People keep giving flak about the Sage Mode thing without understanding 'bad at sage mode' doesn't necessarily mean not being able to use perfect sage mode but rather other issues with making it viable in combat. Minato is a perfectionist who habitually downplays what he hasn't honed to perfection but what he means about Sage Mode is probably that he can't gather nature chakra fast enough to get satisfactory use out of it and standing still long enough to do so clashes severely with his high speed style. Jiraiya had the old toads on his shoulders while Naruto used shadow clones to store charges but those aren't really viable workarounds for Minato. Maybe with more time and motivation he could've developed a seal for it, especially since he'd need it to throw the completed rasengan once he'd worked out how to add elemental chakra to it like he was planning to.

Minato went sage mode in seconds though…. As a perfect sage. But his style of fighting is attacking quickly. Those few seconds are too slow for him, even if it’s far superior to all the other sage users we have seen except Hashirama

@@Krazyyy7 It doesn't seem to take long for Naruto to activate Sage Mode either but gathering enough chakra to activate it isn't the same as gathering enough to last you a whole fight. Either you need to spend more time on the initial buildup so you don't run out at an inconvenient time or you'll need cover to pause between uses mid fight.

Naruto needs to sit down and mediate to gather the energy. He needs a good amount of time to enter it. The fact Minato thinks it’s useless is because he legit wins fights in milliseconds…. He just teleports and ends the fight. He doesn’t need to use it and those few seconds just waste his time. That’s all I’m saying

@@Krazyyy7 problem is that there are multiple things/statements that go against Minato and Sage mode, first Kakashi mentions Minato isn't great at sage and Minato interrupts and agrees he's not good a senjutsu, that's both Kakashi and Minato saying he sucks at sage mode and even admits he's never used it in combat. Edo Minato's body is made of a White Zetsu, which is made of Hashirama cells and we all know how good Hashi is with senjutsu, Minato's Edo form could have benefited from Hashi cells to enhance his senjutsu absorption.(obviously just head canon) Next is Minato actually stands still for multiple panels before turning into perfect Sage whilst Madara is in the middle of a monolog so Minato could potentionally be gathering senjutsu through out. Lastly iirc Minato has zero feats in Sage mode, yes he goes into sage mode and attacks Madara because only Taijutsu and Senjutsu worked against him but he still fails in his attack, so he has no feats in sage mode.

I like how you point out at 6:19 that Minato has flying raijin on top of being as fast as the Raikage, because I know a lot of people think Minato's speed only comes from being able to use the jutsu which is....just 100% false so yeah glad you said that Six 👍

My interpretation of when it is stated Minato isn't good at using sage mode is that he is extremely good at activating sage mode but it is not useful for his arsenal. Nearly all buffs sage mode would give Minato would not realistically help him with most opponents that he would have to fight when alive. For example, sage mode makes you faster with faster reaction times but Minato already was the fastest when he was alive. Sage mode makes you stronger, but Minato could already cut through Bijuu tails with his kunai. Sage mode gives you better sensory capabilities but Minato is already a sensor type. Nearly all buffs given by sage mode weren't really needed and wouldn't help Minato to beat any realistic opponent when he was alive and therefore he wasn't affective at utilising the buffs given by sage mode meaning he wasn't good at sage mode.

Minato simply have no reason to ever perfect sage mode. It takes time to activate. Minato ends pretty much every fight he is ever in within seconds. The only 2 people that ever contested him were Killer Bee and Obito. Both of which were marked by the end of the encounter. Without Bee, the Raikage would have already died.

