I call it a beast.

I need one of these. No more cutting plate and angle with a grinder

This one is a Beast of a saw. The "new" Diablo blades go right on a regular circ saw and cut like butter. BUT...... Hot blue chips go everywhere, including your face with a left blade saw. They sting a little and stick you your clothes and skin. Face shield, hat, and long sleeves recommended. That's why the cuts are cold, the heat is carried away in those chips. This one catches them amazingly well. I have the M18 5 3/8 metal saw that I think you did a review on, and I love it, it doesn't have chip collection, though there is a guard that keeps the chips out of your face. They are loud. The thinner the metal, the louder they are. But they are amazing. If you work with metal in the field, you gotta try one to fully understand how good they are. They are multi-win tools. Extremely clean cuts, WIN. Cold cuts, you can grab the fresh cut edge immediately, WIN. You can use a guide or straight edge for laser straight cuts, WIN. No cord, HUGE WIN. And they cut FAST, HUGE WIN. Even without a straight edge, they hold a line easily, WIN. Being able to cut through 1/4 plate like plywood is a game changer for me. You can even do plunge cuts, but you gotta be REALLY careful, and it is hard on the blades. Blades are a little pricey, but they are getting cheaper. Time savings far surpass blade costs even if they were much more expensive. A lot of my work is done in environments where showers of sparks from a cutoff wheel are a really bad idea. I used to have to drill an access hole, and use a jigsaw or sawzall. Not anymore. These are straight cut only, no bevel adjustment, which would probably be a nightmare in a handheld saw anyway. All your points were spot on. Keep up the great work, Brian.

We found the Diablo blades suck. They dull very quickly. We tried running on 14 inch cut off saw and we found the original Ridgid blade to be miles better.

That's pretty incredible, and the cut looks really clean.

If you're making straight cuts these saws are second to none when it comes to speed and cleanliness of cut. I've used the 8" corded milwaukee for 15 years. Bought the fuel 5⅜" model when it came out, but while it cuts anything I've run into, I keep tearing up the gears inside. When they released this cordless 8" I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. So far im impressed and its definitely as beastly as the corded 8". The brake is a nice safety feature as anyone who has run the corded model knows it takes awhile for it to wind down. Price is spendy but no one else wants to compete in this market and for me it pays for itself in speed and virtually no clean up after the cut. I'm kind of surprised dewalt hasn't made a flexvolt equivalent saw as their only cordless metal saw is a outdated brushed 5⅜" model. When it comes to blades we switched to using evolution blades years ago. Not only were they cheaper blades they last a lot longer.

I've been using my corded version of this saw for about a year now. I use it to rip 14ga. and 1/8" carbon steel plate for different fabrication projects. I works great with a clamped on straight edge and I get perfect cuts every time. BUT, when it gets dull and it doesn't take long it just stops cutting. Not like a wood blade that slows down when it gets dull, this just stops cutting. I've tried cutting slowly and letting the saw do the work, being very careful to set the blade depth to prevent binding. Nothing seems to help. Fortunately I have a sharpening shop near by who does a great job on these expensive blades but he's no bargain either. I alternate between two blades to always have a sharp one on hand. Does anyone else have a problem like this?

I’ve have the M12 version and even that thing is a beast! I’ve cut 3/16” plate with no issues. Just get a Diablo blade when the Milwaukee one wears out.

I have Milwaukee's M18 Fuel 5 3/8 metal cutting saw, and absolutely love it. I might have to pickup this bad boy as well, I had to cut some 1 1/8 road plate the other day with my gas powered Stihl demo saw, and it took forever, I wonder if I went slow and took my time if this saw would cut that thick of steel in less time. Great video as always Brian, definitely something to look into

Milwaulkee also makes a finer tooth blade for cutting things like the barn tin.The fine tooth blade would reduce the "chatter"Have saw--a really fine piece of machinery!

Impressive. Does it run on a track similar to the metabo cold cut saw? At half inch is its limit it slows down a bit. You used 5 amp hour. How many bars of battery did you use up?

