When I first saw this as a kid, I cried cuz "noo the poor kiwi died :(" Seeing this a decade later, it makes me bawl my eyes out cuz of how well a 3 minute animation represents a huge portion of humanity. When we reach a certain point in life, we work day after day, fight hard to survive, all so we can experience those few joyful moments in life that make it all worth it in the end. Every ounce of my respect goes towards this kiwi. It spent its whole life to accomplish its one, true dream, even though it was fully aware that doing so will cost its life.

Now I am a grown man, a social worker and take care teens with drug addiction, suicidal problems or sexual abuse. Some days after a 24 hour shift, I go back to this video. When I'm 27 and need to cry to survive. Thank you little bird for inspiring so many people. To teach us to work hard, archieve your goal, accept ourselfs ,enjoy life...and cry❤

My older sibling watched this as a child thinking the kiwi was crying from the wind and survived, now she older she finally understood that the kiwi fell Sacrificing their life to accomplish it's dreams while shredding one final tear if happiness knowing they are gonna die : ( ❤❤

When I first saw this as a kid I cried, as an adult I now understand, a bird that strong to pull up all those trees must have survived that fall.

Kate Cat I mean, from my perspective, that is what happened. He pulled all those trees so that when he fell, it would look like he’s flying on land like normal. He flapped his wings even though they clearly weren’t flying anywhere. From my point of view, he wanted to feel like he was flying at least once, and managed to do it.

I would not say dark, I would say sad. Dark has a very negative connotation to it. Kiwi wanted to experience flight even if it meant it's death. If you play ddlc or .exe games or watch tokyo Ghoul those are "dark". This is more sad and emotional than dark.

Brenda princesa Lindaa lmao the kiwis had functional wings but their natural habitat had no predators so they had no need to fly, they simply evolved to not need them so their wings became smaller smaller.

This animation is very sad but it teaches a lesson that even if life gives you difficulties, there will always be ways in which you can get ahead and that even if the journey is hard, you always fight for your dreams.

Let’s be real here. If a birb like him can carry pine trees to the top of a cliff, he can survive a fall from a cliff. Imagine how many times he fell off accidentally, and lived! In my personal canon universe, he lived on to become a pilot. Don’t worry, Kiwi is fine!

On another note, one species of geese are able to fall hundreds of feet down cliffs as chicks to begin their lives. Similarly if the kiwi was lucky, it would be able to survive due to its light mass and feathers, so you’re right.
