Catalyst is great but the clean sky, bright city, epic soundtrack and the overall atmosphere of this game is something that probably won't be captured in any other incarnation of Mirror's Edge ever again. Truly a masterpiece

It’s crazy how simply watching this trailer was enough to stand the hairs on my neck and give me goosebumps. I remember being a kid, watching this trailer and thinking this was revolutionary graphics and having a great time beating then speed running the game. Idk if games are getting worse or if I’m just “growing up”.

I would say that the games mostly just gotten worse, but there is ddefenitely a part of nostalgia included. Talking from my own experience anyway.

+Lucid Soundz Just watched the Catalyst trailer and then rewatched the one of the 1st game. Biggest difference to me was the soundtrack. While the "Still alive theme" gave me chills, the music in the new trailers is kinda lackluster and generic.

Mirrors edge is a good game its fun but its to hard i won't know where to go i'll have to make these hard and difficult jumps run across the wall with faiths wall running ability fight the cops disarm the cops by hitting the y button on my xbox360 controller sometimes faith won't disarm the cops even when i hit the y button mirrors edge is a good game but they made it too hard

Catalyst was just newer. Of course the graphical quality was better (e.g. the lights), but the look and feel of ME 2008 is still amazing. The story of Catalyst was (for me) just boring and overall it was nothing really new, the fighting system was much worse and the ending... meh :(

We can only hope... Its possible but it could be many years out from now if it even returns. Mirrors Edge 1 is a masterpiece and Catalyst was good but that it, nothing great. Im still happy we got Catalyst but imagine a 3rd Mirrors Edge created with passion and combine that with todays gaming technology (Ray tracing, SSD's, 4k etc...)

The world, the lore, the music, the atmosphere.. This game will forever remain one of those games I will always love and enjoy despite it's age. I love the first mission right after the training stage where you get the intro and the soundtrack plays along.. Gives me goose bumps every time. Sure it was short but damn it was one good game. It was standing out from other games during 2008. The art style and gameplay was different what was on the market, heck it even stands out to this day and DICE did a great job with it. And please Criterion, keep everything I and others loved about this game in the next one.

I liked this game a lot FANTASTIC gameplay and level design, but holy fucking hell it was short. So glad I grabbed this when it was free on psn because this was short it felt like a demo with literally no replay value. Could have used a combat arena with a bunch of obstacles to chain parkour attacks, or at least a create a level feature

Oscy Because almost every game is built with a lore around it. Have you ever watched the intro? Thats lore. To give you an idea of how the world is and how the life of Faith has been and still is. Mass Effect did not start a "lore epedemedic". The Elder Scrolls had lore ever since ES 1 and so many other games. Without lore, the story is confusing and we would not even know WHY Faith is a freerunner. Lore is essenstial to build up the story and to keep the player involded in the characters life and situations.

Alexander Hansen pretty sure that's just "story" I think lore refers to something more complex. Like a whole world of tradition and history inside a game world. Mirrors doesn't have that. Is just a setting and a. Very lineal story. The game even punishes you if you try to explore the surroundings and discover something more. There isn't more. Just a lineal race of jumps on a rail.

Well I thought BF Bad Company, Burnout Paradise, Mercenaries 2 and Red Alert 3 were all entertaining games as well....So I wouldnt say it was shitty year for EA, I actually thought about them much more highly back then than I do now...for one thing they killed off C&C with Tiberium Twilight (and cancelled Generals 2), killed of Criterion and Burnout by forcing the team to work on NFS games (and now they are nothing more than supporting studio for other games), and we really havent seen any new IPs from them recently....

Finished this game so many times i've lost count, the graphics and soundtrack still amazes me everytime, mirror's edge is eternal.

Gaming was at its absolute peak in 2008. I’m glad that I’ve been able to experience it at a young age. I was 12 when this game was released. The same year as Bioshock, Dead Space, GTA IV and many more. It was an absolute blast. The soundtrack of this game almost makes me shed a tear.

This game is so unfairly underrated. It has an amazing soundtrack and atmosphere. Unfortunately, its weakest part would be the storyline, mainly because it is short and kind of mediocre. But the graphics. Oh, the graphics! It's incredible how this game was released in 2008 and it can still compete graphically with some games that are released today, even it's console version, which is the one I play.

channel5980 The ramp-up to her being chased by attack helicopters is alarmingly abrupt, I think it happens in the first fifteen minutes of the game. It's such a well made game I was expecting that to make sense: "what in the hell is in this bag?" That was exciting, turns out it's just a macguffin that never gets explained very well.