Looks to be pretty much identical to the Corded version Milwaukee has had out for a long time, the Corded version is the fastest cleanest way to cut metal I have used to date

Yes, they claim this to be the 15A equivalent.

I got three. Returned three. First one the base was broken at the weld when I received it, appears a repair was attempted before being shipped to me. Second one, same thing. Apparently the spot welds were so so and factory had somebody try to add a few tacks to support the spot welds. No penetration with the weld. Third one, base wasn’t squared with the blade. Fourth one,,,got the FEIN Slugger and all is well

I have several good dry cut saws, so I don't really need this right now, but I can't help wanting it all the same...

I need to replace my blade... What would be a better blade? The Milwaukee Model #48-40-4515 or the Diablo Model #D0842CF?

Do you think I could cut oil tanks with this?

Does this cut better than a grinder? Looks like it cuts faster than a nibbler.

I remember when defunct channel ChuckE2009 had this tool, but AC back in 2013. Milwaukee circular saws could slice one inch plate.

8inch would be great. Hard getting the cutting blades sometimes

Does your corded version eat blades the way mine does? I might be able to cut 25 feet of 1/8" mild steel plate and it's dull and stops cutting. I am, as far as I can tell using the correct blade (tooth count wise) and very careful to set the depth of the cut.

The chip collection system is impressive. I have a cold-cut chop saw and despite having a chip bin, chips still go everywhere. The weakness I see with this saw is the blade. I can't find a replacement blade anywhere. The Milwaukee site makes no mention of replacement blades. The owner's manual doesn't list a part number for a spare blade and the parts list doesn't even list a blade. Oddly it seems all of the places that sell it, while they list a lot of accessories, none of them lists a spare blade. Carbide blades are easily damaged. If spare blades aren't readily available this saw could be rendered useless with one miss cut.

Nice! If Milwaukee doesn't offer this design in a traditional chop saw configuration... they should! That said, what is apprx life expectancy and cost of replacement blades(?)

I guess my one concern with these types of saw is the poor line of sight for shorter cuts. It's seems like you really have to know the saw well and sort of guess where your cut will be since there's a huge chip catcher covering the blade.

It is a blade right saw, and I prefer blade left... So I can see the same with this saw as a right hander can see with a blade right wood saw.

You know why they don't use magnesium bases on metal saws, because magnesium is actually flammable and if it does actuallys catch fire do not attempt to put it out because the flame is so hot water will do nothing but could cause a explosion, they say just let it burn till there's nothing left, if it might burn down your house find a way to move it outside

Only thing I wish Milwaukee did was make a left facing blade version 😒 but its a beast I would pick it up anyways even though its a right facing blade

How many watts can this handle... blade size and rpm tells me this is what I consider m18 HO light duty... just like many m18 HO tools. When u consider what the competition has... it's because this m18 tool is 18v. All they do is heat up and cut out... not worth the investment needed .

Milwaukee here's my $$$... gotta have it. Is it deep enough to cut 1 5/8 unistrut? This is why Ridgid made me add a second battery platform... thx for the review!

yes, 2-9/16" cut capacity. Went over that in the beginning.

Can the saw handle cutting 8’ long rip. I have the evolution the smaller one corded and I’ve fried two motors. I’m not a ram rod im nice to my Equipement well try to be. Thanks for the video. I’m a Milwaukee guy all the way.

Now if you throw a Diablo carbide tipped blade on there you would have an unstoppable tank!

I want a review after a four months of use thanks.

I've been using this saw for a couple days and I find it challenging to line up the blade on my marked line of the piece I'm cutting. I'm using it to cut ribbed steel roofing panels. I'm used to being able to see the actual blade while cutting to line up the cut line with the blade but this saw hides the blade completely from the topside. You are forced to use the saws guideline on the saw. For me it makes it difficult to line up the cut precisely, especially when starting out a cut. I have to do multiple test cut to establish where my blade is actually cutting and cutting the steel at an angle (not right angle) for the roof pitch needs to be pretty precise.

