Had a look at their online store. Hope they do really well out of it. It's a brave strategy with our current wave of knife related crime. As someone who has carried knives since childhood ( now retired) I suppose this is how americans must feel about guns being used in mass shootings and the subsequent wave of public revulsion. Guns are designed as weapons though, whereas knives are primarily a tool first. Like our cousins across the water I dont like the idea that the gov decides I can't use my tools, because some kids are stabbing each other....mainly with kitchen knives, it turns out. Anyway, really like what this UK company are trying to do and I will definitely support them. Subbed.

Perfect timing. I will be ordering mine very soon once the guys at twisted have kindly stonewashed a clip for me! I usually don't go for double detents but I don't mind with this one due to the flipper tab doubling as a kind of safety choil. And it's cool ordering from them as they're just a couple of villages down the road from me!

First review I've seen of this and something I'm seriously interested in based on the legality in the UK, Need a one handed opener for my job and most I use are linetlocks, hopefully this will retire my Spyderco 🤞

Tempted to get one for indoor use rather than EDC. Orange scales, so when I have put it down on a cluttered desk, I can spot it easily!

I’m about to pull the trigger on one of these but the black belt barrister has an interesting comment on the legality of flippers. Regardless of length of blade, the government apparently changed the law so flippers can be classed as automatic knives. Stupid, I know but you may be in hot water if you aren’t careful. kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6uor6hxid2rnbQ.htmlsi=wFwD6pK2VO5W1ce8

It is utter nonsense. The legislation clearly stipulates "automatic". Manually flipping a blade out is not automatic at all. He is a great guy but he gives incredibly conservative advice.

@@thatgearguymy take away was that it does state “flick knife”. And to a non knife person such as my brother in law he did actually mistake my boker kwaiken for a “gangster” knife. By which I think he meant automatic switch blade. But in any case, Uk knife laws are utterly illogical and about to get worse if labour get voted in. I read that they plan on expanding the list of “offensive weapons”. Yep and a £1 kitchen knife from pound land could never be used as an offensive weapon and criminals follow the law…🤡

I do really like these knives but they are cutting it a bit fine (pun intended) with the size of the blade its literally bang on the limit. Which i get is fine but part of me doesnt like the slight uncertainty....I bought a ukpk a while back and actually measured it a mil or 2 over 3 inch. Phoned heinnie and they measured one while on the phone and confirmed i wasnt crazy they are actually a smidge over. Not exactly ideal if you wind up in court. Went for the urban instead. Love it

I like the knife but I stopped collecting knives because we never know what’s going to be banned. I have friends who purchased knives and had to try recoup the purchase value when it was banned. The government view knives like this as trick knives. You flick it in out a load of times they view that as a disorder . It’s a tool for them to use a evidence against knives. I’m not against knives in any way but I worry that you guide the powers that be toward evidence for the next ban.

I agree. Sitting wherever, flicking a blade in and out repeatedly becomes very boring very quickly, and I don't and wouldn't even think to do it in a public place ( in public view ) or around others, especially the elderly, children, women, JC men aswell, because it highly likely to put peoples nerves on edge and be rather frightening and I would speculate that it's just very annoying for others aswell, and tbh if I saw anyone doing it in public I'd think that they were being a dick, and if a mate of mine was doing it whilst in my company I'd find it irritating as hell. I imagine that grand parents, parents, girlfriends, wives, partners etc all over the UK just absolutely love being in the company of their partner/wife/grand child, son or daughter ( or non binary ) whilst their partner flicks a knife open and closed repeatedly! lol! The Hoo flippers are garbage aswel, infact the V1 first release was a ridiculously stupid design which had to be revised, a double detent situated up at the spine! The revised V1 was a little better but not by much. I'm mentioning this because the Hoo V1's and the V3 and soon to be released V4 Tanto are all UK legal carry flipper designs so I'm not discriminating and targeting TA as a company, just the concept of UK legal carry flipper knives. The phrase that " A knife is a tool " is constantly used, and I think a knife IS a tool but also it's not a TOY, but saying that there are also certain recreational activities that involve knives, so it's a case of what an individual decides defines whether a certain design of knife defines it as a toy? My grandfather who was a WWII combat veteran used to say that " Little things please little minds " and I see the sense in that and especially since I passed the age of 25 and that happened almost 30 years ago. I have no doubt in my mind what my dear grandfather's opinion and attitude would've been about UK legal carry flippers. Knives such as these are going to cause alot of problems because not every individual over the age of 18 is going to exercise discretion and behave in a socially responsible and considerate manner and there I agree with you, I think that these types of knives could hasten a banning of all flipper knives in the not so distant future. I have plenty of what I deem as moderate to even heavy use flipper framelock and some linerlock knives and many of them are much better designs than double detent flipper knives. The banned Balisong knives were fun to mess about with and do tricks with when I was a kid hanging with my friends and we did so with ill intentions, but that was when we were kids.
