Best UK legal EDC Ever? The Twisted Assisted Junzi!

The Junzi is a sub 3" non locking slipjoint knife which makes it ideal for EDC in the UK and many other countries with strict knife laws. It is a collaboration between Bestech and UK based company Twisted Assisted. The knife is customizeable, ergonomic and can be opened and closed easy with one hand. The review takes a look at fit, finish, materials, dimensions and weight. This has quickly become my go-to option for UK EDC.

Superb knife. Picked one up from twisted assisted a few days ago in black micarta. So many one handed uk legal openers miss the mark for me but this one is such a gem. Doesn’t feel like it’s squeezed within the absurd restrictions that we’re under (don’t get me started 😅). Looks good, feels good, smooth action. Blows the Ukpk out of the water imo. And £60-£70 is a great value too! 👍

I’m starting to stockpile’not a collector lol’ some manual flippers and other single handed openers as i could see the law changing at some point to ‘clarify’ the current vague wording concerning blade deployment methods. I can see them banning any knife that can be opened one handed keeping the knife body in one position in the hand. Wish i’d of collected more assisted openers when i had a chance.

you should perhaps look at the Civivi Foldis. It is a front flipper slip joint. Also you need to be more careful although the act says sharpened length it is the length from handle scales to tip of the blade this has been the case since 2005 when Case law added this amendment.

That's the first time I've heard someone with an English accent pronounce 'solder' using the American pronunciation with the silent letter 'L'.

@thatgearguy Hi , I've been looking at the Hoo knives v3... Instantaneous one handed flipper opening . Expensive tho... But , on this video you never measured the twisted assisted knife blade from the handle end to the tip ... it looks to me like it's either exactly 3 inch or extremely close... Could you clarify the actual blade length ? ( not the cutting edge length ) Cheers..

Thanks. I was looking to get a new UK legal knife. I was thinking of getting the Boker XS. I already have the UKPK and Luna. I have purchased this from Twisted Assisted after watching your video.

Great to hear! This is definitely a nicer knife than the Boker XS which is really stiff to open. The Junzi is a pleasure in comparison!!

Nice looking knife, but the ukpk in S110v is better, (but more expensive,).. I'd never carry that Boker, as well as looking very tactical, it's also illegal,,,

The "blade" itself can be over 3 inches, the legislation wording is very specific and it specifically says "the cutting edge of its blade" any blade with a 3 inch cutting edge will be slightly longer due to finger choil or ricasso which almost all folding knives have. You cannot be charged for a knife with dead on 3 inches of cutting edge as it says 3 inches or less not that it must be under 3 inches. It's not hard to memorise the section of the legislation or carry a small card with it printed and all police can electronically pull up the act to check so no solicitor needed in that regard, I've had this argument with police several times with random car searches and they always reluctantly walk away empty handed.

  • @thatgearguy

You can still be charged. If the Police do not understand the wording they will charge you anyway and leave it up to the court to decide.

@@thatgearguy never known that to happen yet and at that point I'll gladly go to court and privately prosecute them for false imprisonment and theft for taking the knife unlawfully. The wording really isn't that hard to understand so if the sergeant of the station can't even get to clear it up before charges are pressed for it then something's seriously wrong and needs to be addressed.

Of course it will all work out fine. I just dont have the hours to spare these days. If I go to a town (which is rare) I will carry something which raises the least possible concern. The Junzi fits the bill nicely.

@MDM unfortunately it has happened look into uk case law, stupid as it is, its now the entire length of the blade that gets measured. You could try and fight it but that will leave you out of pocket and probably with a conviction.

The knife laws in Britain are just ridiculous stop the criminals not the innocent working man that needs a knife that doesn't shut on you're fingers.

The working man can still have just that. I carry a locking blade and fixed blade for work always.