What type of blade are you using? I've tried about 5 different ones and I lose teeth on the first cut. I cut corrugated 18 gauge metal decking

@@elgayetas I am still using the blade that it came with, I don’t have a saw right now because I lent it to someone otherwise I would go check for you. It sounds like you’re cutting pretty heavy gauge material, mine was only 27 gauge. I ended up having to use a guide board every time I cut in order to make a nice clean cut. Wish I could be more helpful.

Can it cut wood removing the metal.cover and disc?

A young welder named Shane here once used a modern Milwaukee circular saw to cut all kinds of heavy metal, even pipe. Too bad that boy's channel is dead.

No one Important not made for ripping lvl stock. You want a worm drive or the flexvolt rear handle is the most powerful saw for that

I just used my m12 Jigsaw at 1 am to cut some 14 gauge metal pipes, it only took me 2 hours and 3 batteries(1 had to recharge) to make 4 cuts. true story, why the hell do you think I'm looking up metal-cutting saws. 😭

Anybody try running this on 5ah? Yay or naye? Milwaukee ain’t my main squeeze and it seems like I need to buy a different battery for each Milwaukee tool I own. 😂

they bundle it with an HO (High Output) battery, so the regular XC 5Ah will hold the tool back on thick cuts. could be ok on decking. you do get the super charger with the kit...

I would like to see if it can cut a single treaded rod clean and leave it "nut" ready. Also gang cut a bundle of treaded rod and leave all "nut" ready.

Do I NEED one? Absolutely not, I have grinders, recipes saws, and cut off tools. Do I really really want one? Yes.

I would buy it if they made it a left blade instead

It does not matter with the chip collection. You can see better from the other side of the blade. Lefty's would hate this IMHO.

Great saw, great tool but i still got 1 problem with it. This should have been made as a 9" saw to achieve that 3 1/4" depth of cut. An 8" metal saw has same depth as a wood cutting saw that is 7 1/4". So you can throw a metal blade on a regular saw which many ppl already have although i know not nearly as efficent as this. Going to a full 3" depth of cut unlocks SO MANY more things you can cut. I have a 9" corded mk morse metal cutting saw is the only corded tool left that i still use a cord for although i do have a 5 1/2" metal cutting circ saw. Im a dewalt guy myself and if this saw was a 9" i would probably buy this as my only m18 tool i got. I need this bad but in 9" lol. 98% of my cutting is metal

I like these kind of saws. You saw my experience with the saw from start to finish with nothing left out. I have changed up my reviews to reflect this so we are not showing "chosen" B-Roll over us talking about it. This lets you see exactly what I do. I pushed the saw to overload any times, explained the feeling. I always do my best to do an honest review. Some tools excite me to test more than others.

I love milwaukee tools, I HATE the batteries, It seems like sooner or later, no matter what the usage, around 6 months later, i go to charge a MI18 and get the dreaded red-green blinking code of death on the charger, Milwaukee says "oh just bring your receipt and exchange it" ummm, no, im on a job and need the batteries to work, and who keeps 6 month old receipts lying around? Why is the onus on me? at 70 bucks a throw, they should be far more robust than they are

Are you bringing them inside after a day's work? I've used m18 batteries for about 4 years and they are all still charging. I have 5 HD12s and 4 HD 6's

@@elgayetas i had four 3's (?- ithink they were 3's, whatever they were they werent the 5.0's) and one 5, now the 5 is the only one left and i went to get another one today and they were 168 bucks! its cheaper for me to wait for a tool bundle kit sale that comes with a battery or two, than it is to just buy the battery! and no they usually stay in the car, or in the garage, a buddy of mine said its cause they home cheapo milwaukee batteries, that theyre made cheaper or something, i dont know

This wins the dumbest post of the year award. Metal cutting saws are supposed to be less RPMs.

It's complete crap when it comes to cutting metal decking, you will lose teeth on the first cut. Tried all types of blades. Also the blade being on the right is absolute shiet. I would returned it but lost the receipt
