Peter is so relatable in this game, the world keeps beating on him and he ALWAYS keeps pushing through because people need him. But the symbiote makes him feel like he can finally catch a break and feel good, but it only consumes him, like a bad addiction. I honestly felt like insomniac was trying to give us a deeper message, its to absolutely never give up on anyone but most importantly never give up on yourself.

A common complaint I've been seeing about the game's portrayal of Peter was that him needing to be saved cheapens him and makes him look weak, but I can't agree. The whole point was that Peter was standing all alone for so long and it took its toll on him, the game goes out of its way several times to drive that point home.

People who struggles with addiction would probably relate to this fight more. Peter wants to leave his addiction yet he can't, but with miles acceptance and support he finally did it. It's so touching to see miles never berrates peter or blame him, he just accepts it and let peter anger and frustation all out. Miles is essentially giving peter a shoulder to cry on, no matter how much it hurts. This is why miles is worthy of the title of spider man, he's got a genuinely good heart.

2:35 to 3:00 is so heart breaking. You can literally hear the anguish in Peter’s voice. He almost sounds like a hurt traumatized kid as he screams “BUT I’M NOT ANYMORE” it’s heartbreaking to see the voice shift to venom as well

Literally, he is the male version of Cherami Leigh. Cherami went from this softly spoken character like Makoto to female V, who is widly viewed now to be in the same realms as Doug Cockle (Geralt) in terms of voice notoriety. Yuri is in a similar sphere. He voiced Ben in Ben 10 to Peter Parker. The range on these actors/actresses is just phenomonal.

I love that every fight with the Symbiotes become so emotional and real, it’s not quips and jokes, it’s two people genuinely connecting and it’s beautiful

When Peter said "I can't!" in sheer anguish and agony after Miles told him he had to save himself, I honestly really felt that. Peter went through a lot in his life and at that moment all the man needed was a shoulder to cry on or a hug yet the symbiote was poisoning him and corrupting the control out of him, and he had no way to fight it. It was like he said later on, he almost lost himself and he was clearly terrified of it happening in front of Miles, the one guy that had his back 100% of the way and the one who was filled with the hope he needed to finally break free and gain control of his life again. Peter believing himself was restored all because of Miles' courageous heart and perseverance in not giving up.

Keep in mind this Peter Parker is 25 years old. That's 10 years of being Spidey, ten years of having to assume responsibility for the death of his Uncle and being Spidey. Ten years of crime fighting and balancing his social life. Ten years of MJ and May possibly worrying about him when ever there's a threat. And then two years of almost losing the city to a virus that ended up killing his Aunt and be betrayed by two people that he cared about and learning that his friend wasn't in Europe but fighting for his lif medically. That's so much for one guy and I love how the suit just says "let it all go and be selfish for once"

Miles embodies what it truly means to be Spider-Man. Peter may be the original Superman and he’s a great one at that, but Miles is becoming one of the great Spider-Man so far in how he’s being portrayed he deserves the title.

This is exactly why I disagree with people who think Miles and Peter should have separate stories apart from one another. In this game you can see how much of a strong bond they have and how much they make one another better. Having two different Spider-Men with their own stories to tell interwoven with one another has so much story potential, and I’m glad Insomniac sees that.

It's only when he accepts and tells Li the truth he realises it's no one else holding him back, it's himself and when Li realises he's become the man he swore to kill(Norman Osborn) he gives Miles the chance to kill him yet he says no. Perfectly placed imo. Given the fact Peter was at his lowest point when they next met.

Around 2:43 is really powerful delivery. Not only do we hear peter's rage and aggression but it was nice touch to have venom speak through peter to show how far the symboite has corrupted him at this point.

