Midicake ARP - Nerding Out with Sequence Parameters

I spent a little time here experimenting with arpeggiator parameters to create a sequence and walking through some of ARP's features and workflows.
I was pleased with the result. Hope you enjoy!

This is a very helpful video. The ARP is the final link in my 25 year quest for the dream set up I’ve been trying to obtain. Thank you from the bottom of my blipping heart

Thanks for your support. There's a small batch that will be going on sale in the next couple of months, then depending on the amount of interest, I'll seek investment, most likely through crowdfunding.

At 18:18 you did something that caused your program to disappear and you had to re-enter the sequence you entered at the beginning of the video. What is it that you did that cleared the program? I've lost my program at some point and I don't know what I did. BTW a lot of info in this video.

If you manually input a note/chord selection, the Chord Chain will be reset. At 18:16, I pressed C# by mistake. ARP isn't primarily a sequencer, it was designed to follow an external performance, so chord chaining was added as a tool to free up your hands while experimenting with parameters. It's helpful in preventing ear boredom and fun for playing with ideas. We are not planning to extend the use of chord chains (to save chord chains to patches, etc.) ARP doesn't have controls designed to manage this. Maybe ARP 2.0 :)

@@midicakemidi thanks Chris for the quick response. That explains why the chord chains aren't saved. Of course now that's exactly what I want, to be able to save the chord chains/sequences etc. I understand the philosophy though, using an external sequencer for that and having the unit respond to midi notes/messages. midicake arp is so capable as it is that I kind of expected it would have some sort of sequencing built in. Not to complain of course.

@@bonaventura_AKA_ben Always looking for ways to improve ARP. Maybe it could save the chord chain with the patch and have an option to lock it to chain'. That will disable all the chord and note buttons in play mode though, so it'll need to be obvious that it is in "chord chain mode", and easy to exit that mode to play live again. It will need some thought. Thank you for the feedback though, this is great stuff!

Ok so i got my midicake. Could you do a full basic tutorial ( i mean a recent one). I cannot use the thing and all the tutorials are old. I have both a ndlr and a torso instruments. Yours have nothing for new users.
