Hey guys Leon here from Hairguard. If you’re new to the channel and want updating on any of the latest hair loss news or developments that we find out about, make sure to hit subscribe. In this video we’re going into the top 5 mistakes guys make when using minoxidil, which is most commonly sold under the brand name Rogaine. But just before we do that, if you’re watching this video because you’re worried about your hair loss, what you can do is click the link in the description to take the Hairguard hair loss quiz. You’ll answer a few short questions about yourself and your hair loss, and then you’ll then receive free expert and personalized advice on how to regrow healthy hair.
Now let’s get into it. Top 5 mistakes users of minoxidil make:
Not getting a clear baseline estimate of the state of your hair. Guys this is such an easily avoidable mistake that can make all the difference in the world, not just if you take minoxidil. It applies to any hair loss treatment out there, be it medical or natural slash alternative or even a lifestyle change. And that is establishing a clear baseline, a record of your hair situation in the point in time just prior to starting treatment.
The easiest and most obvious way to do this is to take photographs of your scalp prior to starting treatment. Remember to take a note of the lighting you used or how you set up the camera, so that you can make future photographs directly comparable. Now photographs can be a bit ambiguous, especially in the early stages of treatment. So there are other tangible, objective measures you can take before starting. For example you can use a simple device known as a haircatcher. You plug this in the drain of your bathtub or shower, and it allows you to literally count the number of hairs you are lose every time you shower. Better yet, you can go to your dermatologist, who will administer some simple examinations and give you precise numerical figures of such things as the density of hair on certain scalp regions, the proportion of hairs that are in anagen vs. telogen and so on. Guys do it - your baseline is your beacon that you can always look back on to see how far along you’ve come.

1-4 are just some pretty basic points, and 5 is just to make you anxious and buy their products, the "underlying" problem is just genetics and has absolutely nothing to do with nutrient deficiency. You can eat and apply as much nutrients as you want, it wont keep your hair from falling, the only things that help so far are minoxidil and DHT blockers, maybe scalp massage might have a positive effect too. But nutrients wont do shit as long as youre not clearly deficient which should not happen with a "standard diet" in mordern countries.

So I would say, as a cosmetologist- minoxidil is for men who have NORMAL, or slightly thinning hair. You would use it 3-5 times a week at night, by brushing it softly across your scalp after a warm shower (soft and absorbant follicles) and that’s it. Wait like 1-3 months and you will see longer thicker hair for sure. It’s not a miracle, if you’re going bald it won’t help you. It won’t regrow hair either that’s been lost for a while. It’s better used as a prevention, / hair thickening growth serum. Lastly, don’t use some nasty 15 in 1 axe mens product when doing this. You need a proper moisturizing shampoo and conditioner or else you WILL GET DANDRUFF Period - it’s common sense but hopefully this helps

I use it IMMEDIATELY after dermarolling. Don't believe all the negative side effects talk. 99% of the side effects are in their head. It's a prime example of the nocebo effect. They talk themselves into it. And I use two full droppers worth twice a day. The 1ml dosage they suggest is ridiculous.

@@dcpln7 I guess the answer comes down to your genetics as well. Each person will have different results as we are different in general. Minoxidil is a product you can’t stop using once you start it. I’ve watched other videos and they say it’s your diet too. You have to look at your food you eat and it’s got to be healthy and watch your calories intake. It’s good to have and maintain fitness goals too. It’s all part and parcel of a healthy lifestyle and having healthy body and hair as a result. I would add, hang out with good positive motivated people. That’s a good way to stay on track Edit.. Also use a Derm Roller when you apply the minoxidil. Read all the instructions and apply exactly what’s written. You will need at least 3 months use before seeing results. Some of your hair will fall out at first within the first 6-8 weeks though this shows it’s working and it’s normal. It mentions not to put on completely bald areas as it won’t work there and on healthy hair - it’s all in the info www.rogaine.com/products/mens-hair-regrowth-solutions/mens-foam/312547781350.html

Ok so if it's for women. Women are only supposed to use it 1 time a day if it is the 5% liquid if its the 2% we use that 2 times a day we shouldn't use it more then as directed if we are in our child bearing ages it can cause issues. If you are a man though the 5% 2 times a day is the general guideline. Hope that helps
