    I've been using it all today and I am seriously blown away with it. He talks about it eventually getting Starbucks integration. It's already integrated! It will generate a barcode from the tile and you can pay using your watch. Using it to call, text and receive notifications and it's done awesome. But the heart rate monitor is spot on unlike most fitness watches that use audio to find your heart beat. This is optical and very accurate. Great Day 1 for me!

    I am greatly impressed. Workout walkthrough? Ability to dismiss the phone and do stuff directly from the wrist? CORTANA?! I WILL FINALLY BE ABLE TO PUT MY PHONE SOMEWHERE ELSE!

    Yes, how weird is having 1000 grams in a kilogram, seeing as kilo means "1000". And then continue the same logic using nano, micro, milli, centi, kilo, mega, on every single measurement across the board in all areas of measurement. It makes much more sense to have 16 ounces in a pound. And then have 3 feet in a yard, and 51/2 yards in a rod , 220 yards in a furlong, etc- Do you have micro-inches, or do you simply say "one millionth of an inch" or 1/10^6 inches?

  • @TrevorReis

    I think that's why he said "...our crazy imperial system" him commenting about him finding kilograms bizarre is because we don't have context for them. So, while we understand the metric system and how everything relates to each-other within it (that's a simple concept), we don't inherently have any idea of what a kilogram feels like to lift, for example. Just like when we see speed limit signs in kph we don't have any concept of how fast that is, we see signs that have 55 and 60 and 75 on them often and know that anything above 60 is highway speed 80 being really fast for most people. But we see kph signs that have like 90 on them and think that's super fast, but we don't really know how fast that is...

    Trevor Reis That's true, experience is needed to make sense of the numerical values. But that's true for any measurement. The relationship between the different units is what doesn't make sense for me. With the metric system, if you know one you know them all. It was just a minor comment in this video, I just hear it so often. ;]

    fjaurler I agree, the imperial system is silly especially with ounces as a measure of volume (fluid ounces) and regular ounces as a measure of weight... But yeah the 514 or something arbitrary amount of feet in a mile is dumb. But that's what we get for separating from England pre-metric system and being too isolationist and stubborn to change to the more effective system. But you will never get me off of the Fahrenheit system... Celsius makes no sense in the real world... Only for science.

  • @fjoo

    @fjoo

    Trevor Reis How does Fahrenheit make more sense? They seem equally arbitrary to me. - One is based on human core temperature, and the coolness of brine, while the other is ranged between freezing and boiling of water. - Up here in the north both human core temperature and frozen water is equally useless/full. ;]

  • @fjoo

    Trevor Reis PS. I'm not really in favor of the old metric system, but the international system of units, which is the modern form of the metric system and works pretty good. It throws out both celsius and farenheit.

    @Cecilia Terrile 1. By having a separate app, it's easier to update and add new features. 2. There's an option to turn on watch mode in the band. Settings -> Watch mode -> Toggle on/off. It's similar to glance screen in windows phone, the display will be always on showing time and date.

    Looks like a well implemented concept. Works smooth on all it's review videos. Well done Microsoft. Although it is a fitness accessory, reading SMS messages and notifications at that weird angle on your wrist might get annoying after a while, on the other hand you might just get used to it. But overall, a good implementation of a wearable.

    Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but it seems that the display is designed to be viewed ergonomically from wearing the band w/ the display on the underside of your wrist. Wearing it on the topside of your wrist looks incredibly difficult to see display output straight up and down without contorting your arm in an uncomfortable, and unnatural fashion. Maybe there is a vertical display orientation option?

    Connected Apps soon. This thing has been in development for 3 years, and they didn't even bother to talk to any companies early so that they could have at least 2 or 3 sister apps to go along with it? And while it can be worn either way, and they even show in their long video of it being worn either way, MS's intended way is the screen on your inside wrist. It's only obvious as well since you can't read the damn thing the other way, anyway.
