    I´m proud of my country. I´m glad that the Czech Republic is know for excellent army chemical unit 31. pluk radiační, chemické a biologické ochrany, and PPE factories like Gumárny Zubří (where CM masks are manufactured and by MIRA sold in US) based in the Czech Republic. In my fire dept we use cm5´s and now also Drager which are german products also excellent.

    I'd be concerned about how conspicuous they are. There's always the possibility that some psycho is going to bash you over the head and take your expensive reusable mask for their own use, after thoroughly cleaning it.

  • @dalriada842

    @dalriada842

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this It's not one of my many failures of character to attempt to rationalize away something that I lack. I did watch the video, and checked out the website. The lead time for it to be delivered, and the possibility that it might be 'requisitioned' (AKA stolen) by customs, put me off the idea. I could have risked buying it though. I think it's a valid observation that possessing such a device marks you out as a target of opportunity. They may even think that someone so prepared is a prepper, and follow you home to steal your stash. I think the value of being inconspicuous in a crisis outweighs the increased protection that such a mask offers. However, I have no desire to persuade someone who is unreceptive. Regarding your other reply about wishing they would try to take your mask, which seems to have been deleted: I used to know a guy who was really into keeping fit and doing martial arts. This guy was ripped! Anyway, one day he's sitting in a car when someone comes up to him. The perp punches him in the face through the open window before running off with his wallet. His prowess in the Dojo didn't prepare him for a surprise attack.

    That filter rating was so long I cracked up while you were reading it 😂 great explanation! I really loved your incense and pepper spray demonstrations, I feel like there was a lot more smoke in that shower than the camera picked up hahaha. That drinking system and helmet compatability is a big plus, very cool.👍 Overall I agree with your pro's and con's, while it's a really cool item I would like to have someday; I'm 22 and currently have a lot more on my list of more importance and of lesser cost. Perhaps someday! Definitely an important item nonetheless. Thanks for the hard work, Cliff!✊ great review

    There are 40mm to bayonet adapters from various vendors on Ebay. 3M made one, the 701 black/orange adapter, but they are impossible to find, but there are some 3D printed versions out there. Make sure to get the gasket. This adapter allows you to use cheap filters like the 2091 magenta P100 from 3M, with your gas mask. Good luck and stay safe everyone!

    Great Review! Looks like a very functional and capable Respirator. - I am not a fan of the material that the harness is made from. How does the ease of breathing compare with other respirators? - For an emergency Preparedness Protection measure it sure does the job. Although the use would have to assess the threats within their area to establish their protection needs. - Does it come with a haversack for storage? - I would never advocate storing or crushing one into another pouch. - If it is NOT NIOSH CBRN approved, at that price, i wouldn't touch it.

    Just got this email from MIRA regarding my order back mid-Feb, just in case anyone was still looking to order: "The CM-6M and CM-7M are manufactured in the Czech Republic. On March 15th, there was a law passed prohibiting the sale of PPE to countries outside of the EU during this pandemic. The good news is, there was a loophole that our legal team used, and we were just approved to resume shipping masks once again. This special allowance gives us the ability to cover all existing orders, plus a few weeks of new orders based on current volumes." ... "Please note, this legal hurdle has extended lead times by about two weeks."