Fighting the guy (Peter) that you’ve been controlling these past 2 games feels so refreshing. I like how you can do the moves you normally do on NPCs like, swing kicking, venom dash, web yank, etc , plus the new moves on Peter. By far my most favourite boss battle. Definitely a step up from just dodging and spamming square in the first game

@@jc_hills1540 that's why I time it with ricochet. You know how ricochet staggers him for a bit? It's like a 5 seconds stagger window if you're hitting him with a fully upgraded ricochet. Then do the move while the ricochet is still firing.

I actually predicted this when I finished the first Spiderman game. But this really exceeded my expectations. One thing I noticed is that you can tell Pete is still hurting from May. When he says her name, it sounds painful.

The thing I like the most about this boss fight is that it isn't meant to a difficult boss that takes you multiple tries to beat. It's meant to be emotional because without this suit he feels useless that without he's nothing. But with this symbiote Peter feels powerful and thinks he can finally protect everyone he loves. But the symbiote was taking over his mind and he started doing more harm then good. The voice acting in this almost brought me to tears tbh

I can’t express how f*cling happy the way this fight turned out. Peter having lost so much in the first game but still pulling through and putting the safety of everyone before himself then comes the suit to ease his pain away to avoid feeling powerless. The symbiote is a perfect metaphor for addiction since Peter makes it seem like he can’t live without it and it’s so human and relatable… if anything, this fight is just someone telling their friend to get their sh*t together and not give in and man, this game had the balls to pull off a bigger risk with the character of Peter Parker since Spider-Man 3 and the Spectacular Spider-Man. 👌

When Peter started talking in Venom’s voice, absolute chills…

I felt a lot of emotions of the line of " I was just trying to save everyone, MJ, May, the city thinks I'm the problem, You think I'm the problem?! I'm the solution!" Because I deal with this too when it comes to trying to be there and save everyone. Feeling like you aren't there when they need you and you won't dare to comfort them is one of the worst things ever. He feels so alone and abandoned He feels so alone and abandoned That he uses the symbiote to just protect people and feel good about himself and feel like the hero but the symbiote is consuming him and making him more depressed and angry and sad. I can tell that he was trying to hold back his tears and just was mentally and emotionally breaking down of anger, sadness, regret, guilt and shame, and with the symbiote it doesn't help at all. And I love how miles is here to help him. He isn't trying to steal the spotlight and try to become a better hero than he is And at the end I wouldn't say that miles won This wasn't a fight to see who can defeat the other this was a fight between a Peter who needs to get the symbiote off him and he even stopped ringing the bell knowing that Peter is more stronger than he thanks and he was able to remove off the symbiote, Showing that he's not alone and He doesn't need symbiote to make him feel like hes strong and hes a hero and feel confident and maybe even self-centered at moments. It's about being here and doing the right thing and being good. Spider-Man it's just a superhero title. But the person behind the mask is really the person with the emotions and the person has feelings too. And for Peter that's no exception. And miles says it best he thought that the suit and the powers would save everyone but it doesn't work like that at all. Myles wants Peter to know that a hero isn't invincible when it comes to emotions that they're here to talk and to just be there. To not feel like you're just a big screw up. To actually feel human instead of a superhero. And I really do like the symbiote to represent a drug That Peter is using to make him feel good to make him feel good to make him feel good to make him feel stronger but when that drug Changes his mind and emotions and changes the way he acts and thinks and feels he becomes more Violent and more attached to the suit since he like he said he can be everyone's favorites and best Spider-Man so you can protect everyone at the cost of himself and his relationship with others. And I want you to know if you're reading this that if you're going through something like Peter there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You got this you can break through This addiction of things like drugs or alcohol and know that you're way more nicer and more kinder than you think. This is a great game if not one of the best games of this year and I believe in all of you. I want you to know that you're not alone and that YOU'RE A WORK OF ART 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩!!!!!!!

What I really love about this fight is the fact, that it is still mostly Peter who is talking. Venom just strengthens his emotions, his pain and anger. That is what makes this fight hit hard on an emotional level.