I like feats from the games, such as creation of the Akatsuki. It gives more screen time to characters that get brushed off. Some things in it are stretching like full susano for Shisui itachi but other than that, has lots of things that add more overall watch time for Naruto nd such

As you said, the real feat is minato being able to teleport there, catch the orbs, teleport away and remove the jacket pretty much instantaneously. Regardless of how fast madara threw the orbs or if they're slower than his combat speed (they probably are), still a crazy feat

The Minato that Naruto is referenced to when Kakashi sees him is him as Hokage as that's the only time he wears a cloak. When he outspeeds the raikage he is referenced more so to the jonnin Minato not Hokage as Tsunade says like the yellow flash not like the fourth. Also Tsunade was nerfed against Orochimaru as she's not trained in years, and had other worries. A better reference to her abilities is vs Madara not vs Orochimaru. It should also be known that the sannin in base is what they are known for not there enhanced states as Tsunade hadn't used the 100 heals with Orochimaru as well as not seen with it when they were a team, Jirayia also doesn't like to use Sage mode and hadn't gained it until after being named a sannin, and it could be implied that Orochimaru doesn't have white snake power until after he leaves the village. Each of which being consider as Kage before despite their enhanced states except possibly Jirayia though it implied that Hiruzen thought he was worthy for a long time.

Only KCM onwards wins. if minato disperses his kunai Gaara can move them around due to the sand control. He would have nowhere to teleport. Also Mei can turn the landscape into water so his kunai just sinks to the bottom. minato struggled with child obito

4:50 i think naruto just means tht he needs to change the way he fights because ever since he was a kid, he just brute forces his way through most probelms and uses a bit of trickery to help him out (the subs dont insinuate this as well as what was actually said in japanese). Losing Kurama would mean that he is weaker than he was but he can emulate a different style of fighting (like that of maybe kakashi or sasuke) in order to become more precise instead of spamming jutsu that takes up an ungodly amount of chakra.

I don't see how Mei can beat Tsunade. There is an argument though for her being able to cripple Gaara's sand. Although, Mizukage Gengetsu, who let's be real is a better fighter than Mei, had to use his infinite explosion Jutsu for not getting overwhelmed by Gaara's sand. He was able to hide into Gaara's pyramid Jutsu cause Gaara needed to seal him. But Mei would just be crushed into that, or just buried a hundred feet below the ground. Mei can launch a couple of lava waves, but even kid Gaara could turn a forest into a desert. His area of attack is on another level. He can just turn the all ground into sand and Mei is done. Mei just looks to be the weakest of the group for 1v1.

If it’s edo minato I can see that but idk if alive minato can beat them in a 5 v 1

Scaling the 5 Kage is difficult. We do things like scale Tsunade to the other Sannin who we scale to Hiruzen to get some sense of where she’s at, but then we get stuff like Hiruzen having edo speed feats that are on par with Tobirama who is, in several instances, competing with sage Obito and Madara in speed (this is a no context statement because KZread sucks for debate, but we all know the panels). The feats we see throughout the series just have issues with consistency, which I think we either need to throw some things out as plot induced stupidity, or admit that outlier feats exist because of momentary amps for one narrative reason or another. Like if Deadpool shot and killed Galactus with a gun, do we start scaling Deadpool to cosmic levels or do we throw it out and say that’s stupid, we’re not using this? That might be ridiculous until you hear about things like Carnage infecting Silver Surfer. So do we scale Tsunade to Hiruzen who scales in an outlier instance to Tobirama who has relevant speed feats to Jubito and Jubidara? I think most people would agree that Tsunade is not as fast as these characters, but I do think that we look too much at direct scaling and not enough at narrative when looking at these conversations, and I think it’s a little out of hand to say Minato would beat the 5 kage at once when they managed to get Madara on his back foot who scales to Hashirama who I think the community agrees would beat Minato in a fight, despite being slower. Speed isn’t everything, and I think the kage are fast enough to at least defend themselves. That coupled with the overall difference between their combined chakra pools compared to Minato and I think it’s at least reasonable to say he’d get exhausted before he can finish the job, maybe KCM withstanding

Madara was playing with them like action figures doe , I honestly think Minato would’ve did better then then 5 kage . Just think about it, not only was Minato fighting obito he was also fighting a full half of the kurama (yin and yang), transported biju bombs and , even the nine tails and still had chakra to spare, figured out obito ability in one encounter. the only reason why he died was due to the nine tails intelligence at aiming at naruto. Do u think the kages would’ve been able to beat obito(yea it was a younger one just now using his full abilities) but this was a minato who wasn’t even in his prime yet. I don’t even think he was hokage for 3+ years

