Minelab Gold Monster 1000 vlf sensitivity

Ғылым және технология

After watching so many videos from people who don't know how to run a VLF i decided to shoot this video to explain how auto sensitivity or ground balance works vs manual.

Great review. Been using my GM1K for a few weeks now. Since I find myself in an area that is not known for particular gold deposits, no gold yet to be find. Biggest find so far has been a 34g / 1.2 ounces nugget (platinum, tin or lead) 25 cm / 10 inch down. Havent had time to identified it yet. Was an exiting day prospecting.

Hi Dustin, good demo and helped me make my decision to buy. Wanted something for checking out false bedrock, clay layers, benches and bedrock area's when digging in the river. Not got out prospecting with it yet but tried it on pieces of gold following your tips in the video and getting better results than I'd hoped for! Picking up one piece that's a 20th of a gram (0.05g)! Gotta be fairly close to it but you get a definite hit. Never owned a detector before but really looking forward to getting out and having a go with this. Thanks for this informative, honest review. Really has helped. Dave, UK.

Gday mate, Me too bought gm1000 4 weeks ago. Great to have some positive feedback back on this detector as its the first detector i have owned. So far spent about 10 days swinging this machine, still no gold, although plenty of brass and lead, but i aint giving up. Your video has shown me i havent been using it properly to its full potential. Took it to heathcote last week and had a hard time keeping it stable. Will be fitting small coil next time, or in highly mineralised areas. In less mineralised areas it works well, unfortunately theres less gold there. Cheers Paul

My first play with it showed some positive outcomes. Looking forward to getting away in a month or so and really having a play. I was a bit depressed reading all the other reviews. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this video, mate! Probably the best clip I have seen explaining the sensitivity nuances of the GM1000. I also liked your point around grounding it, especially if changing settings. My preference is to turn up towards 10 on manual settings, but if the ground is too hot, I bring it back towards 6. Cheers!

Helped a lot...I have one of these and I can see I was using it wrong. I generally used the gold sensitivity setting (can’t remember the right term, but the setting you have used and not the “all metal” setting), but I had my sensitivity higher than 6, and sometimes I used the plus setting. I couldn’t get repeat signals, and didn’t understand why not, but from your video I think I’ll have better success next time. I’m in the golden triangle, and it’s pretty heavily mineralised, so I probably should have used 5 or 6 sensitivity

Thanks for the video i got one of these 4 weeks ago and im still learning to use it and after seeing the other videos you are referring to i was starting to think i wasted my money, although i did notice they were not using the detector they way its designed , Im hoping to find my first piece of gold with this detector . It can be quite noisy on the ground im using it on (northern VIC )in all metal mode but when you find a piece of lead it is really clear so i imagine this would be the same on gold.

  • @GoldRatEngineering

Shane Tanner spot on mate lead and gold have very similar responses. My advice is if you are feeling unsure go into a shop buy a small piece of gold and take it with you on the day. Drop it on the ground set your sensitivity and off you go. The first piece is always the hardest

Hey mate i did actually and i ran it in northern nsw and qld, clermont on some really hot ground i loved it. It has some really good advanced settings i ended up selling it to a mate in victoria who wanted to try it. I had to pay for a warehouse move so few detectors went. He said the gm had a slight edge in ground he was working. Ive heard the exact opposite for qld. So i guess it really depends on atmospherics a bit. Thank god theres so many good options out there now. 24k hands down on weight and backpackability

Haha I made this exact video was so sick of seeing people say it's a shit machine when they clearly didn't understand it and the auto feature I love it hear in nz I run it in max manual it has alot of ground noise but any propper target stands out like crazy ... I have recently switched to the nox 800 and 6 inch coil as have found in my tests in gold 2 will hit the same tiny tiny gold as the monster but can also stop and hint old trash tailings etc and its completely waterproof and we get alot of rain Haha but I'd never sell my monster I run it on one piece of the shaft so about 1 foot long total Haha and put it in my back pack and when I'm using my sdc or something I use it to check targets save digging holes for iron crap
