yesss, green! the colour of JUSTICE! I think you should do your best to be an impartial party to any suits that come up, and anything that comes up that you may be impacted by you should get 3 impartial Hermits in to be the "jury", and lock them in the sweat-tank until they come to a unanimous consensus like "12 Angry Men" (but the 1950s version with Henry Fonda, please)

I think it would be cool if, whenever there is a new case, you send a "you have jury duty!" through the mail to a couple of random hermits, who then sit and watch and decide if they think the defendant is guilty or innocent. Feel like that would have a new level of participation :]

BDubs, if you’re looking to increase your staff, you might consider hiring one of the Hermits as a process server (I serve papers full-time, and we servers are definitely overlooked as an interesting part of the whole court system). Because service through mail generally isn’t allowed, it would be pretty fun if you hired a Hermit to go out and serve papers to the Hermit that’s being sued and let them know that they have to appear at the courthouse! Some funny attempts at evading being served might ensue as well. For criminal cases, constables will sometimes do the serving, so you could just get one of the Poe Poe to do it, but seeing a civil process server repped on the HermitCraft server would be really cool to me.

I like what Etho said about people not coming out... What if there was a trap door under the witness stand. When they're guilty, you can hit the button & drop them into a cell. It could also be useful to have an escape tunnel from your office. Just in case the people object.

It would be so funny to do that and just not tell the first person on trial!

As an architecture student I love your builds, and this one is amazing, it's so 19th century historicism. The classical coding of a civil institution, the modular walls showing framework construction, the rough colors and heavyness remind me of Schinkel buildings. I also absolutely love that you try to do things wwith lighting, even though it's not really something well developed in minecraft, and the mechanic of monsters spawning in the dark make minecraft build really sterile when it comes to lighting, because it incentivises just flatly lighting up everything in your builds. You are on a completly different level than most builders because you see much more layers of expression you can use. Outstanding stuff really

A subtle detail you didn't mention but I'm really impressed by is using the iron trapdoors between the slabs on the pediment. Usually when I want to get that slope I do a repeating pattern of slab, stair, block. This has to be a minimum of 1 block thick (from the block on the previous layer the stair and slab are done in reverse) so it's cool to know there is a way to get it slightly thinner.

Yeah I agree with what you mentioned about the studio lights. I don't think it does it for me either. I was initially confused by the studio lights until you mentioned what they were, and I believe that's do to the iron bars. After looking up images of soundstages to make sure I wasn't off-base, the rigging irl appears to be darker. It has a greater contrast with the bright lights. While I agree with the sentiment to use iron bars for a sense of scale, I don't think it works in terms of color. The only physical difference I noted with the lights I saw on the soundstage images is that the pivots are on the sides, but I'm not really sure how you could improve a light design so small? My main impression is that I don't get the sense they're studio lights due to the surrounding context (where they're placed, i.e. the rigging beams) being off. It's not helped by the fact that the iron bars blend into the diorite above. Luckily, with chains and netherbrick/dark oak fences you have a lot of options if you swap the palette.
