Minoxidil before after - Part 1

I noticed really severe shedding in June 2016. (the video was made almost 3 months after I took my first photos and I finished 2 bottles of a topical substance. Sides: severe headache and occasional , chest pain
I use shampoo for hair loss, and take hair loss caplets.
(My doc said it is androgenic...so, if i stop using the substance, i'll be bald in 6 months). I bought the substance, shampoo and caplets of some brand.

Clear improvement on your diffused hair, well done. I'm in a similar position, diffused all on the top (not receding). Been on Minoxidil for 1 month, shedding every time i apply, currently look a right state. Hoping it's all worth it and I will see improvement. All the best.

I guess everybody finds his own way. Suggested is rubbing it into your scalp. At first I began really just dropping it onto my skalp and leave it there. it seemed it worked. Then I neglected putting it on my head, because I had been satisfied with the condition on my head. Recently I noticed hair is getting thinner, so now I put it in on in the evening and briefly rub it and leave it that way (in the evening because i look like a wet dog afterwards)

about six months ago when I first started using minoxidil 5%, I watched tons of minoxidil before and after videos just to keep motivated. Now, after six months, I have my head full of hair, back to where it was when I was a teenage boy and I couldn't be happier. All treatments before minoxidil had failed me. I know they say it doesn't work on some people but I am lucky that it works on me. I even grow beard, though I don't apply it on the face. maybe it got into bloodstream in the scalp and runs all the way to my face. I don't know for sure. Even my lashes grow longer and thicker I can almost see them over my eyes. but I don't mind. and I don't mind using it for the rest of my life as long as I can get to have my hair on my head for as long as I live.

thank you for sharing that with us. I am a bit sad, that we are destined to use the solution lifelong...but I agree, if that is what it takes to keep the hair..i am gonna do it too. It is easier to preserve what you have as to make something (grow hair) out of nothing (after you get bald). And, the older one gets, the easier it is to reconcile himself to his baldness. Hopefully this stuff will work for another few years.

Nothing is for free... My doc said, I can continue using it, because it doesn't suppose to make systemic damage. But they would have no hesitation to issue a finasteride prescription. At the end, it is solely your own choice.

so long is it from then?! wow...well...my head is still bearable. i have to admit haven't diligently been putting that stuff on my head, and for the last few months i really noticed my loosing hear got worse. So i am putting minoxy on my head more rigorously on my head for the last 3 three months. i came to realize what they say: once you stop using minoxidil, your hair will get extremely thin and you are going to loose it faster! I still am using it only once a day, but will reconsider it and start using it twice a day. As they say: if you stop brushing your teeth, they will get worse, and it similarly happens to hair - if you don't use the solution, you will loose it

I used it for 4 months. Hair didn't shed a lot after that first 4 weeks common thing. Got denser head and less breakable . But as I discontinued, same thing started happening. On dermatologist instruction, I am using all listed solutions again. Will I get permanent result after months when it may show positive sign of most recovery of hair. And is this life long practice to apply on hair?

It depends. The Minoxidil is only enhancing the blood flow to your scalp. If the blood does not contain any substances that really needs to grow the hair . so it wont help you. That is why you really need take a good nutrition input during the Minoxidil is being used. It is just like a construction project.Lets say you have to build something (Hair). You have to supply the building materials(nutrition).Lets say you have your own material stocks, but if you dont have your own transportation fleet ( a proper blood flow) so material cannot be transported to the site(scalp) and nothing is being built. Therefore you hire an outside source of transportation (Minoxidil) to do the job. Now the construction work is going on. But you have to be careful , that you always supply the material (nutrition) and not to idling the transportation fleet or otherwise you have to pay the hire charges anyway but nothing is being built. As same as we paying lot of money on Minoxidil and nothing is grown. But that is not the Minoxidil's fault. Oooops this is too much :D. But this theory really worked for me. And another thing , never over dose minoxidill, that wont really helpful, except promote side effects. Normally it is mentioned in the instructions for use. And be realistic... hair doesnt grow within a one day, one week or two.A new hair take more than a month to appear. So you have to continue the Minoxidil and your nutrition plan at least two months may be more to see the results.Never give up.But do it right!!

i don't think heating hair would cause its loss. Using solutions on a scalp does not require a head shave. Women with long hair are putting stuff on their scalps.. But keeping hair shorter is perhaps more convenient, since you can rub the solution easier into the skin. I do not think i would recommend anythink..people are different and use all sorts of stuff. I still have lots of hair on my head, but I do not know what contributed to it. I only know that when I see my hair being really poor, dull, thin..i get more diligent at putting minoxidil on my head :) When I first began with the therapy, i bought Foligain products (minoxidil, shampoo and caplets). Now, i only use some cheap, no brand, minoxidil. At the end, it all comes to hormones in your body, and you may notice around yourself, how everyone is unique, some get bald early in their lives, the others later.. Keep researching the stuff on your own and I wish you will find the right approach for you.

