‘Michael Mansfield is the greatest civil liberties lawyer this country has ever produced’ - Baroness HELENA KENNEDY of the Shaws KC

Michael Mansfield, KC, has spent his career fighting injustice, persecution and corruption.
And be it the Birmingham Six, Bloody Sunday, Stephen Lawrence, the Marchioness, Hillsborough or Grenfell, he has come to learn one thing - that people power is unstoppable. Time and again he has witnessed governments, police forces, legal institutions and the establishment, try to block change and maintain the status quo in order to protect their interests. But almost every time he has seen that passion, perseverance, collectivity and courage create a powerful momentum which is increasingly difficult to stop.
In this short but powerful book, the veteran barrister draws upon his 50 years of fighting for justice and revisits his most important cases and clients, proving without doubt that when people get together they can make lasting and positive change. The power is in the people - not the people in power.

I was at this talk. I have a great respect for Michael mansfield, because of his helping the common people to stand up for themselves in the face of adversity. He has given his services and great experience free -of - charge, in many cases. However, there are positive causes in group and some that do not send out positve messages and are un-realistic and damaging our great monuments to get themselves noticed- example STOP OIL. Why, if you think something should end - would you damage and get known only for this damage-it is turning the people against them. When interviewed, their spokeperson's cannot have a sensible conversation about how to stop the heavy reliance on oil and state what alternatives there might be and how to go about that approach- no ideas form stop oil, just destruction. Therefore, I cannot agree with some of his Michael's views because there are people of certain groups- Hanas and terrorist groups, worldwide, who use thier might and not thier brains. Surely, if people come together, it has to be in a effort to get change through talk and peaceful protest, but done where the language is paramoun, knowledgablet and, of an intelligent nature. Not all peoples causes and groups are good.

But wars haven’t stopped, nor the unlawful and illegal ones... I’m self taught in English so perhaps I’ve misunderstood.
