    When the dam withstood previous flooding (2019, I think), they probably thought that was as bad as it could get. It sounds like generations of his family have lived there and run the store. They thought they were far enough away.

    The DNR won’t let anyone remove trees that fall into the river and dam it up. They say it’s natural and has to be left alone. Well…as you can see, that’s not working real great.

    ​@@16-BITFPV very few dinosaur fossils have been found in Minnesota. I don't remember the exact reasoning, but I think it has something to do with glaciers tearing up the ground during the last ice age. Which is also why we have so many lakes and rivers

    they need to look into suing the county... They were suppose to take care and keep it from Damaging Private Property.... Not getting a Contractor after the one they had refused to remove those logs and trees from the openings of the spillways is no excuse .. Others would have done the work and not worried about the dam going over. Could have done it by remote and cleaned out the logs.

    The store has been operating for over 100 years and is a state landmark destination. He and his family are the current owners and operators for the last 50 years. So far they are also the only family directly impacted by the dam breaching. There really isn't anything notable below it, the largest impact is expected to be ecological. The river ultimately will run into the Mississippi river, which is currently in a flood stage from the same storms that breached the dam.

    @@nicotti it only looked straight as the station and it's piping was built so close. Water will always take the path of least resistance, hence it followed the intake lines to the house! What they need to do now and in the future is to *stop* Just watching the logs build up and come up with a solution to unblock them! The second they become lodged is the second erosion begins.

    @@hulkgqnissanpatrol6121 No it went towards the house because that bank was lower than the right one, so water flowed over it first when the dam was overtopped. I don't know what you're talking about with water following pipes. The house doesn't get drinking water from the dam or the river.