    On the Topic of Mira Safety's Products Let me make a few things clear before I begin talking about Mira's masks: 1. Contrary to what I have heard many claim, Mira Safety does not manufacture gas masks. They instead get them from Czech and Russian manufactures and resell them in the United States. The CM-6M and the CM-7M (note that CM-7M is just a retail name and not its actual designation. The actual designation is OM-90) and the filters that come with them are made in the Czech Republic. The CM-2M (PDF-2D) and the KZD-6 and their filters are manufactured in Russia. 2. There is, as of yet, no proof that anyone other than the Czech military, Czech police, and the Turkish police use Mira products. I have emailed Mira Safety requesting photographs of anyone other than the aforementioned parties using their masks. They declined to send any. 3. There is no evidence that Mira Safety sells to any of the organizations that are listed on their website as users of their products. The Czechs and Turks buy from the manufacturers [Gumárny Zubří](www.guzu.cz/cz/vyrobni-program.html#ochranne-masky) and [AVEC](avec.cz/en/). 4. Mira Safety was founded in 2018. 5. I am not a gas mask dealer. The only time I have sold anything CBRN related, they have been antiques. This post was not made in an attempt to create a profit but instead to inform buyers. **Now that that is out of the way, I will discuss Mira Safety's masks.** **The CM-7M** The CM-7M (OM-90) is advertised as being a high-end mask for operators. Surely it must be true seeing as both the Czechs and Lithuanians use it, right? Well, after hours of searching I was unable to find any evidence the OM-90 is used by the Lithuanians. I did, however, find an [article which states that the Lithuanians - as well as the Latvians - have a contract with Scott](polygonjournal.com/2019/12/19/joint-procurement-will-provide-gas-masks-to-lithuanian-and-latvian-army/). Of course, the number of users does not mean that it is a bad mask but I think that it is important to inform a buyer of this discrepancy in Mira's advertising. What does make the OM-90 a bad mask is its features - or more aptly, lack thereof. While the CEO of Mira Safety, Roman Zrazhevskiy, [stated in a discussion with Chris' Gas Masks and Militaria](kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4CptKmvk6msZ5s.html) that "the \[OM-90\] is superior to the S10 for tactical applications", the opposite is true. It is undeniable that the OM-90 is better for use with optics than the S10 due to its lenses sitting closer to the face and, yes, skullcap head harnesses are nice but one cannot say that it is better for "tactical applications" for the following reasons: * The lack of support for a voice projection unit makes it more difficult for law enforcement to be heard by civilians or for operators to hear each other. * Lack of support for radio communication devices makes it more difficult for law enforcement to communicate with each other. * Lack of support for lens outserts greatly decreases the survivability of the mask. This also means that the user is not able to install laser protective or tinted outserts. * The five point head harness is less capable of creating an air tight seal than a six point head harness. While I am sure that it still does create a seal, it is objectively true that five point head harnesses are inferior to six pointed ones. * The lack of any method to retain a chemical hood makes the mask less likely to properly interface with a chemical suit. One simply cannot say that the OM-90 is tactically superior to the S10. Its disadvantages heavily outweigh the advantage of having close-to-the-eye lenses. Seeing as Mira sells OM-90s for $229.95, the price is much higher than what S10s normally go for. I think that it is fair to call the OM-90 obsolete since it is lacking many of the features of modern masks. **The CM-6M** The CM-6M is Mira Safety's panoramic option. This mask is used by - if my hours of searching have yielded accurate results - solely by the Czech and Turkish police. Of course, the CM-6M has all of the same failings as the OM-90. The CM-6M, however, is cheaper than the OM-90 by a whole ten dollars! Of course, this is only due to a sale going on at the moment. In fact, it seems that it has been going on for much longer than just 'at the moment'. I've asked around and nobody has seen it at any other price. I doubt this is the case, but Mira Safety may be doing an illegal practice in which they claim an item is 'on sale' while only ever selling it at the sale price. This practice is used to pressure customers to purchase products without much consideration. Like I said, I doubt that this is the case and I am sure everything Mira Safety is doing is entirely legal. Of course, just like the OM-90, the CM-6M is not suited for use in tactical situations and should be considered obsolete. **The CM-2M** The CM-2M (PDF-2D) is Mira Safety's gas mask for children. According to Mira's advertisment, the PDF-2D "has saved thousands of lives during the Chernobyl incident" and is the only mask on the market that fits kids from 1.5 to 15 years old. Those claims are both lies. First of all, being first made in the 1980s, the PDF-2D did not exist during the Chernobyl disaster. The PDF-2D is a member of a series of masks, earlier ones from which were present at that time and place. The second claim, that it is the only mask that fits children 1.5 to 15 years old, is also incorrect. The mask is divided into two sizes. While this does mean that the same model of mask fits children of the previously specified ages, an individual facepiece cannot. If you were to make use of that ability, you would need to purchase two facepieces resulting in a price of over $300. There are much cheaper options for masks meant for small children. Take the Israeli M10 and M10A1, for instance. They are much cheaper and do their job just as well as the PDF-2D. **The KZD-6** The KZD-6 is Mira Safety's protector for babies and small animals. Originally designed in the 1980s and lacking modern features, it is as obsolete as everything else Mira sells. It is also $949.95 on Mira Safety's website. On eBay, though, they can be found for $100 with free shipping. The immense price tag is just not worth it. It is especially not worth it considering that Israeli gas hoods for babies [are much cheaper than even the eBay listings](wellprepared.com/products/infant-gas-mask), take 40mm NATO filters (instead of the proprietary filters found on the KZD-6), and use a PAPR blower unit. As for animals, I am sure it would work fine for a dog. Cats, however, certainly would not be happy with being crated around in something like that. Having had to put cats into carriers many times, I know for a fact that they are made highly uncomfortable by being put into confined spaces. I also know from experience that putting two cats inside of the same carrier will invariably lead to fighting. The stress of being in a confined space makes cats violent in my experience. Mira suggests, though, that you can hold two cats in there. Hypothetically, yes you could. In practice it would be much more difficult. Of course, all that talk about cats is just from my personal experience. **Filters** All of the filters sold by Mira Safety are incredibly overpriced for what they are. You should not be paying $80 for an NBC filter when much cheaper but just as effective alternatives exist. **Conclusion** In summary, Mira Safety's products are just not worth buying. All of the masks they sell are both obsolete and grossly overpriced. **TL;DR:** Do not buy gas masks from Mira Safety.