Which is wierd to me cause I've played games like sekiro where parrying is so essential and it was rarely a problem. In this game parrying just feels wrong to do in my brain, I automatically want to dodge any attack no matter what. Maybe cause the first 2 games or maybe cause dodging just seems like the more Spidey thing idk.

I love how not only both of their themes play throughout the fight, but they've been altered to fit this fight perfectly. 10/10 boss fight

I'm so proud of this kid, man. Taking down an enhanced Peter Parker by himself is insane. The city couldn't be in better hands.

What makes this fight so great is what peter says at the beginning of the game "well stress sometimes sounds like anger" this whole game peter has been put through the ringer, lost a job, loosing his best friend and a powerful villian coming along to just add insult to injury. Meanwhile miles is so concerned in the past by him hard focusing on li. But by miles facing li and miles personal demons he is able to overcome and move forward. With miles being in that state makes him the perfect person to bring peter back. Miles knows peter is stressed, see the effect these past few days/weeks/years has been affecting him. Then adding the symbiote turns a stressed out peter into an angry and overall selfish peter. Miles sees what he went through with li in peter and how he deals with kraven. Showing how far miles has come by bringing his mentor back from the brink and becoming his own hero/man. The soundtrack, the themes and the voice acting conveys so much to the viewer! This is just a fantastic game!

This fight had me in tears man!!!! 😭😭😭The way it was just presented and the music that fit this whole thing. Miles wasn't just fighting Peter, he was fighting the demon inside of him. This has to be my favorite part of the game hands down. The student fighting the master to realize his wrong doings. I don't think any other game is gonna achieve this much greatness than this one boss fight.

Really love Peter’s dialogue. Even if it’s just the Symbiote warping his mind, there’s some merit to what he says. “All I wanted was to save everyone!” “Now this city thinks I’M the problem.” Can’t help but feel this one runs in the back of Peter’s head even without the Symbiote. My only wish was that Yuri or Li were able to be written in a way that they helped Miles in this fight because A) Miles beating a Symbiote spider-man alone feels absurd B) It would feel like they’re repaying Peter. He saved them and now they get to save him. EDIT: Figured I’d say that personally if it was up to me, the Peter boss fight should’ve gone a lot more like Nightwing vs Batman in Batman Bad Blood. Miles gets folded in the physical confrontation, but his words are what bring Peter back. While the gameplay has Miles winning, cutscenes clearly indicate he’s getting stomped.

Well, Miles was the only one to really defeat Peter and get him to really come to his senses. With effects that Mister Negative's powers had on Miles, he actually became stronger that Peter. Even Li said that the symbiote was in fear of his power

He already (presumably) got beaten by Kraven and yet he’s capable of beating a Symbiote Spider-Man right after?

I was so proud of Miles in this fight. Miles bossed up and held his own. I love that they call each other Spider-Man in the game. Its clearly a respect thing.

Lots of people mentioning peter's va but i also love how throughout the fight miles sounds desperate, struggling and emotional, those exchanges of dialogue were amazing

That's our boy!!!! Miles Morales came a long way, leave it to him to break Peter free of the Symbiote. Had a feeling it would play out this way but that doesn't take anything away from this fight at all. Epic!!!

Oh shit, I didn't notice that! This fight is literally Spider-Man at his breaking point, and the only person around to pull him back from the edge is his plucky mentee who'd already gone through the struggle of overcoming his feelings of grief & powerlessness

I think that people seeing this fight purely as some power scale battle between Peter/Miles are missing the point. There’s no need to justify Peter losing to miles when the fact Miles actually prevailed shows how strong of a mentor Peter is. Miles encapsulates all of Petes BEST values, bestowed upon him by Pete. Miles defeating peter is TESTAMENT to the ladders teaching prowess. There’s no need to look at it purely from a comparison of physical strength, when Pete “losing” still shines light on his character

You cherry picked the one one section in the game where peter is found helping miles and not the other way around and even then the sections of miles being out of his league aren't even shown.

