Milwaukee Hardline 2.5" Knife Review

Ғылым және технология

Home Depot: homedepot.sjv.io/VvPvA
Milwaukee's new Hardline knives live up to their name, with tough D2 steel blades. The knife in the video is model 48-22-1997.
Thanks to Home Depot and Milwaukee for providing a review sample in exchange for honest feedback.

You can get a small set of torx bits at just about any hardware store.

They turned out to be T6 bits, and the smallest torx key I had at the time was a T10. I ended up getting the S2 steel version of this set: amzn.to/2CxrCnh

Looks like they sent you a pre-checked version or something because mine was neither sharp enough to shave with nor easily opened with one hand. Same exact model. Sturdy enough but I'm disappointed that 'factory sharpness' was lacking on mine. The edge is so blunt I can run it on my skin with a decent amount of applied pressure and it won't even leave a mark.

Their tooling for grinding the blades sharp is probably just worn and needs to be replaced. It does suck though - I'd expect it to come with a sharp edge too! The pivot should loosen up over time, or you can probably adjust the torx screw for a looser fit.

@@DoresoomReviews Yeah it was around 35 dollars so not Spyderco steep but not dirt cheap either. Still decent for cardboard and plastic but not great for rope. Bang for buck still goes to Benchmade.

I love Benchmade knives! The axis locking mechanism is the best I've used.

I bought a beat up one from ebay for 20 dollars. Took it apart, rust everywhere, but i cleaned it up with soem wd40 and rubbing alcohol. It works like new now, but for the price of 50 dollars? Not so sure. It feels heavy duty but the closing mechanism is a bummer, and if you don't have the clip, really hard to tell, which side is blade open. But it does cut cardboard easy.

I carry a Benchmade Mini Bugout with me everwhere now. A much more expensive knife, but the S30V steel is more corrosion resistant than D2, and the Axis lock is much easier to operate than the frame lock on this Milwaukee.

Milwaukee sent me a review sample through the Home Depot Seeds program. It should be available for purchase at Home Depot's website.

The symbole on that backside has nothing to do with your eyes... it tells you that you can adjust the lock.

Are you talking about the symbol I point out at 2:50? The little guy's face with safety glasses on? No, I'm absolutely right on this one. They also include the symbol on their circular saw blades right next to a disclaimer stating that eye protection needs to be worn: www.milwaukeetool.com/accessories/cutting/48-40-4105

That’s pretty exspensibe but I guess the D2 steel is long lasting. And the clip on it is a lot better then the other Milwaukee knifes. The other ones don’t tend to hold after awhile

It's true that D2 steel is more of a semi-stainless steel at 12% chromium content. However, if you don't treat it like crap, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. I've had mine for two months, no sign of rust.
