Your filming tipping your head down to see what the crown area looks like prompted me to do the same, and I'm glad I did. I look way thinner in the back half of the top of my head compared to the front, which made me realize I'm not applying my topical dutasteride/minoxidil treatment evenly back there. So thanks for indirectly helping me optimize my treatment protocol.

You are the best. Aside from you being brutally honest and not biased by advertising or money or whatever, you also set a realistic view for most people. Everyone only sees the hyped up Reddit posts of hyper responders, then try it out and see little (some positive, some negative) difference like you. Because of people like you the world gets a little better.

I tried propecia about 9 years ago, but got bad side effects on that so stopped. I’m still NW2.5, and nearly 50, so not too bad. Just have to hope my hairline doesn’t go back too much further, and pray something new comes out in next few years….

Start with r/tressless and you might find a way to create a stack that works for your specific goals and budget. Mine is dutasteride 0.5mg (3x/week) + topical minoxidil + tretinoin 0.05% + microneedling at 1.5mm (2x/month) + stemoxydine. There are many, many more elements you could use to compose your own stack. All it takes, is doing one's research and not being too afraid 😉

So I have to assume the only reason you didn't experiment with cutting the dosage of Oral Min in half, is because you believe in only sticking the 'the least possible efficacious dose'? (2:51). I would have tried half -- because applying topical Min is a huge pain, and popping a pill is just so much easier. They do sell a spray that is both Min and Fin (Hims), I thought about trying (0.3 Fin concentration).

So my regime after including oral minox was like Oral minxodil 2.5 mg everyday Oral finasteride everyday Minxodil 5% every other day Hair oil every other day Shampoo my hair on the oiling day . After 10 months I must say I have recovered almost 20℅ of my hair, my condition is better than ever , I can go out without caps , hair got thicker and fuller

Do you know if you are a SULTA1 (sulfotransferase) responder? That's how minoxidil works topically I've heard -- the sulfotransferase is required for proper conversion of the prodrug minoxidil to the active form in the hair shaft. Some people have inactive sulfotransferase enzymes in the hair shafts (likely due to genetic mutations in SULTA1) so typical topical minoxidil doesn't work for them. I'm not sure about the oral form - I've heard that oral minoxidil bypasses the sulfotransferase step somehow.

Yeah - I get it - strange - but I began using it on a laser mark (skin repair) on the bridge of my nose (suppose to reduce the appearance of scars) but also pushed the oil up to the nose/forehead area where I also had some scars (a childhood fall) and noticed an increase in eyebrow hair growth as a result. I also began to take daily, about a half teaspoon orally and noticed within a week a difference in scalp hair texture (positive). Its been about three months - don't know if I've had any scalp hair growth, but time will tell. (no otherwise side effects) Its curious.

I had a big heart ache just from the minox foam. I woke up several times in the middle of the night and never went back to sleep. I don't know if it was some kind of fake packaging, but I used to use the same product with no problem. I dermarolled 0.5mm and may have given a higher dose of minoxidil. Then I immediately used minox for a while and woke up in the night. But then three days later I used the minox foam again and had severe heart pain for about three days. After a week, it went away easily. Since then I don't even give foam and try to use natural oils. and twice a week 1,25 mg of finasteride + a lot of other vitamins like silicon, zinc, biotin, sulphur, reishi mushrooms and quality sampons

I have been a good responder for topical minoxidil over years. However, I stopped a while ago because it changes my hair texture and makes it dry like crazy. Then, Used oral minoxidil started by 0.625 mg, then 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg and finally 5 mg daily. Oral minoxidil never helped my scalp hair, it was never even near the topical minoxidil results. On oral minoxidil (1 year) and hair density decreased and my scalp is visible. I cannot add propecia or dutasteride due to past sexual side effects, but I do use nutrafol men supplement (saw palmetto). I lost confidence in Oral minoxidil, and I think its overrated. It dried my skin so much that it interrupted with my sleep and skyrocketed my stress levels. I switched it back to topical minoxidil, but no matter what I did- the alcohol was too much for my skin. It kept destroing my hairs. I switched to topical high coffeine coffee with rosamery oil and dermapening it (0,6mm) every 2,5 day. My hair got better. Its around one month since I see some new tiny hairs. Low in number and slim, but they are here. Drawback is that its a little messy and the coffee has to stay for 20 minutes on the head

Matt, why don't you just make your own topical fin using the 5% minoxidil. I have been using this formulation for a while now, and it seems to work. I actually use 0.2% as opposed to the 0.25% by the way. I have also been experimenting with taking oral fin twice or once a week. As an example taking 0.5% on a Monday and Thursday, or 1 mg on wednesdays. Also using regular minoxidil on those days when using the oral medication. Supposedly the scalp DHT half life is 30 days, and combined with the topical finasteride the effects could be positive.

Oh hey Matt, I got a question I've been unable to find the answer. Using Fin right now at 1mg a day -- some people say that they reduced to 0.5mg a day to prevent the side effects. But logically, I don't understand this, because the amount of DHT that is inhibited from 0.5mg and 1mg is not much different (I think only 7%). So it doesn't make sense why, if the side effects come from DHT limiting, why reducing to a 0.5mg does would have any effect. I would assume that skipping a day would be more effective at reducing sides, but I also don't like that idea, because it bounces your hormone levels up and down (DHT fluctation) -- and hormone fluctuation is where all the problems come from.

I had big results from topical Minoxidil many years ago... I'm a super responder (same is true for Finasteride). I lost a lot of ground when I gave it up. Recently, I've been trying to grow my mustache longer, and finding that I never seem to be able to reach the same length that I had some years ago... Eventually I realized that it was around that time that I was on min... I didn't realize it at the time, but min helped my beard growth too. So why did I give up min? Well, it was a pain in the ass... and having a wet hair look makes your hair look thin, which defeats the whole purpose of using the medication. So yeah, I'm very curious about oral min... but also cautious because I've had panic attacks and strange sensations in my heart in the past. Been checked multiple times but they never find anything serious. If I were to hazard a guess, I think I'm most likely to die of some undiagnosed heart condition down the road.
