    Bee people are heroes. I grew up and live in a farming community. Nothing makes me happier than seeing bees doing their thing. I am not afraid of them, on the other hand, wasps and hornets scare the spit out of me😅😂

    A tree fell in my neighborhood with a hive in it, and I knew that the rednecks would burn them out, so I left notes saying I was going to find someone to relocate it. After asking around, and making calls, the mailman informed me that a beekeeper loved right around the corner. Turned out that when the city sprayed for mosquitoes the year before it killed his hives, so he left work early and we relocated the grateful little ladies. I know they were grateful because I didnt wear any protective gear, and only got stung once because she crawled up my shirt and couldnt find her way out. It was the best day I ever had with clothes on.

After some "conversation" between the two of us I finally relented. ...I was scared spotless! The old man was quite amused. That man became my father-in-law and he started my love and fascination with bees. He's no longer with us but my love of bees remains. ...so much so that one year, for my birthday, my husband built a hive with a glass lid so I could go out and watch my babies work as I pleased. 🤗 Nothing better than watching someone else work their butts off! 😂 Prayers and blessings to Tony!!! I do the same thing in the south. 2 corrections to be made. Pollen and nectar are different. Pollen is what the baby bees feed on during development. Nectar is what gets turned into honey. Second, the bees do not go after the eyes, but they sting the face area because of the carbon dioxide that we exhale. In the wild when bears, raccoons, skunks, etc raid their hive the only place they can sting is around the intruders nose or mouth because if the fur. This is why they go after the face area. Great clip Mike!

  • @anthonyplanakis5020

    @anthonyplanakis5020

    Was wondering, when you are facing the hive ( which is facing south) and a north breeze blows your breath/carbon dioxide away from the hive, why do they still come to your face? Try this, approach your hive, stare down to the ground, see what happens. Again, no eye contact with the bees!!!! They are extremely intelligent and observant creatures . In the woods, if I don’t make eye contact with Deer, they’re not spooked, (I have pictures and videos of them within 3-5 yards of me) the minute I make eye contact, they go into alert, stomping hoof release alert pheromones from glands, snort and run, been doing for over 45years same studies in woods and hives. Try it.

    I love the show and what Mike and the team does. Just one thing I wanted to point out to clear up something of a myth: these are European honey bees, which are a non-native, introduced insect to the Americas, and while they are used to pollinate large fields of certain crops, they are not responsible for 80% of plant pollination, or even close to that. The "Save The Bees" movement was created to focus on native, mostly solitary, non-honey-producing species of bees that pollinate plants native to their habitats, and it was later co-opted by the honey industry to focus on honey bees. European honey bees are livestock, and are carted around to pollinate non-native agriculture. The majority of pollination is done by wind, and other insects, whereas only about 8-10% of the world's crop production is directly attributable to animal (insect) pollination, much less so directly by bees of any kind. European honey bees are NOT endangered and are actually growing in population, but many species of native bees worldwide ARE endangered, and are actually being pushed out by introduced European honey bee livestock. I still agree with the people in this episode, and honey bee colonies should be preserved whenever possible, but treating them as though they are some sort of savior-insect that humanity couldn't survive without is 100% propaganda from the 9 billion dollar honey industry.

    I had a friend who kept bees and told me a little bit about them. They are teeny, tiny livestock. You have to feed them when you take their honey away, treat them for parasites, and respiratory disease (lots of tiny sneezing), etc. He liked to just sit and watch them take off, return. They do a little dance when they find a good course of pollen.

    I’ve seen beekeepers put the combs into the new hives as well so they don’t stress the bees out so much. They also hunt for the queen. Tony probably did. here too, but I didn’t hear it mentioned.

    Actually the post office likes very much to move bees for people. It's just a bit strange at first but our bee protocols are excellent. After 32 years I've never been stung at work
