    These are the types of mods I personally love, Everything fits into base game so perfectly I wish devs would compensate people for making stuff like this and add it to base game

    They'll get to that point eventually. Minecraft had a similar thing, where they just started hiring mod developers to add their content into vanilla. Thats how we got horses and other things in Minecraft. Hiring mod developers is a great idea, as they are already familiar with developing, bug fixing, and implementing features for the specific game. What it really takes is budget! You may have noticed it took Microsoft buying Mojang to give the disposable income required to bring on so many extra developers.

    i think thats where mini air pump comes in, altho its not so good at making it vaccum, but thats probably what dev originally intended for you guys to use, airlock door> mini pump > airlock door.

    I have this door for quite some time and to me it seems like a logical technological progression of the game. It may even be made available "higher" in the tech tree but it should definitely be in the game. Still doing liquid locks when you deal with sour gas boiles and/or nuclear reactors seems dirty and cheap

    Yes I agree there should be more technical progression at the end. Like the deep freezer mod. It just seems logical to have a better door or food system by the time you fly into space

    Couldn't we just use 1 has pump and put the gas into a storage then put it back into the system 2 doors 1 pump and a gas storage somewhere

    Exactly what I came here to comment (but better explained). I wonder if there's any intent from the original devs to implement some mod ideas to the original game, but since this video was almost one year ago, I dont believe so

    ​@@jaisummons2304this uses a 2x3 area. With an [Airlock Door-Pump + Atmo QA check inside - Airlock Door] setup, minimum space is about 3 tiles high, 5-6 long. This one "door" buildable is 50%+ more space efficient, not to say of the material and time cost (Depending on what zone is being kept separate from the rest of the Colony, all the devices (Doors, Pumps, Automation wires, devices and power cables) have to be made of high end Materials. The only technical advantage of the cruder method is that you are likely to have it as the vacuum thermal isolating gateway anyways.

    To avoid heat transfer I would imagine you could do something like [COLD] -> [AIRLOCK DOOR] -> [VACUUM] -> [AIRLOCK DOOR] -> [HOT]. That should prevent any heat escaping.

    Not only is this a must-have QoL mod that fits well with the game's narrative, it is also a very well-balanced mod. While it offers an easy way to seal off gases and liquids, including infinite storage areas (the door is impervious to pressure damage), it also comes at a cost. In addition to power and metal costs, the doors is slower to pass through for dupes in atmosuits compared to the liquid locks. In my typical late game base all dupes have athletics of 50 (I use a mod that increases the cap on skills to 50), and the only thing that slows them down are those airlock doors, which I have all over the place.

    I use this one constantly. I always felt like “liquid locks” were a cheap cheat (and additionally broken physics). This mod makes it feel more realistic and proper

    Absolutes. The liquid lock felt off when I learned about it the first time. But creating your own vacuum door setup cancels the pathing for the dupes. This door works like the base game version should.

    Technically liquid locks if built right don't break any real physics, but i agree that regardless of this they feel cheap

    @@nousername8162 The fact that 1 kg of liquid isn't moving with 10000kg of Gas per tile on one side and a vacuum in the other side is pretty cheaty though

    It is kinda crazy how there isn't a version of this in the game considering how well it fits. It really makes you wonder what the intended solution to this would have been? Maybe like a door---> mini-gas and water pump ----> door setup with automation? But that's such a pain to implement every time you wanna access a sealed off room

    It may have been updated. When I used it a while ago the door would trap dupes in the middle if lots of dupes passed through it (exceeding the 7 dupe limit), leading to suffocation.

    Hey luma :) Long time no see! Happy to see that you're talking and sharing the knowledge of this mod. I discovered it last year and it completely change my game haha ^^ I totally agree with you, this SHOULD be in the base game, even if physically waterlock could exist, in the game the mecanics of water walls stacking on another one is not realistic x) Andf unfortunaly, every OnI players must to do waterlock for nearly everything in the game to prevent gaz from moving to somwhere to somewhere else ^^

    Hey Melerickk! How are you doing :) Totally agree. The logic of the stacked liquid lock is a little unintuitive for players. Klei could have exchanged or expanded that with a tech solution like this mod does. Makes more sense with the in game locig. I mean we have printed future humans that can build anything with an all in one tool but an airlock is impossible.

    @@Luma_plays im fine. Didnt played OnI for too long, it miss me. Considering coming back soon when i have finish some other game and project of the moment. And yes, i totally agree about the unlogical setup of waterlock in OnI (specially when you see the form of the water, visually it totally defy the physic). This is even more illogical when we just take a look about how the international Space station and how submarin works. We have already mastered the depressuring airlock/waterlock nowadays.

    oh, that seems nice. actually i've been using the wall pump mod to make a "true airlock" like that for a while : door, one space with pumps top and bottom, door again. costs more materials but has the benefit of keeping the heat out too.

