I saw Commy's initial comments many years ago and laughed. Then he went on Detroit radio and savaged Babcock, and I kinda went "eh..". But now, to absolutely destroy a guy on Twitter who just lost his job, shows a profound lack of character. Commodore literally says that he and other players are "celebrating" it. I may think Babcock is a blowhard, but Mike Commodore isn't even a civilized man.

Keefe and Dubas go back a way. This has been a long time coming. Dubas has some players he really likes and Babcock seemed to be his polar opposite in both preference and treatment. It'll be interesting to see how Keefe decides to do things... but it should be pretty in line with whatever Dubas wants. That should improve the mood of the players... especially the top guys that were 'suffering' under Babcock. I'm not a Leafs fan, but if one thing comes out of all of this... I hope it is that Spezza gets given a few more chances.

Pat Quinn at the 06 Olympics proved that not just anyone can coach a group of great players and win with ease. Go look at that team Canada roster full of hall of famers and look at how miserably they failed . I'm not a huge fan of that argument because Babcock winning only 1 cup, just proves how difficult it is to win and stay on top

I think there's a few things. Your going to get tired fast trying to impress a coach. You can ride inspiration forever. On top of that the Leafs have two lines of top talent that as top talent have some of the lowest TOI in the league as far as top lines go. When you have a player who's historically has been the best in the NHL 5 on 5 and your losing games why are those lines playing so few minutes. Why when you have Defensive lines that aren't performing why aren't you changing them up. Also a ton of people are saying they didn't build a Babcock team. A coach being paid the biggest contract in league history should be able to adapt and he clearly couldn't. I hope he looks back on it and learns from it and comes back stronger and more able to adapt.

12:28 Just for the record, Babcock has gotten out of the first round since 2008... the Red Wings were back in the Final in 2009. Babcock also went to the second round in 2010, 2011, and 2013. Worth noting, perhaps, is the fact that in 2013 his Wings were eliminated by the eventual champion Chicago Blackhawks after previously holding a 3-1 series lead.

babcock was going one way with the team, dubas was going the other way. When they got rid of Lou Lamoriello it all went downhill. Lou was someone who had discipline and could set players straight. Lou would've never let nylander or marner get such terrible contracts, especially in TORONTO.

A year later, its amazing what has come out. Not a very nice man. What he did to Marner was disgusting. Good thing Marner wasn't my son. Later, on the CBC, he said something about tanking to get the first overall pick. If that is true, Mr Bettman needs an investigation. That said, I cannot see the players ever tanking. Its not in their DNA. If yes, what a conspiracy. I have always considered Prairie kids as the most honest hard working people on earth. Asking: how does Babcock fit into that group. He does not, in my opinion.

Wrong- coaches are EXTREMELY important in sports, especially hockey. Leadership for any organization or company is what determines their success or failure.

Didn’t say coaches weren’t important.. the facts are simple , you can have the greatest coach but they are always limited by the qualities of the players..

A baby giraffe could of won 1 Cup in Detroit with that group. Babcock is possibly the most overrated HC in the NHL over the last 25 years. Look at what Q did with Chicago, that's real coaching. Babcock couldn't carry Q's dirty laundry. Babs has done nothing to develop players, good riddance.
