    As much as Tyson wanted to drive the nose bone of his opponents thru their skull, at the end he had a humane side to him. One of the most, if not THE most explosive boxer, of all time. Many thanks uploader, great stuff to relive his career which I followed much of as it happened.

    I'm Polish native I watched all his fights growing up. I think Mike Tyson is the most aggressive, explosive, exiting fighter to wach of our era.. I rather be kicked by a horse than meet with his upper cut or left hook. I love how he use his legs ,all that power .Hands down my favorite heavyweight fighter till this date. He's a Beast! Well deserved Sir. You are a Legend!

    His punches are so tight. I mean the force he must have been able to produce with such a powerfully smooth hook with a snap at the end, its unreal. And he had a basket full of position moves, that are near impossible to duplicate without that speed. followed up with an array of combos, of which my favorite was that body shot and uppercut with the same hand.. amazing how many times he was cashing in on that one.

    Firstly - many thanks for not putting crappy loud music on the video. Tyson in his prime was indeed a legend - humble - ordinary - yet sincere. I don't think he really realised how good he was. I put him on par with Muhammed Ali, Rocky Marciano, and Joe Louis. You can never really compare them - they all had entirely different individual styles - but champions at their sport none the less. Enjoyed the video immensely. Definite thumbs up.

    We don't think of Mike Tyson as a great technical boxer, because his physical dominance was so impressive. But to me, his fighting style was beautiful. It was direct and aggressive, but you can not deny that he looked like someone executing a fighting style to near perfection. The bobbing, weaving, compact punches, constantly tucked in chin, hands in front of the face, relentless offense. It was something special.

    It's a shame how Tyson's life got out of control like it did. In 85 when he was starting his rise to the top, he was literally the best boxer in the world. He was explosive, calculating, technical, well trained and disciplined. He got a feel for his opponent very quickly and adjusted his technique and threw his punches accordingly, making quick work of them. He undoubtedly had power in every punch and jab. He combined expertly placed combinations with lighting speed and had the footwork to keep him balanced and rock steady at the same time allowing him to land powerful blow after powerful blow. Early on, he showed great sportsmanship, always helping his opponent back to his feet, and went to a neutral corner as soon as someone went down or the ref stepped in. I think he lost it when things got too much for him after realizing how badly he was being taken advantage of and seems to have lost guidance from people he trusted and depended on. After seeing him go to work in the ring, it's amazing that anyone in their right mind was willing to get in the ring with him. They were either really brave, really stupid, or really overly confident in their ability to not only throw a punch, but to take one!

    Well said. When I think of Tysons career I can't help buy feel sad because he didn't live up to his potential and really prove his place amongst the all time greats even though he had the ability. He still had a great career but not on the level of the best of the best. If he had beaten Holyfield that would've gone a long way towards his legacy

    I remember Mike Tyson coming on the boxing scene, and it was intimidating. I know Mike has had his many problems, of which he has nobly owned up to; none of the less, that man was a beast, and perhaps he still is. I surely wouldn't want to provoke his inner beast. I think he is a sweetheart in depth, but something much else in the ring.

    Tyson with his head movement, uppercuts, left hooks and short right hands, body punching he was lethal, if he carried on fighting in the same way, he would've been unbeatable but somehow his fighting skills have changed later on. Against Douglas, the referee was taking his time to count when Douglas was knocked out, and saved by the bell, by then Tyson ran out of steam really.

    His original father figure Gus Dimado had his hands on Mike when he was a very young man. Gus saw more in the soul of that young man and his influence still rolls in Mike Tyson heart. Mike Tyson represents what Americans are made of. Iron, fire and compassion. Thanks Mike for the memories..

How can you not love and respect Mike Tyson, even with the hyper-aggression and unsportsmanlike behavior in the ring (although it is probably this very aggression which propelled him to the top of the mountain)? Also amazing to see how much Mike evolved as a human being post-boxing.

    OK, *this* is the fight I remember watching years ago when Tyson knocked out his opponent while he was in full guard position. It was Tyson Vs Benjamin and you can see it at 8:10 . Boxers typically guard themselves to rest and buy time. It is almost unheard of for a boxer to be literally knocked completely out while keeping his head under his arms for protection. This is a testament to Tysons power but also his incredible skill to get his devastating punches to land in between and around Benjamin's arms. Absolutely amazing.

    God Bless Tyson. Those last 3-4 fights, you can see that the desire was just gone from him at this point. At 38 years old he still competed at a very high level. At that age he was an old Lion that just was tired. He had his bumps in the game of life, and yet he still continues to fight and live. Don't hate him for his mistakes or how many times he fell down. Love him for how many times he got back up.

