Michael Pento Predicts A Hard Landing Later This Year Due To Liquidity Crunch

-Michael Pento predicts a "liquidity crunch" causing a severe economic downturn in the coming months, due to disinflation and slowed growth. This could lead to negative nominal prints for Q2, Q3, and Q4 of 2023, signaling an official recession and significant fall in financial averages.
Pento observes an over-leveraged global economy, fueled by "free money" and low interest rates, leading to record inflation and asset bubbles. He indicates that non-financial business debt is now 75.8% of GDP, higher than before the global financial crisis.
According to Pento, we're moving from rapid inflation to disinflation, primarily due to a decrease in money supply growth rate. The Federal Reserve's policy of money printing and loan encouragement has led to this shift.
The Federal Reserve's increase in federal funds rate and contraction of bank lending standards following the banking crisis has contributed to the economic tension. With the current debt levels, Pento suggests that the economy could be more vulnerable to rising interest rates.
Pento's model predicts that the current disinflation will transition into deflation and recession in the near future. He suggests using a five-sector investment strategy based on the inflation spectrum for financial positioning during these changing economic conditions.

Confused he's saying inflation will be sticky in the first half then switches to saying we're heading for deflation and recession. So inflation won't be sticky? What am I missing?

Needed to see this today. Struggling with Finances for months now after my divorce, I just discovered his outstanding resume when I searched for his name on Google. I count it a blessing that I came across this comment section....

I’m not picking on Mr. Pento, but I would love to see an interview with Adam where he goes back over the past 2-3 years and compares a pundit’s predictions to actually what has happened. I love Wealthion as it’s the best and most of the guests are stellar yet I don’t see any real accountability. Just saying and maybe it’s just me?
Michael is great for reminding us how distorted the global economy is in fundamental terms. But, of course, timing is everything. Inside the financial casino, the money is flowing and the gambling continues unabated.

@@rubicon3416 I believe that all depends on what kind of interventions will come from the central banks. They’ve become quite creative with their blank checks.

Bloomberg is turbo-charged nonsense disguised as relevant data and discussion. They always sound so convincing, but in reality it's not very much depth or careful consideration as is needed.

I use to follow Michael back in 2013 & 2014. Back then, 10 years ago, he was saying that bonds are going to go into a massive bear market, gold was going to the moon and the stock market was going down. Fast forward 10 years. None of what he predicted, back then happened. Instead we had one of the best bull markets in history. A lot of your guest Adam must have very short memories or are very new to finance, or maybe both? Michael use to work for Peter Schiff, another one who has been saying for over 10 years that the market will crash, buy gold, blah blah. Yes the market will crash one day and gold will go up and they will come out and say, I told you. If Michael really understood the economic cycle he would not have been calling a major recession 10 years ago. This big bond market crash that Michael is talking about is BS. Bond yields are still lower than they were back in 2007, which the 10yr was 5% and it's 3.8% at the moment.
Thank you both for the amazing content! This is arguably the best content covering the current economic challenges that we face today. He references the “not normal” feeling that some of us have and makes sense of a lot of it. Looking forward to part two!

We are living in a bifurcated economy. If you talk to fellow travelers at the airport, the majority will tell you things are great- no recession. If you visit a truck stop and talk to drivers, they will tell you we are in a recession. Unprecedented that we have a huge percentage of excess currency still in the economy despite The Fed tightening. If you trust the numbers, our economy is likely going to go into an official recession by the end of this year as the huge sums of cash diminishes. Inflation isn’t hurting the well-to-do, but the majority, vast majority are hurting. Something like 89 percent of people on social security have no other income - inflation hurts them most of all despite COLA increases. Inflation may subside, but at what cost? Besides, once the economy heats up again, if we don’t reopen refineries and pipelines, drilling, cost-push inflation will hit US again. Our Federal spending is not proportionally increasing our GDP. Wasteful spending is going to continue to add to demand-pull inflation. Some “high tech” workers are landing new jobs but most aren’t. Where are the contractors going? What about college graduates? Where are they finding work. Sadly, our country is facing the largest economic disaster in at least two generations. Our government is letting US down…, hard.

It created a huge wealth gap. If you bought a house and car before 2020, you are way better off than those who haven't. If you buy both a car and house today, you'll need to make twice as much as those before 2020 just to have the same left over money as they do.

Outstanding segment! ...Mr. Pento is right, exactly some of the data & context that many would like to hear discussed, or at least laid clearly on the table. As stated in the discussion, these market "distortions" have been really concerning to say the least. How else would any other interested professional even begin to come to grips with these events? ...At the least, there really are remarkable developments.
