Those were very crude 1.6 cannons but actually generally pretty good. TNT and creepers got a buff in 1.8 so this cannon Mumbo shows here was pretty much impossible in 1.6. The one in the handbooks would also work way better today.

Good idea, but I don't think signs would work better. Signs have this annoying property where if the supporting sign breaks all the signs break. Great for traps but not great for moats. A simpler solution is to place string to the height limit. However, do you want to be the one placing string all the way to the height limit? A more time efficient solution would be to place string 3 meters above the moat and 3 meters of string around the moat. Making it so you have to break string to place anything in the range of the guardians.

A way to upgrade the 10 minute one is to make a pitfall under the tnt zone with cobwebs with gravel over it with lava under it so if all the other stuff dosent kill them the pitfall will

I think the best TNT cannon I've ever seen was from a NoahCraft video about 5 years ago. It was a TNT war and he made this cannon called "the pee gun cannon". It was a epic rain of TNT. The sucky part is there was a few updates that fixed it and that cannon no longer functions correctly.

I figured out how to make the most effective cannon. You need to have three dispensers in the beginning part, separated from the projectile spot by a fence with a pressure plate on top. You’ll want three dispensers going into the same spot after the fence and pressure plate, and have the projectile tnt dispense exactly 41 ticks after the propellant tnt so its dispensed one tick before it’s launched, for max distance.
