I’m a former Marine. Did two combat tours. When I got out, I became a Deputy and started working in jails. First thing I immediately noticed was how Military life is literally a mirrored image of jail life. We all are counting the days till our time is over. We all live from chow to chow. We all follow rules that we don’t necessarily believe in. We all get PT smoked by are higher ranks if we do something stupid, and the list goes on and on. Being based out of California, I got to learn how much Military influenced gang culture in the 50s. I also grew up in a gang infested city in the Bay Area and it’s honestly the same shit man. Just like I was told to go kill some terrorist in the name of “freedom” when in reality it was to fight some dumb war a politician made up, it’s no different from gangsters putting in work for their set. In the end, you are killing someone that you have no idea if they are a good or bad person. You just trust the system because it’s what your belief system is intertwined with.