I was obsessed with this game for the entire summer in 2009. The aesthetic, the unique gameplay, the soundtrack, I just wanted to LIVE in this city. I even completed all of the speedrun achievements and I never was a speedrunner. I even bought the yellow runner's bag that came with the special edition on ebay and still have it in my closet. I will always cherish my time with this game and fondly remember running on the rooftops of this ultra-clean and hyper modern city. Also it's easily one of the best looking games of all time.

Who is here because if the beautiful song and the beautiful clear atmosphere?)) The 2009 year is feeling like yesterday...

@benson2873 I had to do less running running because my knee got worn out. I run on treadmill and do elliptical now for less knee impact. I really went all out with the running ever since I was young and first played the game..

I have finished the campaign today ! its the second time, This game has something other games don't have, like seriously It makes you feel the combat and the environment, I know this game is 2009 but its still one of the best graphical games ! maybe the colors (Red and blue) makes you relax and get in the game ! Such places as Shopping mall :D And Mirrors edge is now on my 32 inch 3d tv with bright white colours, and ps3 console on :D joystick in my hands, playing atrium right now :D Chapter 7 or 8 ;) soon I will rescue Kate ;) Its 8th time I play this game ;) First 7 were on pC ;)

lel IKR like ive played catalyst and finished it and i got bored really soon but this game, i replayed it 26-27 time full story it makes you want to play over and over again it weird, plus it makes me feel competitive but without other players to compete with, and also the wall ride glitch is one of the biggest reasons the game is amazing lol, piece of art

Yup I remember seeing the TV ad many times for this game, Saint Row 2, Midnight LA, and Spiderman Web of Shadows back in late 08. Makes me very nostalgic.

I remember playing the demo over and over on the 360 leading up to release, being so hyped for this game. It came out and I had my mom drive me to blockbuster to rent it and I beat it within a day or two. Still one of my favorite games.

They were a money factory before this game, then they changed strategy to focus on new innovative games like this and that space horror game, both were unsuccessful so they fired that CEO (Rôti cello) and changed strategy back to making sequels and easy cash-ins. Basically EA tried and gamers didn't follow.

@@hadid1092 they made games worth wasting money on. Even BattleFront 1 was good but people are too stuck in the past so they have to crybaby critics such as dumb KZreadrs who whine about everything, therefore their new products reflect that demand. Much like reality TV.

When I was 14 years old I was obsessed with this game...playing it over and over again on my Xbox 360. Eventually I started to run. I thought Mirrors Edge made running so cool, so I thought why not try it out? I started running 5ks, 10ks and eventually half marathons. (All wearing a red biking glove on my hand lol) Next month I am running my first marathon. It sounds really corny...and kinda sad but, I would have never done any of this without being inspired by Mirrors Edge :)

its not good graphics, but a good simplistic design. Remember this game does not have complex physics, no particle effects, has similar textures all over the world, simple movement and AI for enemies, no complex interactions with NPC's or objects and its basically just running from point A to point B, where most games have several mechanics working at the same time besides running and jumpling.

Blergh if you play the PC version with nvidia physX then the game can become more demanding due to cloth simulation, more particles, paper, smoke effects and so on. i think the game was a slight bit ahead of its time

This one of the best trailers ever... You can feel the clean and cold air of the city blowing in your face while she faith does the parcour section. Paired with the minimalistic music it is just perfect.

This trailer gets me shivers down my spine every time. What a great game in many ways...

If you showed people this clip now, and Mirror's Edge and its sequel had never existed, people would still think it was an exciting game

2008 was the peak of gaming. So many improvements have been made to gaming technology over the years but creativity and passion are lacking. Mirrors Edge is a masterpiece. I enjoyed catalyst but it was not the same. With the greed of game companies today I dont think those golden days of gaming will truly return.

Tbh I think most people agree 2007 was the peak of gaming. In 2007 we got Halo 3, Half Life 2, Super Mario galaxy, COD MW, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Portal, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, Crisis, Team Fortress 2 and Bee Movie the video game. Hard to beat that...

To watch that trailer again, to remind myself that I was young, that my life was different. Wow the chills..

Mirror's Edge was the first game I played when I first got my own computer. This game looked so sick and was so ahead of it's time. The bright lights, the graphics, the whole idea of a parkour game, the music!!! I had 2 brand new pcs after this, but never did I get this feeling with a game ever again

Nostalgic memories of running from the blues late at night and sitting back and just listening to the soundtrack good times. :)

Best theme song in any game!

