Mickey Cougar Gets Rescued

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Big Cat Rescue performs a much needed rescue for Mickey the cougar as well as several other animals on an Alabama property. Mickey is found to have been neglected to the point that his ACLs have deteriorated in both hind legs leaving him unable to walk without pain. In this video you can see Mickey's former living conditions and what he came from to emerge as part of the Big Cat Rescue family.

"agreed to surrender"? She had no right to keep these animals in the first place, especially if she was going to treat them like this and operate a fake pound. This is a crime (even if people don't treat it like it)

purring or chuffing is not always a sign of happiness. Cats purr when they are stressed, in pain or severely ill. Often, cats at the end of life will purr, so purring/chuffing is more likely to be a mechanism that helps cats rest and repair.

The woman who owned Animal House sickens and disgusts me. It's sick and disgusting and heartless, the state she has allowed the exotics to live in, and it's sick and disgusting heartless how she fed them. I'm so glad you and other rescues were able to get some animals out of there, and I sincerely hope the rest of the animals still there are able to be rescued and given good lives. My heart breaks for the leopard that succumbed to its untreated injury. Unacceptable that no one at the government level would/could do anything for the animals before now!

For all those wondering how this can happen, it's because existing laws aren't enforced, and they aren't because of budget cuts in which animal welfare is the least of the public's concerns. The only answer is to donate to not for profits like BCR or to understand and accept the relationship between taxes and the maintenance of a civil society that protects its most vulnerable members' welfare.

  • @Gj23jk2

Much like the "stop world hunger now" argument, the "stop animal cruelty now" argument suffers from the same inherent flaw: execution. Anybody who's not evil already knows it's a crime to throw a live dog into a leopard's cage. That's not up for dispute. The issue is how you go about finding the money, legislative energy, executive power and judicial firmness to ensure that those who DO things like that are actually prosecuted, much less punished severely. You're right to point out the financial aspect; rich people pay a lot of taxes, poor people don't, and many of these Southern states barely have the tax revenue to keep the local police stations open, much less staffed with honest, eager types. Corruption is the result, and I have no doubt many roadside zoos and fake sanctuaries are allowed to exist because of bribes & favoritism on the county level (which is the supreme level in many of the most rural areas).

She was probably the one who called the police on the psycho keeping them and only stayed out of concern for their wellbeing. She obviously loves these animals and was very happy to see them finally getting the care they deserved. STOP INSULTING HER AND MAKING HER SEEM LIKE THE BAD GUY WHEN NONE OF THIS WAS HER DOING.

It just absolutely horrifies me that some people have the heart to treat animals like garbage, there is no excuse for this kind of cruelty to any animal what so ever, not just cats. What disturbed me the most about this situation aside from her feeding them live cats and dogs, is that the vet didn't bother to come back and check on that leopard, which died from Sepsis which absolutely heartbreaking, that woman deserves to be put in prison for life and be treated the same way as she treated those innocent animals, so she could feel the pain and misery that they went through. But, I am soo glad that you guys managed to save some of the animals, you guys are the best when it comes to saving and helping animals.

if they weren't going to get it proper vet care, imo it would have been less cruel to put that leopard down. (i'm not sure if it would have lived even WITH good vet care, but for sure the actual situation was "the darkest timeline" one.)

I'm always reminded of Cleveland Amory when I watch these videos, and the Black Beauty Ranch that he founded, named after the book, and the quote: "I shall never be sold, and so I have nothing to fear; and here my story ends. My troubles are all over, and I am at home; and often before I am quite awake, I fancy I am still in the orchard at Birtwick, standing with my old friends under the apple-trees."

I have been following Big Cat Rescue's activities for over a year now and I must say, it's on my bucket list to visit their location! Should I ever win the lottery or obtain a good sum of money, I'll definitely be donating to help their noble and righteous cause. It's the best thing anyone can do for a formerly abused animal to take it into the best possible care and let them live out the rest of their lives in peace. I am in graphic arts college, and I even did a newsletter project based on BCR's aspirations/intentions and to help teach the public about the abuse of circuses, pay to play booths, etc. when it comes to big cats, as well as how white tigers are not a species, but a form of abusive inbreeding. THANK YOU BCR, for everything you work so hard for. You make the world a better place for people AND animals.

"Feed a live doberman to the leopard" Where do these ignorant people get those lovely creatures. Isn't there a procedure they should follow? In my country we have a list of animals we're allowed the keep as pets and other animals you have to follow a special procedure. The judge (assisted by a professional, vet, zookeeper / someone with enough knowledge) decides if you're allowed to own any of those exotic animals before you actually buy them.

To see such a beautiful animal treated like that brings tears to my eyes. I don't understand how people can be so cruel. I don't know the situation of the former owner, but, they must have realized there are places that could better care for these animals. Of course, the fact that she fed donated animals to them says a lot about her compassion.
