    Rob, another great video. As I mentioned before I have the Panasonic 8-18 and it’s a great wide angle, but expensive for a lens that lives at the bottom of my camera bag. I might sell it and get something like the Oly 8mm. Thanks for the information. 😊

    Rob, great detail on a system that I still love with native and adapted lenses. One suggestion though - if you are comparing 2 or more things it can be confusing if you say 'this one' of 'this' 'cuz it's not always clear which one you mean or someone might not be watching the screen. It's just as easy to say the 'Pixco' or the 'Oly' or the 'Oly Pro' to be clear. You go in depth on the Oly more than anyone else and saw you linked on one of the top micro43 sites.

  • @RobTrek

    @RobTrek

    5 жыл бұрын

    In m4/3 terms, I usually use the 17mm or 12mm for street. The 25mm is not really wide enough for my tastes. If I want to go tighter, I would rather use my 45mm.

    Hi Rob .I saw a very ineresting lens that was unknown to me. The Kamlan lenses. Not very big variety but the 8mm f3.0 was very attractive and looks like its very well build(maybe not on par with olympus pro fish eye) and very well priced. Any comment on these lenses, as some of the them is mft mount.

  • @RobTrek

    No experience with that brand. I tend to focus on the focal lengths and aperture I need vs brand when it comes to third party. The Pixco 8mm is a perfect example. For personal stuff, ultimate image quality is not high on the list. For my pro work, I can justify only the best. There is a mieke 6mm f/2 that you might want to check out. I have an older version of it and really like it.

  • @Leptospirosi

    A couple of quesrions: given the very expensive pricetag, what leaned you to the 8mm fisheye instead of the more flexible 7-14mm pro from Olympus (except for the f1.8)? Second question: weighting the 8mm, which is a fisheye (with software correction) against the Laowa 7.5mm which Is a rectilinear lens (not cheap either) what made you lean to the Olympus lens?

  • @RobTrek

    @RobTrek

    5 жыл бұрын

    The 7-14 is much more expensive and not as wide after correction. I can see the correction in the viewfinder of my em1-ii, so it helps me compose the shots on site. So the combo of composing in camera, faster 1.8 aperture, and lower price sealed the deal. Also I rarely need anything between 9mm and 14mm. I'd rather use a prime 12mm f2 or 17mm f1.8.

    I got a cine to M4/3 adapter to use with my 25mm CCTV lens, but when I put it on my OMD EM10-ii it blacks out the screen. The screen and sensor are working as I bring it up to the mount, but when I make contact with the body, it blanks out. Maybe the contacts are shorting? Does anyone else have this lens with EM10-ii? Does the adapter work for you?

    Usually it's because the locking pin is not engaging fully on the mount. Make sure when you twist the lens onto the camera that you hear it click. You'll see a small hole on the adapter that must align with the locking pin on the camera. Let me know. Thanks. -Rob

    @@RobTrek That wasn't it. The lock pin clicks in when I turn it such that I have to press the lens release button to unscrew it. I even tried drilling out the notch a little bit on the adapter with no change. So I cut out a small piece of electrical tape and put it on the adapter where it touches the connector pins on the body and that did the trick.
