The reason Steve Novak was hitting all those shots, the reason Landry Fields and Jared Jeffries (who was absolutely awful before Jeremy Lin got playing time) started playing well out of nowhere is BECAUSE of Jeremy Lin. He got into the paint, drew the defense, and actually LOOKED for his open teammates. Before that, their offense was... give the ball to Melo and everyone stands around and watches him ISO for 20 seconds. There was 0 ball movement. 0 chemistry. Jeremy Lin utilized every one of his teammates. Novak was always a superb 3-point shooter... but his teammates barely looked for him before that. Lin gave him the wide open shots he needed to excel. Lin played the pick n roll with Tyson Chandler and Amar'e Stoudemire to perfection and gave them easy baskets. Same thing with Jeffries. And he had great chemistry with Landry Fields, as well.

Nah man. Every player that gets minutes on the floor has the support of their team, that's just a plain fact. And Jeremy got plenty of playing time after New York. He's more of what happens when people have unrealistic expectations including fans. The teams he went to after was expecting him to bring that Linsanity magic. If him or his coaches/team would have sat him down and focused on his strengths to become a consistent role player instead of trying to be a super star, he'd still be in the league today. Now, he eventually did that in Charlotte which led to him earning a starting spot in Brooklyn but by then he took too long and it became too little too late

As a former highlight producer at NBA TV, we got early video feed that many did not. I saw Lin do his little pre-game thing where he acted like he was reading some ancient scripture that his teammate was holding. The Knicks highlight was already finished for the night. I went to my supervisor and lobbied for him to add that to the highlight ( it is called the "stab"). He did it. Next thing you know, ESPN changed their highlight overnight to match the one we had. So of course I pat myself on the back for adding to the "folklore" of Linsanity

I believe it was one of the scouts, coaches or management at Houston who said in hindsight that they weren't sure why they did not take him even when Lin had good metrics. And then Houston had the audacity to apologize & ask for him back (with the dreaded poison pill) after Lin's popularity & skills were shown with the Knicks. Lin actually wanted to stay with the Knicks, but Knicks reneg after seeing how bad the pill was, so they didn't even put out an offer, even if it was smaller than Houston's.

In hindsight, Lin should have put on knee pads/braces on both his knees. Not bare knees or just on one knee, but both. He could have potentially prevented that injury at end of March 2012. He got NY up to 0.500 that season, after around 10 years of no Knicks post-season. And in 2016, he also got the Hornets to the playoffs after no post-season for about 14-15 years.

Considering how Lin was never the same impact player after leaving NY, and how much Nash and Harden blossomed under D'Antoni, it's always been clear to me that D'Antoni deserved more credit for Linsanity.

This is one of Melo's biggest blemishes on his career. He was known to be a selfish player, and it wasn't more evident till he ran Lin outta NY because he didn't like the attention he garnered. Lin was an unselfish team player who had the hunger and drive to succeed. He was what NY basketball needed, and exactly what that team needed; a team oriented playmaker who can knock down shots in big moments. He would have been doing his best to compliment his team, Melo included/especially. They stripped him of his confidence at his highest peak

Expectations were too high from him. He would've been great with the 2nd unit. Decent defense for a PG, decent shot, likes to pass the ball. If he wasn't so injury prone, I think he'd be a good veteran minimum pick up.

that was so awesome. i really wish he could've gone further in the nba. i remember when he was in houston there was this one stat who had the highest percentage finishing around the rim from x feet or something like that. Lebron James was 1 and Jlin was #2. so i went back and looked at his season highlights of fast breaks and he was so good at finishing at the rim