@@3rday600 I’m pretty sure Minato said that he wasn’t that good at using Sage mode which is different from saying it wasn’t mastered. Even if he said he didn’t master it he took like 5 seconds to activate it and it was perfected just like Naruto’s. Since feats > statements then that means Minato was being humble. In my opinion though, I think he said he wasn’t that good since he couldn’t hold it for a long period of time because Minato doesn’t have crazy chakra reserves like Naruto or Ma&Pa helping him out like Jiraiya.

@@3rday600 Chakra reserves aren’t the only factor in a fight. Naruto had higher chakra reserves than most characters he fought against. Yet he was stilll at a disadvantage. Neji, Sasuke, Obito, Kakashi, so on and so forth. Base Minato was able to blitz the Raikage, a Sage Minato could easily do it. The Raikage was only able to match a base Minato in speed after like 18-20 years had passed, and for 16 of those years Minato had been dead. Not to mention that Minato at that age would’ve been able to cut through his lightning armor and more than likely would still be able to. Let me look for clips to see how long Minato can hold his Sage mode before I fully commit to the debate.

@@3rday600 Once some has been marked by Minato it’s pretty much a wrap. He can teleport to you at any time and from any distance. Realistically speaking all he has to do is mark each of the 5 kage, teleport away, then take his time killing them one by one. Also the Raikage cannot dodge everything. Minato is a tactical genius, breaking down and exploiting Obito’s ability after only seeing it a few times within like a 1 minute time frame. Being able to find flaws within the attack patterns of the Kage is something that he should easily be able to do. Besides, the only time we see him use Sage mode is against Juubi Madara, saying it’d be ineffective against the kage because he didn’t last against a MUCH more powerful Madara is wrong.

25:06 that's not really a feat for Minato. That was literally Madara's entire strategy. He chops Minato's arm that was holding the Rasengan and he kicked that Rasengan into Kakashi's chest and he kicked Minato into Gaara.

@@momotheone9700 He literally chopped his arm off prior. This is not a feat. It was literally his strategy to chop his arm off and throw his Rasengan into Kakashi and kick the rest of Minato into Gaara.

I can't remember where it's said, but I have this idea in my head that it's stated that once Naruto and the Nine Tails are cooperating that it becomes much easier for him to enter Sage mode. If I'm remembering right and not making this up it had something to do with the special properties of the Nine Tails Chakra once he started getting into the Nine Tails Chakra modes. I would also say the argument could probably be made that the Nine Tails could be collecting the nature Chakra for Naruto, much like how Ma and Pa tried to. I think one of these two things is all but confirmed in the newer boruto material when we see Naruto having to meditate to enter Sage mode, and leaving clones behind again like he did against Pain, neither of which he had to do in the war when first using Sage mode with Nine Tails Chakra mode. All of that is just my long winded explanation for Minato's statement in the war. He very well could've been much worse at using Sage mode, or at least it could've taken him way to long to gather the Chakra while he was alive before, but now that he also has half the Nine Tails inside of him it might be much easier for him. Sorry if I'm just actually crazy and making all this up, and also if I misused any terminology, I'm just a casual fan.

