In this video (as in many of M. Singer's), it is argued that our preferences, along with our needs and desires, are a form of resistance to life and a cause of suffering, the result of programming that keeps us stuck in dysfunctional patterns. Personally, while I appreciate Michael Singer's perspective that surrendering to life is what is expected of us in this incarnation, regarding our passions (which wouldn't exist without preferences🤔), this alternative view resonates with me much more: Hobbies, passions, and inspiration can only come from the Source (God or whatever you prefer to call it). The Universe chose each one of us to be its medium to know and experience itself, among other ways, through our unique passions in their diversity - those things we are intuitively drawn to without knowing why. The example given is that of Michael Jordan, who doesn't just play basketball but channels basketball. The invitation, therefore, is to live our passions fully as a Divine experience. ✨🙇🏻‍♀️ Truly, authentically beautiful.❣️ kzread.info/dash/bejne/nmidlZSflsmtppM.htmlsi=RP_zCEA9JA-EtFTc

Thanks for your post. I'm about to watch the video you posted. But before I'm influenced by the video I wanted to post a few comments. I don't think Singer is saying we shouldn't be passionate about anything. I think he's saying we should be passionate about everything. And I think he would agree that if we are intuitively drawn to a particular hobby that we should pursue it. He would describe it as the Universe creating the moment in front of us. And I think he would agree that Michael Jordan channels basketball. He just recently used an example of a musician becoming one with the music. I think that's kinda the same. I think if you're clear inside then all of these passions will flow and you will channel whatever passion the Universe has placed in front of you. But if you have blockages, they will hinder this flow. It seems to me that passion is like shakti. It flows if you let it! .....I'm gonna watch that video now.

Wow, that was great. Thanks for posting the link. I think he and Michael Singer are saying the same thing. And I think it all comes down to the source of the inspiration. True inspiration comes from God (Source, Universe) and when you are not blocking it, it comes through, like in Aaron’s example about the musician and the soccer player. They were just naturally drawn to one activity and not the other. They were clear enough to allow the inspiration to come through. But when you’re not clear (when you have blockages), what you call inspiration may actually be your personal self, trying to do whatever it can to make it okay inside. Aaron gave an example of this when he described the person who thought they could be happier in this terrible life by becoming famous. This example is the “preference” Singer says to let go of. It’s the mind saying, “I’m not okay inside. How can I make myself okay?” When Aaron talks about “getting out of the way”, he’s talking about letting go of personal preferences. Let me know if you disagree.

Its painful because we don't let it pass through. Weeping may endure for one night, but joy comes in the morning. Newsflash: Trauma causes us to hold on to the pain, under the guise of preventing us from being hurt. It doesn't work that way. reality, we're just are just prolonging the pain.

Jai Guru Dev, Jai Masters. Jai Guru Dev is a traditional Hindu phrase that means Glory to the Great Teacher (the most accurate translation would be glory to the shining remover of darkness), where the great teacher here is generally considered to be the Divine Soul, while we, as human beings, are considered the individuated Soul. Jai Masters means Glory to the Masters, some of whom Singer refers to at times.
