To make each secret entrance into the next base more protected, I would add a full exit to each room. So that in each base if they find it, they can use the exit and never realize there was more base to find.

Nah, you have to add the exit to like the 3rd base because if every base has an exit it becomes less surprising but if only one base has it then you can trick someone much easier.

The secret room I was the most proud of, was the one in my very first build. The castle itself was really simplistic, a mostly underground cobblestone-lined affair with a basic layout, and the entrance to the secret room was hidden behind one of the sets of bookshelves around the enchanting table. To open it you had to rotate one of the item frames and THEN open one of the chests, which was actually a trapped chest.

Smelting coal ore with coal would have been perfect

That's honestly the reason I never particularly bothered with hidden bases. Because it's Minecraft, and if someone wanted to get in, they can easily do so just by mining blocks. Plus, if they don't know your base is nearby and they're just mining, they could accidentally run into it and destroy some of your redstone circuits.

A cool idea for an exit for the final room is to take a bubble column up, and have a slime block launcher covered by a door that launches you into a nearby pond. I love these types of videos, would love to see more!

I love it how he builds everything with super complex redstone, and then exits the last hidden base just with breaking and replacing a block… of grass 😂

The entire video was super fun, I think it would be really awesome to have hidden rooms within hidden rooms within hidden rooms, the only two things I think would make this even better: 1. Although the ending was super funny, I would at least not put it next to the primary entrance, since I feel like someone who wanted to find your base and found the (approximate) location of the first room could accidentally end up in the final room by mistake. 2. The rooms should have a way to retrurn to the previous room, so if you want to show someone part of your build, you can without having to reveal every single secret just to get them out.

With mumbo maybe not coming back to hermitcraft for s9, i'm wishing that he'd do something like this for his vault if he did come back. Such a fun concept that would be pretty awesome to see in hermitcraft.

Never change mumbo you've been my favourite Minecraft KZreadr for as long as I can remember, I think 2013; the fact that I can keep coming back to you over the years to get hopped up on nostalgia is so important to me. You're still here when Club Penguin gave up, when Roblox became crap, and when I had to grow up and become an adult, I can come back here to remember the good old days. I think it’d be great if you invited a friend to this world to try to solve each room They’d start off at the closed entrance and given all the items needed to proceed (a shovel, redstone ore, a bow and arrow, empty bottles, etc) and just turned them loose The provided items give enough of a hint to not be hopelessly lost, but the lack of instruction on which item is for which room makes it like those point and click adventure games And of course they’re not allowed to break blocks until they reach the diamond room

after seeing that painting opportunity in the chill room get ignored you wont believe how happy i was to see it get used a few rooms later cant beat the classics

It would be great to see a video on making hidden bases in hidden bases where the room gets 1 block bigger each time, I think that's a good challenge to add something unique and new in each room as well as new Redstone contraptions

People say he’s still making more hidden bases to this day.

My morbid self thought the last room could only be exited by starving to death. Like in a mocking, artsy way. Like a metaphor for going through all those hoops for wealth only to be left unable to claim it, least of all take it with you after death.

The biggest weaknesses is that one friend that breaks the blocks instead of opening the doors up how they should

If you think of it a hidden room behind a painting is actually pretty secure cause nobody's gonna think someone is dumb enough to do it, so they won't even check.

Sweet base. Only thing I would do different is put the walk thru painting one block up so you have to jump into the painting :)

Imagine saying, “ Hey I’m going to go mine some dirt,” then you mine into a room just full of diamonds

Tip for the painting one: you could add a door instead of signs, then you have another mechanism (or just you have to place a lever) to open it!

@Little Grape everyone walks into paintings, that's like the oldest trick in the book. If you can, though, make a 1.5x1 opening (with a plank on the top) behind a big painting so you can only get in crouch walking in the right place. That minimizes people accidentally walking in or trying to find the entrance if they dont know where it is. Also put up lots of decoy paintings.

My friend: "Why you always have 2 pieces of dirt?" Me: "Don't worry about it."

Mumbo, Incase you want some inspiration for your vault project in HermitCraft Season 9. I think this might just be it. Use it as a minigame for Hermits (Grian).

i mean it was impressive, but its the art gallery that gets me. what advanced minecraft secrets is the exit of this place? watched it back and i just cant figure out the magic thats hiding behind the painting.
