Mini Workbench (Extendable) - Scrapwood Challenge Ep18

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Plans for this project here: paskmakes.com/premier-project...
I've wanted to build a Mini Workbench for a long time and now I finally got around to it. Another project, hopefully in the near future is an outdoor workbench that will have no vices. That's the reason I've built this Mini Extendable Workbench. I'll be able to clamp it onto the outdoor bench and have lots of clamping options with the vice and dogs!
I didn't go into too much detail with the vice build as I've already covered that in previous videos.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

FWIW, it just occurred to me that if you put magnets on the bottom of the dogs, they could not only pull up the extension stops but, if you put magnets in the bottom of dog-sized holes in the side of the workbench, they would hold the dogs in place when not in use.

That’s right Ben. I spent my first few months clamping boards to my kitchen sink. Once I made the mini work bench, I would clamp it down to my kitchen table. Now, I have a bora work table that I can quickly put up and take down and clamp this mini workbench to the top. Works great and easy storage!

@Falconhoof Lots of patience and time (the lockdowns helped with that one). I used a wooden handscrew clamp clamped to my kitchen countertop as a makeshift vice, cut all the maple with a Japanese hand saw, cordless drill for holes, and cleaned up stanley no. 5 for flattening and squaring things up. Boy are things easier now that I actually have the vise to work with.

Beautiful work. I take a shower and I’m about to go to sleep like most nights I start watching KZread. Then every time I watch your videos I always get back up and either sketch one of your ideas for later or get dressed and end up in bed at the wee hours of the morning, covered in sawdust from yet another project you inspired. I thank you for it but I’m pretty sure my wife hates you 😂. Great video. Now , off to the garage I go for a new mini-workbench.

Thank you. It is so nice to know that some self appointed individual will always be around to edit and revise other peoples mistakes. Imagine my surprise when I opened my KZread to find out that my very own reincarnated William F. Buckley had decided to proofread my remarks to an Australian craftsman. First of all, the word simplistic in itself, is an adjective. When I graduated from High School over 50 years ago, it was my understanding that an adjective modifies or describes a noun. The word construction can be a noun when used to describe a creation. In using the term "simplistic construction", I was making that very point. My statement, as written, was correct and your interpretation of my MEANING was incorrect. Also, Mr. Buckley, I would like to point out that you spelled the work 'construction' incorrectly. I have taken it upon myself to show you the correct spelling, should it become the object/subject of future attempts to correct someone against their will. Have a wonderful day.

Epic! How about some dog storage holes on the side, perhaps magnetic too? 🧲 very fine build! I love what you’ve made happen with the scrapwood challenge, very inspiring.

Thank you for not wiping the wet glue off. Oh wait! You did... :( People don't realize how easy it is to just wait and then knock off the glue instead of having to deal with glue smears and the enormous amount of sanding to prevent the glue from affecting stain or varnish et al.