    It does trap dupes in the door but it isn't cuz of bad design, rather because an in game bug where a dupe gets stuck in the door (even when it's in open mode) when it tries to build something on the other side on the door standing on it, and since it's "two doors in one" it happens a lil bit more often Good mod after that

    I just realised you could possibly make this with a mechanised arlock and a gas pump. It just wont be nearly as efficient and also takes up way more power

    People tried hence the mod. The issue with the in game buildings: the pathing of the duplicant will be deleted once both doors are closing. Then the dupe no longer knows what they were doing before and search for a new task. sometimes that's the same often it is not.

    For the cable problem they should add some sort of manual overide function, opening the doors on both ends with no power, but maybe damage the door in the process?

    This mod makes the game feel more realistic. I really prefer this to using liquid air locks (which do not work in reality as the game pretends it to). I can’t help it! I’m the guy who shouts “there is NO NOISE in space!” During a Star Wars movie 😅🤭

    After using this mod for quite sometime I've noticed that critters like dreckos keep getting stuck inside. And when they do get stuck, retrieving them back would be very difficult without deconstructing the airlock doors, causing the airlock to break of course. I've never done a full investigation but I suspect it happens when dupes who are relocating critters entered downtime the moment they got into the door. The issue predates this video by several months, so I don't know if it still persists or if it has been fixed. But it caused so much trauma to me that I uninstalled it and have since gone back to tried and true liquid locks.

    This seems to be a very important point. Good you mentioned it. I haven't tried critter relocation through those doors. But is it really that often of an occurance? I normally fill the ranches and then no more relocating is necessary. You would need to watch the dupes closely when they relocate, that is annoying but only a rare situation. Maybe the Author even sees this :)

    Seems like the door should still open without power, it just wouldn't vacuum the gases from the interior room.

    Since it seem the door doesn't actually let gas inside that would need a rework. But you'll never know what additions a mod might bring in an update or so.

    That's an awesome must for space... damn liquid locks freezing.. Also if you have a vacuum inbetween 2 sets of those doors. It would be a temperature lock also. What happens if it overheats? Stops working?

    Not sure if it has an overheat temperature like regular pneumatic doors or only has a melting point like automatic doors.

    Seems like this does not work all to well for busy corridors. If lots of dupes wants to pass this frequently then they will spend a lot of time waiting. So multiple is necessary which is perfectly fine. But perhaps a major disadvantage compared to the liquid locks

    True just like a busy transit tube access point. The question for each base is how many liquid locks or in the case of the mod airlock doors do I really need? the ones that go into areas with different gases. So probably not too much. And if that area is still busy like a walk in fridge with chlorine, then a little bit improving the situation might be the better solution. (My walk in fridge was a pain so I changed the setup)

    I hate liquid lock. This is so much better. I love the genius behind liquid lock but it you know it is not the intention of developer to be part of it.

    Understandable. They are not intuitive. If you try to play the game without youtube knowledge (like I did in the beginning when i bought the game) you basically have no chance of playing the game effective.

    This looks nice but why not put the power module on either doors instead of middle would make it less annoying. Otherwise you can use a 3 block high space between 2 doors with minipump and sensor to always keep a vacuum in the middle incase a dupe exhales there

    I think i read that that would make existing game files buggy or broken. But yes the power input at one of the sides would be a fix.

    Hi David :). You mean 2 doors automation and some pumps? There are a few sezups and you can try it yourself; but the issue is as soon as the doors close and lock in vanilla the dupes task and plan basically gets deleted. So they don't know what they wanted to do once on the other side. Delivery task through such a system would be a pain. So yes technically already in the game but since the dupes can't orientate through locked doors not viable.

    So umm, does it just destroy whichever gases enter the space between the doors? Cuz I see no gas output. Or is it an entirely aesthetic thing that it makes vacuum inside and consumes energy as a result

    Just tested it and the gas amount stays exactly the same on both sides. (If your dupes wear an atmo suit of course).

    Does this mode allow to kill the gas, which comes to it's middle or there is a vent output for gas ?

    The gases don't actually move (or are put back to their respective side). If you have 2kg of hydrogen at the left and 4kg of oxygen at the right: after a dupe walks through the door the values should still be the same.

    The mod is interesting, but useless. We have a gateway with 3 doors and a button, which can work without electricity.

    It's handy. No doubt... But in start to mid game around 70-100. I usually acquire atmo suits... So no issues on soaping wet debuff. But in starting game phase... This is a life saver.. I haven't used yet😅😅.. but it is handy... I know..

    Gute Frage hab eben getestetd ob es einen Gasverlust gibt. Kein Verlust; und das jeweilige Gas bleibt auf der jeweiligen Seite.