It’s such a Beautiful game man

This game brings out so many feels. The art design and soundtrack are top notch and add so much to the game, gives it this strange almost dreamlike atmosphere. The gameplay is still the best parkour gameplay ever. Not to mention this game came out at the perfect time in my life where everything was great so I was able to just sit back and enjoy it all the way through. Easily one of my favorite games of all time and looking back on it it's one of my fondest gaming moments.

The best part of this video is - Song.

I really love that scene where the camera shows Faith on the crane. I think that is really really cool

True classic right here. Very unique concept and a well executed game. Might be time to play it again!!

I remember this game... I was ten when it came out and I remember getting it r my birthday and me and my dad would play It and it would drive my step mom crazy😂

Man, this game was just so incredible. Everything about it. The gameplay, the music, the graphics, the story, the characters. Loved it all. I just replayed the PC version from start to finish at max gfx settings and 60+fps (something I couldn't do until recently) in anticipation for Catalyst. ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT!!! :D

Mirror's Edge is more than a game to me. I had a pretty rough time back then in 2008. I remember watching this trailer and almost crying. It's hard to explain that feeling. It was a mixture of admiration, beauty, freedom, strength, purity, and sadness, because my life was completely different. That trailer inspired me that day. Gave me hope. And although these difficult times are long gone, I remember this moment. Thank you Mirror's Edge.

In 2008 I was 21. For the first time, I was head over heels in love. She broke my heart into a million pieces. This trailer, the music specifically, takes me back to a time of great pain and beautiful innocence. Balanced on a mirror's edge.

2008 I was only 15 years old when this game came out. It is now 2023 I'm 29 now and I still play this game on my PS3 it has become one of those childhood cherished games.

15 years and still looks so good ... imagine a remasterd with 4K textures and Ray Tracing

actually mirror's edge was the first game that can run on ray tracing, yes it's looks pretty simple now but it was so cool back in the days

The nostalgia starts from this moment the 0:10 this feeling is the most beautiful❤

It's amazing how well the graphics hold up for this game, even on the 360. First played this back on February 2009 and still love this game. The music, the setting, and the gameplay makes this a masterpiece for me. I can't believe it's almost been 10 years now, but I still adore this game to death.

I do parkour and I would recomend this game even now. 10/10 sountrack graphics story mechanics this game had everything.

i wish studios made games like this nowdays. Ngl 2005-2014s games were the best. The newest game I played and actually loved is subnautica.

Can you believe it's been 15 years since this game was released? I wish there would be VR version on this.

You know a game is great when the trailer is literally just simple gameplay.

My little sister was a huge fan of Mirror's Edge and I always think of her when I come back to it.

This game was ahead of its time.

What i would have loved aout this game is if they added more places to explore and a more dramatic and immersive story, this world in this game is beautiful and they should have gave us more than rooftops and buildings to explore! :)

***** Have you even tried to do all the speedruns and timetrials, learning stuff like boost from standing (move sideways turn jump), wallrun-kicks, ..., ... tried to do what they are doing in the complete speedruns like wallrunning and jumping down to the streets etc? now all that makes the game so much larger. ;-) but i agree on having loved to play more levels. i´d even be happy about some more DLC. ;/ please give me ME2 already ... + a system that will run it.

I was 16 years old when I played this game 2008 and now I’m here back to say thank you for the great memories and the good old days and now it’s 2023 and I’m 31 now still playing it in the steam deck

My favorite franchise ever. I really hope for a third installment and many more installments. This game has great replayability imo and there's something about this franchise that cannot by replicated by other games. People can try but it will never be the same.

This is the greatest game-trailer that I have ever seen! I instantly wanted the game after seeing this in 2008. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the new Mirrors Edge 2 Video. Well, hopefully the game is good anyway!

IKR the atmosphere, the sounds, environment! It really made the world feel alive! Just looking at a sole skyscraper made you think with curiosity, "I wonder how many people are inside?" "what are they doing?" "can they see me running around?" it just felt outworldy

, this takes me back to my High School days pretty much listening to this trailer and later the Mirror's Edge soundtrack in every IT class while I did my work. Ah, memories.

I miss this so much this was one of my favourite very early childhood games 😭 my fav part of the soundtrack was 1:11 its literally so nostalgic it makes me wanna cry 😭😭

the PlayStation 3 era was a good time

The concept with high buildings, the risky parcour run and the graphics make it a perfect game for people with extreme acrophobia like me :)
