Yes, pick a popular color. Bad condition is worse than bad color.

I moved from IN to TN in late February. Thought I'd have 3 months to explore where to live. The place I rented ended up being in a borderline area and was a mess. I explored as much as possible the week I was there...but didn't find anything worth buying. Must say I was shocked by how dated and beat up Knoxville and Nashville were. I didn't enjoy either city. I didn't have time to explore Nashville's suburbs, but I sure there are some impressive areas. I did a bit of exploring around Knoxville's suburbs and found some very interesting places. LOVED lake Cherokee and Douglas! Went to a city called Farragut and found more of what my hopes for Tennessee would be. At current prices, it isn't affordable for me atm. The average home cost well over 600k...and is more than double my savings. I probably should have hooked up with a realtor before even going down, but got the cold shoulder from the one I meet after seeing just three homes. This left me feeling lost...and worried about too many uncertainties, so I repacked all my things and drove back to Carmel, IN. before my job restarts in hopes of savings more resources and watching prices return to reason. Don't know if I'll try again or try elsewhere. HATED TN cities...could see LOVING the suburbs. Kind of regret not trying to chase a dream in Nashville, I can sang...but actually feels like a relief to return to Carmel(an extremely nice place surrounded by other extremely nice cities).

Goodness I hate hearing that this happened to you, but appreciate your comment and sharing your experience. If you like a better maintained community overall and the suburbs, you may even like Murfreesboro. The Blackman area of Murfreesboro has a similar feel to the Farragut area in Knoxville. Or to get out of the Nashville metro area altogether you may like Cookeville. Never too late to chase that dream ☺

@@nonyabusiness1126 Unfortunately that's outside middle TN and my service area (I'll go about 2 hours outside Murfreesboro either way, I think that's nearly 3 hrs from me). Call or send me a text and I can connect you with my colleague in that area, my cell is 865-242-1663 Thanks!!

Homes sales ate slowing and will get slower. Went and looked at several new construction. There were a lot of damages. Bad paint jobs, damaged trim work, etc. There are several homes owed by these ibuy companies selling for $60k plus under what they bought them for.

Researching areas around Nashville and considering retiring in middle Tennessee. Off the bat, I just loved what I saw when I did my online research on Murfreesboro. It has everything I want in a city except no lakes but everything is a compromise as they say. I do like Hendersonville for that reason as we consider that area as well. My husband keeps straying me away from Murfreesboro because his friend who lives in Spring Hill said the sprawl over there will continue to get worse because it has exploded with people moving there. He also mentioned the two main highways go through Murfreesboro and people from the south need to take that road to get to Nashville which makes traffic a nightmare. We will be retiring and not commuting to Nashville daily so I just don't get his concern. Is local traffic into Murfreesboro bad as well? Can you help me convince my husband that Murfreesboro is growing just like every other suburb outside of Nashville? What is your opinion on the growing sprawl in the future? Thank you!!! :-)

Hi J Girl! I really chuckled at your friend's comment. Spring Hill (lovely area) has their infrastructure/traffic issues just like Murfreesboro and every other suburb outside of Nashville. Just about entire Nashville metro area (Davidson and 12 surrounding counties) is growing faster than roads can keep up with, but there will be pros and cons to any area you live in. I also wouldn't want that commute between Nashville and Murfreesboro.. But it's fine for those occasional visits for shopping/entertainment/travel. As far as the sprawl of Murfreesboro, I'm able to keep on one side of town for essential errands unless I'm showing houses or visiting the other side for something specifically. I could go on LOL. My cell is 865-242-1663 if you want to talk further :)

@@RachaelintheBoro We are visiting in June and I am adding Murfreesburo to my list of stops. Thank you for your response. I will absolutely reach out if we should decide to move to middle Tennessee. I assume you do other counties? We are also interested in Sumner County as well.
