Mini Roundabouts And How To Navigate Them | MOD 2 TIPS #7

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video we'll go over mini roundabouts including double mini roundabouts. They're exactly as they sound, roundabouts but mini. Some roundabout rules still apply to mini's but not all of them. This can cause a bit of confusion for new riders and drivers, but by knowing a few simple rules, you can make mini roundabouts easy to read and to navigate.

    Useful information. I want to know if, if you're turning right at the mini-roundabout, do you need to signal left after the first exit? I ask because I struggle to slip the clutch and use the indicators at the same time (I have small hands). When I use the indicator, I would accidentally engage the clutch fully and the bike would shoot forward unbalancing the bike.

    First exit - indicate left. At the Kingspark double mini the first one you didn’t indicate (coming from the bingo direction) then went to the second and went straight ahead. Is that to avoid the drivers coming onto the second thinking you’re turning left at the second?

  • @MotoEcosse

    @MotoEcosse

    Жыл бұрын

    Not entirely sure what you mean? First exit - indicate left? That's the usual thing to do. The kings park is a double mini, I went straight across on both mini roundabouts, therefore no need to indicate left or right.

  • @k10daz

    @k10daz

    Жыл бұрын

    Sorry dude - was trying to type that quickly and didn’t really make much sense 😂 At 4:04 when you’re coming up to the roundabout you’re taking first exit even although it’s straight ahead so you indicate left. But at the kings park first one of the double you didn’t, the second one was second exit straight ahead so I get the no need for indication there. Cheers 👍🏼

  • @MotoEcosse

    @MotoEcosse

    Жыл бұрын

    @@k10daz All good dude. So you should always indicate when taking the first exit. The first exit isn't always to the left, it could be straight on like in the video. It can catch you out at first because you think "straight on at a mini, no need to indicate" when it's a situation like this, it's the first exit. There's a good chance examiners will include a mini like this in a Mod 2 test as well. Hope this helps, if you're unsure of anything else let me know. 🤜🤛

    I stalled on a roundabout on my mod 2 and still passed my test. I was cut up by a non indicating car, which was speeding. I didn’t foot down. Did good observations and restated the bike, dropped into first gear, did a shoulder check and managed to pull away before i stopped…!!!!! So be prepared to not foot down if it goes tits up :)

    Another useful video. Can I ask a question about gloves. They vary from 25 to 250ish, such a big difference. My RST gloves were 50. They are ok but could be a bit warmer. Why is there such a difference Is it the name on the side. How much do you need to pay for a good warm pair? Any recommendations?

  • @MotoEcosse

    @MotoEcosse

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey, Beverly. Yeah gloves can vary a lot. Just like any other piece of riding gear. Some have more benefits than others including warmth or may be more breathable for summer. Some are better made and have better protection. I use RST stunt 3 for summer gloves and Richa carbon winter gloves for the colder months. The name does have a part to play but that's also because the bigger companies make really well made gloves. Both my gloves combined cost probably about £80 and they cover me for hot and cold weather plus they provide good protection. My brother's racing gloves for example are about £300 and provide top protection but would you need to pay that for road gloves? I personally don't think so. The biggest thing I don't like about warmer gloves, especially winter style, is they can be quite bulky and it can make using controls like indicators a bit fiddley. I did get a thin pair of thermal gloves. They're made more for snowboarders etc but they're comfy and warm under my RST gloves when it's cold and it means not having to worry about big bulky gloves. Best thing to do is set a budget and go to a dealer and try some on to see what feels best. That's one of the downfalls of buying gloves online. Size could be wrong and just not how you'd thought they'd feel.
