The dog too; it is a fine dog but takes away all the focus from the singing IMO

These modern productions drive me nuts. I can't imaging Michael was happy with this production. Dog sitting while singing the key tenor aria???? Really???

Sinceramente gli hanno fatto fare una cafonata, con questi storpiamenti... Ma purtroppo certa gente arriva dov'è, non per merito... Ma per raccomandazioni, fortuna e calci in culo... Perché questa non è assolutamente una persona adatta a fare il regista... Ha rovinato una canzone.

Poodle is great, real circus. He should had been barking loudly during this area. Would had been much more fun.

Castellucci a encore frappé! ⚠️ Metteur en scène à éviter à tout prix si on veut voir et écouter de l’opéra et pas des branlettes pseudo-intellectuelles d’un artiste sans goût ni respect pour ce qui le dépasse. Ce n’est pas la première fois qu’il détruit Mozart malheureusement!

Absolutely gorgeous! Superb singing. But again awful direction. Every director worth their salt knows that a live animal is a complete scene stealer so it’s either the centre of a scene or you don’t use it, unless you’re actively trying to denigrate the actor and undermine the scene.

Très belle voix mais j'ai horreur des transpositions. Pour moi. Ce n'est pas Don Giovanni. C'est mon avis.

Maybe in the future Michael can be advised to avoid boneheaded productions like this.

Imagine that thing peeing as he sings that long line "Moooooooooorte! Morte Mi Da!"

Wonderful singing, but whoever is responsible for this travesty of a production should never be allowed in a theatre again. I'm so fed up with awful, stupid productions.

Michael Spyres is a revelation. His voice is just so unique and versatile. But, I just don't understand what the deal is with these European productions and these horrid productions. I'm not a stuffy purist by any means but the staging and costuming here is just, well ugly. It does no justice to the music or the singers. I think you can update things without making them look like a thrown together mess with no real creative direction.

Why the hell is there a dog on the stage ? Spyres sounds great, but the production is distracting to say the least.

Of all the animals the director could have chosen, he chose a French poodle ! If there has been any doubt that Don Ottavio was a complete wuss, that poodle removes ALL DOUBTS !

Michael is great: the production sucks and I can hear the dog whimpering; who is the stupid jealous director ot this mess?

Excellent, outstanding the voice, but the directed it sucks.....the costumes, what is it with the dog.........this modern......

Why is it the singing so poor and pop? Is this opera or modern theather?

because in belcanto you have to show all the spectrum of colors, from the sweet and soft singing to the heroic phonation. This is the challenge, to demonstrate that you can manage your instrument in every aspect. I like this version, reminds me the glorious perfomance co dalla sua pace singed from Gigli. Too easy sing all forte with the same phonation.

Also bc this is simply the taste right now. Conductors and coaches really like this soft singing, and Spyres can do it extremely well

I've never heard this version before. I usually listen to Heddle Nash singing it, a great English tenor of the past, and like his version very much
