guam and Nicaragua costume and dance was the BEST...BEAUTIFUL !