This fight was both incredible and heartbreaking!!! But I’m proud of Miles, he never gave up on Peter ONCE! EXACTLY how Spider-Man is: He NEVER gives up, even when the odds are against him

Look at the later scene where Peter lands on the Oscorp tower’s roof, right before the birth of Venom. He pauses and gives a look at the destroyed antenna from the first game’s final battle. The battle against Otto. He fully realizes that he almost suffered his mentor’s fate.

I REALLY wanted this to be in the Game mainly because of how I feel it could show how Miles contrasts with the Symbiote, and by Jove it delivers. The dialogue and the action is exactly what I was hoping for this kind of boss fight.

I absolutely loved the MHA reference at 4:30 I had the biggest grin on my face when I caught that. Such a good fight.

"I NEED this suit! It makes me a better Spider-Man! You just want it for yourself!" Bruh thats some straight up addict shit. This games writing is peak, no idea how they topped the first one.

I was so happy that this was a boss fight. I thought another cool boss fight they could've added would be like in the Spectacular Spider-Man, when Peter as Spider-Man fought a symbiote version of himself. That would have been amazing.

My favourite thing about this is how none of this darkness originates from the symbiote. All of it is Peter’s frustrations and anxieties twisted and warped through a horrific lens to produce the worst result possible.

Had a feeling this was gonna be a boss fight, Im a peter parker fan more but damn miles has proven his worth to me as spiderman these past couple years.

This is a far more impactful and emotional way for Peter to overcome the Symbiote than what we've seen in most other media. This ties with Spectacular Spider-Man. The fact that it's Miles who brings Peter around, especially since Miles JUST faced Mister Negative, is so fitting.

The emotional weight of this fight was beautiful “I just wanted to save the city, May, MJ, EVERYONE! And now they think IM the problem” you can literally hear the pain in peters voice. Impeccable voice acting from Yuri and Miles character really shined as the best friend Peter could ever ask for in this situation. It’s so good. Keep it up insomniac.

Miles has much more utility and whilst the anti venom has the healing factor, i still got my boy over Peter but it's very close and honestly interchangeable

No one commented on this, but the song that plays is called “Sacrifice”, it first played after Peter was stabbed and killed by Kraven. The Symbiote saves Peter, but in turn turned him into a monster. Now playing a second time after Peter removes the Symbiote and he returns… this is his proper return as he defeats the monster. In a way, Peter was more of a walking zombie and still truly dead UNTIL he got the monster off him. The symbiote saved Peter but turned him into a villain, while the real Peter died but returned as a hero

The music throughout this entire boss fight was phenomenal. I think it might be my favourite tune in the soundtrack, this and Midtown Madness, that’s the music that plays throughout the first fight with Venom with Peter at Midtown High.

Peter: I'm finally everything everyone needs me to be!!!! Miles: Yeah? You don't even answer my calls anymore, man! I have a best friend that works full time, takes care of a house by himself with a wife and a child (another one is on the way). He works at an energy plant for 12 plus hours. He calls me everyday single day, just to talk or make jokes. I asked him why did he like calling me so much and he basically said that he just didn't want to feel alone or overwhelmed. He taught me that sometimes, its not about being a hero, or trying to say the right things. Sometimes, its just *being there* that matters. Being a shoulder to cry on or a brother to stand with. When I got to this point, I actually cried for Miles because *I GET IT.* Being a hero means more than fighting darkness alone. Its about fighting darkness together.

My favourite part of this whole sequence is the bell. Before this, when fighting Kraven, he uses the bell constantly to stun you, and it’s so goddamn annoying. But in this fight, you remember the bell still exists, and remember that Peter is weak to it, and so, you try the bell. And it works. Intuitive game design 10/10.