    A few pointers: If you find yourself in a situation that requires the use of this mask and its filters, you probably need to wear some body (skin) protection as well, as some gasses can penetrate your skin. Those white suits offer some lovelof protection, but you might consider a hazmat suit (the yellow ones in your video). If you want to use this mask in combination with a hard hat, please not the according to European PPE legislation, you need to assure that these two items are compatible and are meant to be used together. Not all helmets are designed to be used in combination with a mask like this one. European PPE items are usually rated with an EN norm, often together with a national norm. DIN just for Germany. After use, masks like these should be cleaned en sealde up by a trained and certified professional. Filters should be disposed. Also read the instructions for the filters carefully, for every substance they filters out (like the mercury) is states how long they will do so. Filters can get Satrústegui much faster than you might think... Other than that, thorough review!

    There are LOTO of other things we need to point out. 1.Poland doesn't use CM6M 2.Mira just added an M to the CM6 mask made by Gumarni Zubri and they sell it under their name. 3.Speech diaphrams are very common, even soviets used them. 4.You can speak even without a speech diaphram 5.Every gas mask is CBRN, THAT'S WHY THEY WERE MADE 6.You can get a working milsurp 40mm NATO gas mask that will protect you. 7.Mask last a lot longer than their shelflife, same with filters. 8.Reactor isn't nescesary for CBRN protection, you need only charcoal and paper 9.Reactor only makes charcoal expire slower while contact with iodine, pure charcoal also will work 10.Saying "You can buy N95 masks at home depot or a Mira Safety CM6M for 220£" is a huge manipulation. There are also milsurp masks and cheaper brand new ones

    Excellent product although I suppose that us guys with facial hair need to keep a beard shaver charged and ready to trim for proper fitment. We used to do drills in the military pulling out gas mask and putting it on within a specific time limit. It would be interesting to see you do a quick beard trim and don your mask and do a seal check. The Army standard is 9 seconds to don the mask, of course doing a rapid beard trim that 9 seconds would be impossible but something to think about.