Thx. Let me emphasize, that I don't know the reason of my fall out. I am 40, and dermatologist said at a glance, it is androgenic. And, I am afraid to admit, that i looks that way. Although when it started, it was sudden, like all my hair was gone in a month or two. I use Foligain minoxidil 5 % (low alcohol) and 'Foligain for hairloss' caplets. and Foligain hair regrowth shampoo. The bottom line is, my hair is much better than it was, and I just don't know whether it would be that way even if i hadn't do anything of that. I am afraid to stop using minoxidil now.

Well at least it started late for you. Consider yourself very lucky, at 40 i would not mind a shaved masculine look but its different in your early 20's. I started shedding severely at 19, im now 25 with still thick hair although thinning is noticeable in wet hair but its a devastating battle. My hair was my best part, makes me really sad to be losing them so early

Talha Rehman Never is the right time for this thing, but I completely understand you. It is better to have hair as not have it. And everybody asks himself 'Why me...'. But, it is just called life, I guess. Some are more lucky then others and there is not much we can do about it. Excercising and being fit can add to selfesteem, on a long run perhaps a prosperous career. But the majority has none of that. At some point, resignation and acceptance are the key words.

devlon5 True. The treatments are not that helpful. No one in my family has hair loss, my dad has a full thick head of hair at 55 and so do all my uncles on both sides. However my mom is showing signs of female pattern thinning so now i know where the gene came from. Its sad but life's not fair as they say, better accept what we cannot control and focus on things that we can. Its beautiful to see how humans across the globe are so similar in their goals, thinking and problems. Yet the labels divide us so much. Im from Pakistan btw :)

there are lunatics in every country, so as there are some smart, bright and heartful people (i'd like to believe there are more of the latter). But in their core, people are the same everywhere. We are all slaves to our egos to various degree. Circumstances that do not ease our lives perhaps help us to grow spiritualy (at least we can comfort ourselves with that..) and think of our creator more often.:) Perhaps soul development does matter. who knows.

the result would be the same - either lossing it gradually over time (let's say, three years), or freezing your hair for 2.5 years and then stopping using minoxidil. After 3 years you'll be without hair, either way

I can pass only information that i read on the web: when starting to use minoxidil, you freeze the situation on your head, some folicles can be revived. The maximum result should be achieved after 2 years. Afterwards, despite using minoxidil, hair would still start to fall out, but not with the rate as they would in case of not using minoxy. So at the end, baldness is still inevitable, it just might be delayed slightly.

  • @devlon5

I bought it on Biovea (low alcohol formula). It's liquid. I obviously improved the situation on my head. However, I do not have hair of a 20-y.o. guy anymore and i am feeling that my hair line is receeding. My hair is super thin and gentle and i am starting to believe, that if i quit using this darn thing, i am gonna have a disastrous head in like 4 months. I am just not brave enough to experiment with letting go of minoxidil. Even with it's usage, receeding will continue, but with much slower pace. There is a slight concern in my mind regarding one possible side effect, that is dilating heart blood vessels or enlarging of the heart ventricles. On the other hand..it is sold without a prescription in pharmacies - it can not be so damaging, can it. Best wishes

My eyes are descending...(or is my forehead getting bigger ha ha ha). It would be nice to fullfill temples. But, I think we can just kind of freeze the situation on our heads when on minoxidil and that slow continuation of receeding hair is inevitable. I was more thinking to shave my head one summer...just to see how ugly I can get ha ha. Perhaps I am gonna like discover how much baldness suits me :). But, seriously..I expect i can retain my hair for the next two years, after that the nature will win. Transplanting hair hasn't been taken into my consideration. I am a simple guy, not a star.

Ouch... I am sorry, I am no expert about it, nor specialist. Regarding what I read, I would expect sheeding in a first month or two, not so much after 4 month! Roughly, 60 - 70 % should notice some positive difference by that time, whereas perhaps 15 % will notice no difference. The positive effects should peak after a year or two..and than loosing hair will gradually continue, perhaps at a slower pace than normally.