"You're in the way Miles!" - "If you're not with me then you are my enemy." "I could have fixed everything! I'm the hero. I don't get saved." - "I've brought peace, freedom justice and security to my new empire!" "Trying to mentor me!" - "Don't lecture me Obi-Wan." "You're not better than me!" - "I hate you!" "I need this suit. It makes me a better Spider-Man. You just want it for yourself!" - "I see through the lies of the Jedi." "Why are you doing this?" - "I should have known the Jedi were plotting to take over!" "All I wanted was to save everyone. MJ, May, now the city thinks I'm the problem! (Symbiote: You think I'm the problem.) But I'm not anymore! (Symbiote:I am the solution.)" - "All I wanted was to save everyone. Padme, my mother, now you think I'm the problem! (Vader: You think I'm the problem.) I found a way to save them from the nightmares! (Vader:I am the solution!)"

2:46 top tier emotional voice acting right there. The venom voice is too fire

This fight ended exactly the way it should. Miles may have given him the push but it was Peter himself who tore off the symbiote.

“You think I am the problem? I am the solution!” Great line with tony todd!

"I stopped pulling my punches, I got ragefull.... I got bitter"

I absolutely LOVED this moment and the arc Peter went with the symbiote. I heard some fans thought it was rushed, but I disagree! We had some time with the suit showing it's pros and how it made Peter stronger, we had some times with it warping his mind and making him more aggressive, and then finally the suit nearly takes over with Peter forced to remove it. I know alot of people had a problem with Miles beating Symbiote Peter on his own....and this might be controversial, but...what if it's because Miles is simply stronger? Of course Peter has more experience and will always be the original, but Miles's powers just might out class Peter even with the symbiote. Heck Miles's venom stings already give him a much needed edge against the Symbiote. All in all, I thought everything was handled beautifully!

This is my favorite part in Spider-Man 2. You can just feel the emotion as both Peter and Miles fight each other. Not to mention, I love how Peter took the suit off, it was very traditional.

I knew this had to be coming. But I was so hyped when that health bar showed up. And my God, John Paesano’s music is so emotionally raw and makes the dialogue hit harder.

It’s kinda cool how to me that the only reason miles had such an advantage in this fight, Was cause Peter was also fighting against the symbiote, this entire fight hit different cause it was practically miles fighting to help peter get it off.

I can't be the only one who thought "I made you" is crazy, I know it's not Peter talking but still, I never expected those words to come out of his mouth, also hearing Pete's voice when he was talking about how he wanted to save everyone,but the city thinks that he's the problem,it also sounded like a bit of him was crying, Yuri is just a God at this, now isn't he? 😢

idk why people are confused by miles "beating" peter, peter was exhausted and practically mindless thanks to the symbiote while miles kept hitting the symbiote with its main weakness (sound) and a lesser weakness (electricity) throughout the entire fight that's like saying someone shouldn't beat superman after stabbing him with a kryptonite dagger and then blasting him with magic edit: for reference, I say beating with quotes because Miles didn't actually beat Peter, he just weakened the symbiote enough for Peter to be able to rip it off. Peter was not left out for the count after their fight concluded

Right the dude still have a glimpse of humanity left in here to hold back during the fight 2. Note he doesn’t wanna kill miles and he’s explaining himself throughout the fight including ur points of fatigue and weaknesses. Note I love Peter Parker he my fav spidey ofc but ppl thinking miles morales someone who is almost identically relatable I’d say more in this game close to spidey. I don’t see no chance how neither one of them can’t beat each other.

Miles is more powerful and had an advanatage at that time .....plus kryptonite makes superman a 10 year old victim don't even compare that to venom's weakness ......i always knew miles is powerful than Peter paker because he got the lightning abilities

"I'm the hero. I don't get saved." 02:23 Man, this line always makes me cry. It summarizes perfectly the amount of pain, loneliness and exhaustion Peter had to go through. And Yuri makes such a wonderful job in its delivery. It's fucking perfect.

This fight was my favorite one story wise, props to Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter for their amazing performances

I can't forget how emotional I got when learning I was fighting Peter the first time. It wasn't just fighting my favorite hero, but it was saving him at the same time.