Fun fact: everyone of the 4 Kages can beat Tsunade. Here's how: -Raikage: outspeeds her and punches her like piu-piu-piu, done, Tsunade is dead. -Gaara: grabs her with his sand. *sabakyou*, done, Tsunade is dead. -Mei: spits lava on her, then uses water to harden it, Tsunade is stuck in the hardened lava, Mei goes there, cuts her head off. Done, Tsunade is dead. -Oonoki: literally flies. Enough said. I don't get this Tsunade wank all the time. She is a slow tank. It doesn't matter how hard she hits if she never can touch anyone. Saying Tsunade beats any of the Kage, because they're one hit is like saying Itachi beats everyone, because everyone is one hit with the Totsuka Blade. If people see that this is bullshit in Itachi's case, then why you don't see this in Tsunade's case? Some facts about Tsunade: Tsunade is a healer character, who is extremely important in a team fight. She keeps everyone alive in her team and can survive many attacks. But she is not designed for 1v1s. Everyone who has some stun or paralyse technique will beat her, because she's slow and everything can hit her. She isn't like adult Sakura, who is incredibly fast on top of all this. So Tsunade doesn't have any chance against any Kage, she's definitely the weakest there but the most important at the same time if we talking about team fighting. Sorry, Tsunade simps, I know 106 is hot but that doesn't make her winning 1v1s. Peace! ✌️

When you look at it, it takes him several pages to gather the nature energy, and it only lasts for one normal rasengan, not even an odama rasengan or anything

Id say that minato has a tough one here because mei could just lava the kunai the raikage could keep up possibly being faster due to the lightweighted boulder jutsu but the ohnoki, mei, gaara and tsunade are too slow tbh its okly the raikage that could get them a certain dub

Sage Mode isn’t even relevant here. Minato was only able to maintain Sage Mode long enough to use a single Rasengan. And Before Minato activated SM he was off screen standing in the same spot for like a whole chapter. So you could easily say that he was gathering nature energy off screen the entire time he was standing there ( which would be consistent with Minato himself saying later on that it takes him too long to enter SM). People always say that he “ Blinked and became a Sage” but ignore the fact that he was standing still off screen for an extended period of time beforehand ( standing still is a requirement for gathering nature energy). The man is literally telling us that he sucks at using Senjutsu and y’all still make excuses for him.

The Third Raikage tanked a rasenshuriken and there is no way the Fourth is so much weaker that he would not be able to tank a rasengan which is base Minato's strongest attack. Ay isn't even the strongest kage, so I do not think base Minato could win this fight. Kurama mode Minato obviously wins. Note: I never realised the Obito arm thing. Thanks for the interesting fact.

I think Jonin minato would wreck Jonin 4th raikage BUT minato at the time of his death vs the 4th raikage in current time timeline is a bit of a different question. I think Minato would have trouble damaging him, but who knows. I don’t think he could touch minato

Individually I think we can all agree minato wins 1v1 the 5 kage with only raikage and tsunade standing a chance. 1v5 is a lil different as there r things to take into consideration. 1st, mei and gaara have excellent area control, which is what minato will need to beat 5 of them. Mei can launch supportive aoe jutsu along with gaara. This does matter asinato will try to set up his kunai with seals over the area. All they have to do is trap minato for a sec and either the raikage, 100 healing tsunade, or ohnoki with his particle style can take him out. Second, minato only "speed" blitzes jonin lvl characters, while he may very well be faster than them individually, they all r stronger than the average jonin, as they were able to fight off the same madara that manhandled the shinobi alliance. ( Ik madara flexes and they get washed but that's besides the point)

When people bring up the fight against Obito during nine tails attack, they forget to mention that Minato was trying to prevent nine tails from escaping when Kushina was giving birth which means he was already exhausted even before Obito initiated the attack but I don’t know why nobody brings this up

@@Rck-vert it is in the manga, minato was holding down the ninetails while kushina was giving birth, only time obito drop his guard was when he materializes to catch minato before minato teleported and hit him with rasengan, that's the only time. Minato teleported from obito twice, so when obito thought he was gonna get minato, and realize minato directly threw the kunai straight through his head so that he couldn't see the marking on the kunai, obito got cocky when he thought he was gonna catch minato.

You can just chalk that down to Itachi either being sick, faking it, or using it as an opportunity to make it seem like he needed to use susanoo. Because a physically weaker Itachi was able to keep up against kcm naruto, kcm naruto who obviously scales to Ay, ay being significantly faster than lightning, his top speed even going up to light speed. Plus, I'm pretty sure Kirin is faster than lightning.
