Do you use a metal detector on those used logs? Could save on blades.

I sure do. Check out a few videos back. You can also see the metal detector in action again in a couple of weeks.

First, let me say red oak is not ideal but it was all I had on the property. I had planned three things: burn them, treat them with 50/50 diesel and used motor oil, and then coat them with roofing tar. Doing these three things provides good protection. However, I scored on several utility poles and have milled them. They are already treated! So I’ll be using them for my saw mill shed.

Do you only have the one video from about 3 years ago describing your sawmill trailer build? I have some channel iron I’m planning on building a trailer for my HM122. I’m curious on how you mounted the feet to the trailer rails. Welded or bolted? I was trying to decide between using the feet or bolting the rails directly to the trailer.

Thanks for questions. That is the only videos I have on the trailer build. I was just starting the channel to record our progress on the homestead and it was for immediate family. Since then, several asked to view the channel and I open it to the public. I welded the feet to the trailer. This allowed me to make minor adjustments and keep the rails level. I highly recommend this versus bolting directly to the rails. Best of luck on your build. You may also want to add a log turner to your build. You can see mine in a few videos back.
