The sonata form was a very particular way musicians had to express their feelings , mostly cause they composed them for themselves . Haydn leaves the rococo formalities of the Esterhaza court and plunges directly into romanticism here . A deep and melancholic piece of music he dedicated to her lover Marianne von Genzinger . Formally for piano , this creative and marvelous organ version gives the piece an eery depth that makes my body shivver everytime i listen to it .
