Fascinating comparison, thanks. The difference in coverage is surprising, but I suspect that keeping the image rectilinear is what makes the focal length the same, but the field of view smaller. Great photos, by the way.

Thank you! I agree with you on the reason for the difference in field of view. Thanks for watching and commenting too!

Don thanks for the video. I now know the difference between recto linear and fish eye. BTW - I still love the dog!

Olympus Pen, Jack Russell Terrier, 2nd gen Honda Ridgeline RTL-E w/ dark grey interior, and fisheye lens (not Fotasy brand though). We have things in common! ;)

Good to see you Don. I settled on the Laowa 6mm f2 Dreamer lens and noticed the same difference between it and the Samyang 7.5mm regarding coverage.

Great comparison, Don. I have the 7Artisans 7.5mm F2.8 fisheye and the Meike 3.5mm circular fisheye. Both interesting but different.

I am more into the rectilinear lens as well. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The millimeters are weird in fisheye. Fisheye is typically 180 degrees corner to corner (though with Micro 4/3 it may be less if the lens was originally designed for APS-C). A rectilinear lens cannot be 180 degrees,

All quite true. This lens is, I believe, a C mount (movie/video camera) lens with an M43 adapter installed so it is covering a slightly larger than designed image sensor. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Don,t do fisheye lenses Don, stick to M4/3 glass. the superb Lumix 20 mm F1.7, Olympus 45 mm, F1.8, then the pro zoom,s, all you need.
