Not to defend her, but shes not the only one, the ENTIRE Tory Government was in on this and billions in borrowed Government money was channelled into the pockets of wealthy Tory donors through the VIP fast lane. They are desperate to throw her under a bus in order to deflect the media from further attention so in a way I’m glad she hit back and Sunak and straight out said he and others knew what was going on. The non Tory media need to keep digging, maybe this needs another Led by Donkeys/ITV News full exposure.

Because up until perhaps 1997 (with the exception of all the fuss in the C17th, and perhaps some of the changes during the postwar era), we in this country have sought to make only the absolutely necessary changes, preserving tradition, and ensuring that we do not throw out the proverbial baby with the bathwater. We have, I would argue, as a result enjoyed a rather stable and prosperous society over quite a long period, especially when compared with other nations. When we look to countries that have carried out more abrupt and sweeping changes, the same can not often (if at all) be said.

National Crime agency is in the process of investigating it all, but the problem I have with that is far higher people and more powerful, will be dragged into the investigation so the truth won't come out. Corrupt UK at its best.

Mone must be prosecuted but must not be used as a scapegoat. Other offenders must also be punished and so must the government ministers who aided and abetted these despicable crimes.

This idea that lying is not a crime is BS. When it comes to things legal it absolutely is a crime and will often get you into a lot of trouble.

Um, I think that the Tory Lords need to prove they weren't profiteering. They don't deserve any form of trust - at this point, in fact, it's basically a case of "Prove you aren't a crook - the fact you were put forward by a Tory is basically a negative recommendation"

I was just wondering how much of what her company delivered was actually usable. And it now sounds like that is being investigated. This is one of the key issues surrounding PPE. It’s important to manufacture this stuff quickly, but it is doubly important to ensure that it works properly and saves lives.

Mone’s behaviour is so troubling as to literally threaten the House of Lords itself. To be clear what she did was corruption, it’s no better then using your influence in government to steal public money. If I had done that in my job as a civil servant, I’d be sacked. If a minister did it, they would be sacked. If a lord does it - who can sack them? She said that everyone else was doing it too. Given the opacity and the lack of accountability of the lords, I believe her. For the first time she might not be lying about that.

The tory government was neither inept, nor incompetent, this is just a perception they are happy to hide behind. This was outright corruption, those parasites saw an opportunity to grab huge sums of our money during a time of crises and crammed their snouts right into it. Don't let them hide behind the excuse of incompetence, they need to be prosecuted not ridiculed.

It’s terrible that she was given the PPE contracts, it’s as bad as insider dealing. The government are also complicit in all of this. Any other company would be taken to task a given massive fines. None of her business was ethical.

It's way more than that, it's criminal fraud involving the Government. This company given the contract didn't exist when she approached the Government, it had only been registered weeks when it was awarded a 200 million (dual) contract. The PPE sourced was from a company in Asia. The valuation was hiked by around 80% None of the main order was accepted or used, the lesser order (face masks) were used despite not being up to health standards. The Government gave her newly created company these contracts over decades old companies, and the Government were aware there was no history of Mone or her husband having any dealings in medical grade PPE. They saw a way to buy cheap equipment overseas and sell it here at a vastly inflated price, opportunistic fraud. And that's just the highlights. It goes way further than this.

That 33% is her quoted profit margin the real margin may be more like 90% as we don't have audited accounts and proof of the actual cost of goods and verified the actual cost of goods via invoices and cross checking the actual goods delivered.

Mone and Barrowman should be in prison. If I conducted myself like this in my business dealings I would be charged with criminal convictions.
