Although, Miss India was a very beautiful girl, this competition tracks more than just a pretty face. How did Miss India look in the swimsuit portion of the pageant? Enough said!

If Oxana had competed in another edition, probably she would have won just Miss Photogenic, but not the crown. At the end it was demonstrated she was not enough to be Miss Universe.

Have you ever heard about her humiliating interview on the howard stern show and other assignments which she felt quite uncomfortable? It's quite harsh of you to say something like that. Let's respect her decision. She's more than smart, intelligent and beautiful enough to win the tittle and still smart and intelligent enough when she gave up the tittle and choose her dignity and career.

Miss RUSSIA was and is the most AMAZING contestant to have ever enter the Miss Universe Pageant. While the 9 other competitors wore beautiful traditional gowns, Miss Russia decides to wear this gown, which appeared to have been bed linen off of a hotel bed with Satin tied at the top, OUTSTANDING. This was a perfect example of, it's not always the dress that makes you pop, it's really the girl within. I believe that plain, but yet elegant gown allowed her to shine more brilliantly above her rivals.

Its a Gucci dress..... She couldn't take any gowns to Miss Universe because she had to leave within 2 days after her visa aproval, so after she reached US, she asked a friend of hers to get a dress from Russia and it Was a Gucci gown that costed her 6000 dollars which also reached her two days before her Finals night and she was Miss Universe 2002......so number "2" played an important role

Oxana was an apparition in that white gown - the way she carried it and glided across the stage was just stunning.

I love the music it's so smooth and fluid while walking on stage.

I personally asked Miss Philippines 2002 Karen Agustin, how is Oxana in real life. She said she's a supreme Goddess, and when she arrived (Oxana arrived late), all contestants agreed that they will all battle for the 1st Runner-up position 😂

Absolutamente bella la rusa. Los puntajes demuestran que los jueces quedaron impresionados desde el primer momento en que hizo aparición sobre el escenario. Oxanna Federova merece ser llamada con justicia la mujer más hermosa que ha ceñido la corona de Miss Universo. Otra que me impactó mucho fue Miss China, en muchos años no he vuelto a ver una candidata de su raza tan elegante y bella como ella.

Era tanta la belleza, seguridad y confianza en si misma de esta Rusa, que se dio el lujo de renunciar a la corona de Miss universo. Tal vez esta se le hizo poca cosa y prefirió sus estudios y profesión.

Reynolds Carreras podrá ser la marca que quieras pero el vestido era feo. Los jueces fueron demasiado imparciales y poco objetivos, bella si era pero el cuerpo lo tenía espantoso y el vestido era una sabana.

Venezuela, Panamá, China, India.

Albania's gown reminded me of Lara Dutta's in 2000 but nonetheless she carried well and walked beautifully. Russia wrapped a curtain around her but still managed to pull off a high score for the way she carried that gown with so much ease and elegance. South Africa's gown was beautiful and she looked beautiful in it. India's gown was yet another take on Halle Berry's Oscar gown, it was well made though and a black gown was something different. The judges may have considered it to be a rip off of the Oscar gown hence the low score. Germany wore a prom dress. The gown was blah. Cyprus' gown was very well made with intricate design and she should have advanced. Canada's gown was good, nothing great, Panama's gown was very beautiful with the fringes and it looked amazing on her. China looked sweet n cute n her gown was quite decent. Venezuela's gown kinda too low at the back but was good enough but she kinda walked too fast.

This is a long time ago but I would put Germany, China, Russia, Cyprus and South Africa as top 5.

A nice production, a huge recovery from 2001 disaster. 2002 to 2005 was good again, but 2006/2007 back to ugly. But the best ever and golden era of Miss Universe productions was 1950s to 1997.

Best productions for me were 1994 in Philippines; 1999 in Trnidad/Tobago; 2002 in Puerto Rico; 2004 in Ecuador; 2005 in Thailand; 2013 in Russia; 2015 in Las Vegas; and 2018 again in Thailand

I think judges are well instructed to vote for "the girl", not the gown she's wearing. Oxana's gown was not "that" amazing, but she wore it so well......(btw, that white gown belonged to Miss Japan, who lent it to Oxana)

No it’s not from Miss Japan. Oxana said her friend from Russia bought this gown from Gucci in Moscow & was worth $5K & was shipped to Puerto Rico just 2 days before the finals. She wore a different gown in the preliminaries.
