    Excellent detailed instructions ! I went two steps further on ours that had the same problem! I took the relay out, cleaned the points or contacts and placed a capacitor or condenser across the points to avoid sparking and arcing ! no more burnt contacts!

    I have a different relay in my dishwasher. It has a couple of small relay type boxes soldered to a circuit board. Is there a repair that I can do to get it going, without buying a new relay.

    Can you please call Miele USA and have them send you a new heater/pressure switch and a new heater relay?

    Very interesting video. Have been referring to thus while trying to diagnose and fix the F24 error on my G1220SC. The fault was occurring approx 1 hour into the cycle. I changed out the relay to a second hand relay from a working machine but got the same error at the same part of the cycle. Decided then to remove the motor/pump and clean the impeller - which was pretty clean as it happened. After reassembly and checking the connections were all back in place, I ran the machine again. Result...F24 but now approx 15s into the cycle. I cannot work out what I changed although I cleaned out the pressure switch while I had it to hand and spilled some water on the upper part of the switch. I also checked the resistance across the heater...24 ohms (by my calculation, this is correct at the European voltage to generate approx 2.3kW... Is that change in the occurrence of the fault likely to be caused by any particular additional problem or misstep of mine in connecting the pump back up?

    Great Question. I would call Miele USA and order a new heater/pressure switch. That should do the trick👍

    @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Hi, did exactly that (found a new switch on the grey market for around half the price) and it fixed the problem! The part number as removed had been discontinued but the Miele website pointed me towards the updated part number in the dishwasher bill of materials. Really appreciate your advice - it has saved me hundreds and also stopped an otherwise functioning dishwasher going to landfill. Have been trying to work out why a pressure switch failure would manifest as an F24 - is its non-functioning causing the relay not to energise, resulting in an apparent open circuit there?

    Hi, I did a heater relay swap on my miele 2470 that was getting F24 (and F14), per your guides. I also cleaned the very clogged water intake filter to hopefully address the F14. After the relay swap my dishwasher refuses to start any programs (nothing happens when the door is closed, no drain cycle, no red light), though program selection works. The door switch is OK per my multimeter... Some water dripped from the water inlet mixer area to the circulation motor area during the swap, I wonder if that damaged something? Any recommendations? Problem remains if I go back to the original heater relay. In diagnostic mode U1 works somewhat (just the drain cycle), and U4 and U5 do nothing... The unit was running trouble free until the F14&F24s.

    @@agems56 I fixed it myself thanks to Scott's information. The ultimate fix was to replace the heater pressure switch. The manual led me astray - having both f24 & f14 errors at the same time is not documented as being possible due to that 1 part failure. Disagree about Miele repair guys. In my expensive CA zipcode the labor costs for a Miele repair man would be prohibitive. Might as well have junked the unit and replaced with a Bosch rather than deal with multiple service appointments. As for my failure to start, that was just a user error where I had the door latch in backwards such that it would click and latch but not trigger the relay. Duh.

    I’m getting an f24 error in the first few seconds. Cleaned the contacts but same issue. I also continuity tested the heater as you showed and it’s good. I have a relay on order. Seem like a good plan?

    I also have the same issue. I have an f24 and I cleaned the contacts with a file and electrical cleaner. Still did not work. After a few days of sitting, it ran fine and did so for a few days. Now....F24 again. I also replaced the non-return valve because the sump was not draining . There was always a half inch or so of water. Now that issue is resolved but still have an f24. Temp sensor checks out fine with a DMM. New relay needed? New wiring harness for relay? I can not even find a new relay. Only used on eBay.

    Been a while, but I remember calling a repair guy and he said another possibility for the f24 error could be a Pressure level monitor switch. I replaced the "Pressure level Monitor Switch". That fixed my f24 error. The part wasn't too expensive. Let me know if that does it.

    Do you need a special tool to get the side panel off? I thought it may have been a philips head screw but not so. My machine is showing F24 which is the water heater relay so I thought I would fix it myself instead of paying Miele $150 just to look at it...the robbers!

    I have a Miele G5705 dishwasher with an F24 error. I removed the heater relay and cleaned up the contacts. I tested the switch contacts continuity by connecting the relay contacts to a car battery. No continuity when not powered, continuity when it is powered. So the heater relay is working. Reinstalled it but the problem returns about 15 seconds after startup. The service manual says the startup sequence is checking for a stuck relay. Since it isn't stuck when I bench test it sounds likely this is a control board issue. Does this make sense? Could there be any other cause?

    I think you’re right. Do you know the ohms of resistance for the heater element. It could be the controller.

  • @magsteel9891

    @magsteel9891

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel The heater element resistance is 10.8 ohms. I found out how to enter service mode and read the stored fault codes. The stored codes were F11, F24, F52, and F79. I cleared all codes and started washer. Once I got F24 and F52, but since then I have gotten only F24. Sometimes it happens almost immediately after I start the program. Other times it happens a while later. The heater works. When using the "R1, Y63, M1, ..." test, water fills, circulates, heats, and drains. But this test does not detect faults. The K1 Relay test activated the relay. When I took the front off I found a wiring diagram. It looks to me like the heater relay outputs run through the water pressure sensor, and from there both to the heater and back to the control board. I guess it is possible the pressure switch could be causing the heater relay to look bad, not sure. Another possibility is the relay sometimes sticks. I found the pressure switch for sale on the Miele website but not the heater relay. Do you have a source for the heater relay?

  • @magsteel9891

    @magsteel9891

    I replaced the heater relay just in case it was intermittently failing. This did not help. Replacing the heater pressure switch appears to have fixed the F24 fault. I have run it for several wash cycles with no faults. From the description of the problem and the service manual information it is unclear why the pressure switch would cause an F24. Replacing the pressure switch was easy. Unplug machine, remove the water in the tub, lay machine on its side, remove the bottom panel. Lay a towel under the hoses blocking the switch. Remove the hoses blocking the switch. Disconnect the electrical connectors in front of switch. Use a thin blade screwdriver to pop the retaining latches holding the switch in and gently disconnect it. Pull the pressure switch towards you and remove the electrical connectors in the rear. Reverse the process to install. Scott has a video that covers it. NOTE: * remove any old pressure switch seals that may have gotten stuck in the tubes * While the machine is on its side all the rinse agent may drain into the tub. If this happens when you run the machine it may throw an F52 due to excess foam * If water from the disconnected hoses gets into the cabinet, when you plug it in the machine may start buzzing and the display will say "Waterproof". This indicates the machine detected the water in the cabinet and thinks there is a leak. Unplug the machine and tilt it to the rear and then to the front to let the water drain out and plug it in again. Summary details: Dishwasher model G5705 Heater relay Miele part number 5870220, $76. Heater pressure switch Miele part number 6996821, $71 Parts ordered from mieleusa web site The pressure switch comes with seals, no need to order them To put it in service mode: Press and hold program Press power on Release program Press program 3 times and hold on third for about 5 seconds Service manual pdf can be found online Wiring chart was found tucked behind the control module ** Review the relevant service manual pages before running service mode component tests