  • @RaveSceneTribute
    @RaveSceneTribute9 жыл бұрын

    Tyson's prime was 85-88. Lots of variables can be considered when something is in it's prime, age is just one of them. The day Don King fired Kevin Rooney In 1988 was the day Mike Tyson's career ended. The trainers Don King hired were sycophants who turned Tyson into a head hunter who was encouraged to take short cuts just because he was 'Mike Tyson'. Rooney would have never allowed Mike to Slack off like that. Out of the window went Tyson's lethal combinations, his elusiveness, his head movement, his footwork, his unbelievable work ethic, his overall discipline, fitness and not forgetting, his mental health. Mike Tyson never lost a fight with Kevin Rooney as his trainer. Don King was an evil blood sucking narcissist leech and Tyson was an extremely troubled RICH young man who was very malleable and open to manipulation. Don King KNEW this and did EVERYTHING in his power to bleed him dry. Kevin Rooney on Tyson's Decline: " Because Mike has had no guidance since he left me, he just does what he wants, His mind set is 'I'm the man.' But, a lot of fighters get like that. They forget the training that was there when they were just a little pup. Mike won't listen to anybody! If he felt he was in shape and needed to take off 5 or 10 pounds, he would just dry out. When I had Mike, he worked out. There was no need to dry out! He work out hard! That's what made him the best fighter and youngest heavyweight champion in the world. Mike didn't respect those guys. He knows more than them... and he knows it too. Those trainers that he's had, they don't know anything! Mike couldn't pull that shit with me. When it came to style, technique and all that, he couldn't go head to head with me. When he had those other guys, they didn't know what to tell him". The Tyson of 85-88 is technically the BEST heavyweight there's ever been and ever will be. The combination of natural talent, his genetics, SPEED, FREAKISH POWER, WORK ETHIC, Great punch resistance, Punch leverage and amazing DEFENSE with his constant head moment will NEVER, EVER be matched. He was a MACHINE. With the classic tyson, 85-88 (his prime) if he found you, you lose, it's that simple. In that period his defense was superior to anyone and Tyson in that young classic era had 20 rounds of stamina. Tyson barely lost a minute of any round for 4 years. He possessed the fastest muscle fiber twitching of any heavyweight since Ali.You cannot compete with that force of nature. 85-88 Tyson had the perfect balance of speed,power, stamina,conditioning, knowledge of the fight game(having watched over 2000 films of past champions) the best corner, the best fight ideology for short fighters. A concrete chin. Tyson post 88? forget it, not the same fighter, didn't train, took coke, weed, crack, you name it, not even the same person as the Motivated pre 88 Tyson who LIVED in the Gym. Why do you think people say 'Ali OR Tyson?' and not Ali OR Lewis, Ali OR Holyfield, It's always "Ali OR Tyson" FOR A REASON.

    cran vine it's easy to look amazing when you are fighting bums and has beens like Tyson did. The second he fought quality opposition he got his ass kicked. Tyson had absolutely no character, psychologically weak, no class, no brains and no heart. Ali would mind fuck him before the fight. Tyson was a bully, he didn't stand for anything and if he fought someone who wasn't afraid of him he crumbled. Tyson is one of the most overrated fighter ever. Ali the great would destroy Tyson in 8.

  • @KareemHarper

    @KareemHarper

    10 жыл бұрын

    Bascorasco Whoa whoa whoa, what are you talking about? Absolute madness. Bums and has beens? The competition he fought earlier in his career were far from has beens. He does have an interesting character, in recent years has reflected on his mistakes and showed considerable insight and maturity, is a true boxing historian - his knowledge of the sport is the stuff of legend praised by many iconic boxing historians thanks to Cus D'amato's teaching, he is actually quite intelligent (his break downs and play by plays of his successes and mistakes in earlier fights makes your statement false) and far from a bully. He was a competitive boxer that, yes, used intimidation (isn't the first nor will be the last) to unnerve opponents and lost his way after the death of Cus D'amato. Buster Douglas was a has been that Mike shouldn't have lost to. Mike went astray following Cus' death and allowed bums to beat him by getting involved with the wrong crowds, being manipulated and robbed by Don King. Cus D'amato was the nurturing figure that took a shy kid out of shitty circumstances that would cry when bullies killed his birds, took him in and turned him into a true boxer, but wasn't around to keep him from becoming a monster for a brief period of time. Had Cus D'amato lived longer, many argue Tyson would have held the belt for much longer. Tyson does belong up there as one of the best of all time.. Note "one" of. You like many others took his theatrics too literally, fail to realize this is a man that did his time, made mistakes and has fessed up to it - being more self deprecating and apologetic now upon reflecting on his mistakes as an older wiser individual. The current "Tyson" was always the shy kid always present in the past even during his monster days.. While I agree Ali is great, your attempted takedown of Tyson shows a true lack of respect (dare I say due to ignorance of the man's true history and informed by tabloid theatrics) of the road he walked and how far he's come.
