Mick Mars vs. John 5 - Home Sweet Home

Музыка

The purpose of this video is not to prove that one guitarist is better than the other. I deeply admire and respect both and wanted to put together a video to highlight their individual musical talents and skills

In my opinioni both guitarists are legendary. Both have their own, unique style. And there's no denying Mick has written countless, classic guitar riffs and solos that make up the Crue sound and feel. Mick is a great rock guitarist who's work will live on to inspire future rock guitar players. John 5 is a wizard on the guitar, a true virtuoso. And a very humble player who is doing a great job playing Mick's songs. He's not getting flashy or trying to make them his own. He is playing them as true as he can to how they were composed by Mick. At least from what I see in this video. You gotta respect that. I feel lucky to have seen them both play several times. Thanks for posting this video. Respect and props to both of these great musicians.

I remember coming across a video of John 5 playing a Kiss song true to the original, yet better than Kiss could ever play it. He's really one of the most gifted guitarists around because beyond his technical wizardry he has a feel in his playing that many of the technical guys seem to have lost as the mastered the instrument.

I think John did the solo respectfully. He didn’t try to make it flashy, so I can respect that. However, true talent is not just play, but in one’s ability to compose. With that, Mick will always be the one true guitarist of Motley Crue. Also, in these videos you are comparing a 70 yr old with a spine disease to a younger guitarist. That has to be taken into consideration also😊

Why does this have to be a competition? Look, Mick was a horribly underrated badass for 40+ years with the Crue, and honestly the primary reason I ever got into music and started playing guitar. Yes, there are hundreds, even thousands of other guitar players out there that may be considered more technically adept than Mick, but NOBODY can play with the power and feel that Mick has. He will always be one of my favorite guitar players. When Mick stepped down, I thought that John 5 was absolutely the best choice to fill the spot, and I think he's doing a tremendous job honoring and paying tribute to Mick's legacy, but he's not Mick and nobody else ever will be. You see, this was a simple riff by Mick who was a pretty decent Metal guitarist while John is an absolute VIRTUOSO. What John 5 did that was amazing and touching was that he played this riff, note by note and out of respect for Mick and the original song. havin' seen Motley live and countless live performances of in this case, one of my all time fave power ballads from the legendary band Motley Crue for over 35 years, i still get the chills of a guitarist like the highly underrated old school style of mr. Mars, who never plays the same thing twice like many guitarists of his time never did, the true soul and essence and grit of rock n' roll and like any great guitarist has his own unique style, and then there's the terrible circumstances Mick is in and have been for many years with his illness, barely being able to move, i understand him deeply that he had enough and it saddens me that all these legacy bands continue to march on, no matter what the drum of a never ending growth/thirst for nostalgia by the masses/fans.....and cash, gotta eat, rigth? but one thing's for sure, i'll believe a band of this ilk that they have played their final gig; NEVER TO REFORM as long as i live, then i'll believe them, but i guess it's til death do them apart it is, how the mighty have fallen, but this is nothing new, just integrity dosen't mean much as far as legacy bands goes, which was and will always be important to me, but on the bright side there's soo much great and exciting new rock, metal punk, goth, etc music, usually, as always coming from the underground that more than ever, at their best, and being quite picky, that play legacy style aka timeless rock, metal, goth, punk what have you, and these are also bands that will grow slowly but never become big, but why would that be a goal, as those days, compared to all the pioneers that started it all, are gone due to the status quo of how music/the world has changed....i'll leave it like that, and yes John 5 is a great player, don't like his signature licks though, although here he pays a fine hommage here, and he seems like a very nice guy from the many interviews i've seen by him, though never liked any of the music he has made except for a couple of those ditties he did with the the one and only Diamond Dave, which i found entertaining and sweet with those lyrics from DLR
