Absolutely not true and dangerous. Any sudden noise, or an animal, or unfamiliar human coming along can easily cause the cat to dart away and potentially not return. Pls don't spread misinformation. I've been in the rescue world for a very long time.@@farminky

@blondewriter99 I live next to a golf course and every night for the past 5 years we have walked without any leash. Humans are not the problem but any dog approaching will cause them to either jump up onto my shoulder or climb the nearest tree. When the danger has passed we continue. I have taken both cats on long mountain hikes and it is not any issue. Your point is valid for walks in an urban environment.

Yes, grass helps a cat’s digestion. Taz was a hiker when he adopted you, so being outside is almost second nature to him-so many things to see, smell, touch, and listen to! That flicking tail tells me he is enjoying this outing with you immensely. Cats are desert animals. They like things a bit warmer than humans. My kitty Griff boy loves basking in a warm sunlit window. A pop-up nylon shade for you would be nice, and Taz might enjoy it, too!

No true. I've rescued many outdoor cats. Most are quite happy to remain inside and show zero interest, even fear, of the outdoors. it really all depends on a cat's unique personality and has nothing to do with his/her history.

Taz is making excellent progress. You're also going to have to get him used to being carried on hikes as well. Because cats normally don't walk for hours at a time like some of your hikes last. So he'll need a break by being carried. Yes, cats can eat grass.

It was fate for you to be on that bridge because now you have a complete winner for a cat! I would be so proud if that were my cat! Much Love of from the Great Lakes US! 🩵💚💛

Wow what a handsome dude cat he is, like some one wrote he almost look like a white tiger. He’s so busy checking out stuffs. I love the way you described him double checking the tree, and joking about the grass. When you fed him, reminds me of young Taz wolfing down, the stick treats you gave him. How wonderful you brought water, of course after all his dad is a professional hiker. I see a future Taz professional hiker of rivers & trails. God willing will join the patreon in the near future. My female cat who’s 11 yrs old, 8 mths and 23 days on Thursday, had a dental op. Four teeth taken out, the rest were scaled clean. Altogether it cost me around £800/- I still owe the same vets for my other male cat, that had a urinary blockage within 4 mths, after his first operation, his op, besides scans, urine tests, x-rays etc,was £3,000/- and he’s now on special diet, he’s 10 yrs old. I wrote last time, we started going out again, the other morning, he wanted to chase a fox. I did not see the fox, but he was alert, and suddenly he dashed off, then I saw the fox. Of course I stopped him, he growled at me. You’re a natural with Taz. I have high hopes for both of you. Think about a pet health plan whilst he’s still young and very healthy, although most pet plans don’t cover dental works, but if anything were to happen, touch wood not, it will save you money. My cats are now too old and have underlying health issues, so it will be premium. I have started saving for them. I wished you all the best, please anyone able to, become a patreon to Taz & his very loving and proud dad. BTW I have started brushing my male cat’s teeth, he’s getting used to it, and almost seems to be enjoying it. Haha I remember the first time you met Taz; ‘you wouldn’t like the city, go back under the bridge’ he kept on climbing than following you….😂😁 Boy, how much he’s grown since than. The end of vide, it’s been a week since I had Taz, you got everything, cat tree, bed, toys 😁😆💜 When a cat chose you, it’s meant to be very special. Thank for a lovely Video. M going to share this with my nephew tomorrow, god willing. All the best from us 3. Oh ya I try to put a link in the future, for a really nice harness made of leather, but it’s quite expensive £55/- My male cat (m not sharing their names sorry) have 4 harness, depending on the weather. He’s lost some weight since his last operation in November last year, so I myself am holding out buying this leather harness. It’s a ‘step in’ harness, whilst most harness are either through the head, or Velcro fastening. All harness are charming in their own ways. Definitely need a steady, not too tight, not too loose harness. I wished I could join your channel, who knows maybe in the future. Bye Taz & Taz’s ‘dad’ 💜☮💜

A suggestion: pair the "come on" command with a gentle tug on the leash to get his attention, and make a show of walking in the direction you want him to go. Taz will naturally want to stay with you, so by prompting him to catch up you can dictate what direction he's moving. And of course, reinforce this by giving him praise and some petting when he comes over to you.

My adopted cat walks without harness or lead. She expects walks like a canine would. She appeared on my window sill, 8 yrs ago. Full grown & appeared pregnant, but she wasnt. She was as adamant as this kitten is. I later found out her original owner was elderly & was relocated to a nursing home. No one took her in & she was abandoned. I knew nothing about her until someone in my neighborhood recognized her. She was 6 yrs old when she found me. I didnt know her name, so I named her Becca, since she seemed to react to. She's a big cat, but she carries herself well. She's over 12 years old today but she doesn't act like her age. I us3d to be more of a canine kind of guy, but she broke that mold. You cant beat unconditional love! They're always happy to be with you. It's mutual.

Taz and CatDad out for an adventure! I love it! Grass for cats is very good. I always keep some available for my trio of indoor cats…it helps their digestion (it can also result in some hacked hairballs, but that’s the way they get hair out of their system and is just a part of cat ownership). Taz’s tail sure tells a story when he is out and about…he’s very confident and happy 😊

Hey Taz, tell your daddy if no one has mentioned it yet, cats prefer running or moving water. Flowing water in the wild will be cleaner than stagnant still water and is just more appealing to animals in genera, due to instinct. Try one of the many cat water fountains for sale, some have adjustable water flow which is nice for the kitty. 😻💦💧 You can also fill a bowl with water and put a buoyant kitty safe toy in there, he can "go fishing" and use those hunting skills too!

I love and healthy envy your story with Taz. I love the care you take of him. I love his fur, he is like a snow leopard. Humans lost their fur in order to sweat more and thus be able to walk or trot longer distances. Many of our prey fell to tiredness after long slow chases. Wolves use a similar tactic and thus became our dogs. Cats are different, and I'm happy you understand it. Still, with the right conditions you can have very entertaining hikes for both of you. I will look forward to your channel. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱.

I don't know if you are going to read this, and I am sure you've done your research, but nothing wrong with sharing some tips. Cats, unlike dogs, do not have a build in aim to please. If you want a cat to follow commands it needs to have a positive or negative motivator. Does he have favourite toys? When you say 'come on', entice him with a toy, make him want to catch it. Make it more interesting than what he is looking at at the moment and he will come. Snacks can help too. I imagine 'Stop' will be more difficult, but I think if you just stop the leash, and imediately release pressure the moment he stops, it will have the best results. Most animals do not like pressure, and the release will be the reward. Cats are independent and curious things though, he'll of course never walk and listen like a dog. Also, is he comfortable with you carrying him? Cats like high places and he might love to use your shoulder as a great look out tower. If he feels safe there it will definitely help in case he gets spooked by a random deer, person or dog. Love your videos mate, keep it up

I love and healthy envy your story with Taz. I love the care you take of him. I love his fur, he is like a snow leopard. Humans lost their fur in order to sweat more and thus be able to walk or trot longer distances under the hot african sun. Many of our prey fell to tiredness after long slow chases. Wolves use a similar tactic but in a colder climate, they didn't lose their fur but pant much more than other animals in order to lose heat during their chases. Thus they became our dogs when we met them after leaving Africa. Cats are different, and I'm happy you understand it. Still, with the right conditions you can have very entertaining hikes for both of you. I will look forward to your channel. Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱.

@@--Taz-- I live in central coastal Chile, in a template area. It's been a cold summer! It has been like this since the pandemic. Before it tempertures were crazy in summer, with lots of forest fires. Almost none up to now, though february and specially march are the hottest months and they are still to come...
