But since you want to be slow its in season 5: Bunk Moreland questions Michael about his stepfather's murder, saying he doesn't blame Michael for having him killed because of the sexual abuse he suffered, but knows that Michael lacked the size and strength to commit a brutal murder like that himself and asks who killed Devan. Michael refuses to tell Bunk anything.

Yeah that was a good line. But not the best. The line I thought was the best is when Avon and stringer had a sit down and Avon said "I anit one those suit wearing type MF I'm just a gangster i suppose. And I want my corners".

6:49 When Michael says "I just want him away from me and Bug, you see Chris look at him. Chris understands what's going on. He gets it. Then immediately says "Alright. We'll take care of it boss." For as ruthless as Chris was, he had a heart. He hated child molesters. He lost his cool on Bugs' dad. That ended up being his downfall.

I knew then that he'd been molested as a kid. Even someone who had seen child molesters in prison wouldn't snap like that just because he hated them. That was personal. He was trying to give a beating to whoever hurt him as a kid

You gotta watch the whole scene the skipped a part when snoops says “what the F he do to you?” And the look Michael gives her let’s Chris know exactly where he’s coming from. I’m a victim of child molestation so i know exactly the rage both Chris and Michael have. It’s something you live for, unfortunately the rest of your life. I pray for everyone who’s gone through it, and death to all who have caused it.

Michael saying goodbye to Bug always gets me. He fought so hard to try and make a life for his brother but realized that his life was fucking Bug's life up.

Chris didn't even believe that Mike was a snitch, he and Michael was mentor and pupil and experienced that same pains.

You can tell by the body language the first time Bug's father returned that he did something horrible to Michael. He's shirtless, steps up to him, gets in real close, camera angle makes him look much bigger, the face touch, and "damn.. you grew". Just an extremely creepy moment.

When Bunk is investigating Bug's father's murder he is looking over his and Michael's file and he calls him a "baby bumping motherfucker". And he mentions that Michaels mother refused to make of police report against him. It's so messed up that the one murder that Chris committed that everyone would agree that guy should be murdered is the one that brought down him and Snoop.

Michael's character arc being an origin story for Omar is some of the best writing ever.

I love that line Michael told his mom. "I ain't paying you to be my mother!" She didn't deserve it, a real mother deserves any help you can give her. That wasn't her!

I can't comprehend of the absolute perfection that is The Wire. Michael Lee is one of many examples why its the best show ever made. Looking back I feel sad for how Michael went down the wrong path, at first he wanted to be straight and do the right thing. No show has ever come close to the Wire. I'm not sure if its the realism, philosophy, grittiness, down to earth nature of writing and filming but The Wire is simply a piece of art that will one day be appreciated at School

What constitutes as a man? Michael never had a childhood, he was devoid of any love and shelter and lost his innocence at an age no child should have to. He was emotionally bottled up and had little or no guidance in life and he fell prey to his environment which is the real tragedy. Michael cared for Dukie, he cared for his little brother and had responsibilities no child should ever have to burden.

The fact this boy been through some fucced up shit, and did fucced up shit to survive and manage to set a better life for his brother - little dude had much respect to E considered a MAN, there's no limit to what a man can't do to make a good name for himself at the end, despite what you do. You gotta look at it that life is short, that's why we get the chance to do all the stuff we do at a young age, but you gotta realize we all grow up and it's the moments and memories we look bacc then that made us the person we is today. Whether he was a "real" gangster, "real nigga", "real rider", he can E considered - A "real" man. I've been through the shit and trust me I know people who did the same but get much respect from a lot of people, it's all about your character and code at the end of the day. The worst thing you can do is lie to people, but it should E a crime to lie to yourself.

A man would leave his friend to a drug house in order to watch his own back

Michael's character was just outstanding, and the scene towards the end of the show when he drops Dukie off and he can't remember the day they threw the balloons at the other kids was easily the most gut-wrenching thing I've ever watched and one of the best written scenes in television history. But out of all of them, I think Randy's story was the most depressing. One of the only kids who could've had a decent shot, especially with how he acted in school and how Carver watched over him and his foster mom, he gets thrown into the system and grows into an angry, violent corner kid. The last scene with him and Bunk nearly made me cry.

Mike, Randy, Dukie and Namond....... some of the best young characters in the history of television.

His story is so heartbreaking in a lot of ways. When bug’s father violated him as a kid he set the ball in motion to fuck up his whole life and ruined his mind. Shattered his belief and trust in older men.

You cut the best part in the Snoop scene, she asked , "how my hair look?", and he replied ,"you look good girl". Then popped her lol

Although Michael didn't like Cutty as a friend, Cutty is the only person both understanding him and caring for him. The way Cutty told him to go with your people is touching. Ironically, Chris can understand Mike's childhood trauma, but Chris didn't care about Michael a friend, Chris just took him as a co-worker, a human-resource.

Also killing people, to Chris is a part of the daily routine. He helped his co-workers by kill someone, just like we help our co-worker doing some errands. Finally, Chirs agreed on the hit on Michael so to save Marlo and his pension in the jail without too much resistance at the end suggests that Michael is just another expandable co-worker in their business.

The clip at the end with Omar saying that Michael is just a kid resonated with me. The Omar and Michael comparison is a way to give origins to figures/characters like them. Michael was a great character. He worked so hard to avoid "the life", but was consumed by it in the end.

It's funny how Chris knew instantly what Micheal was going through. I think they shared something in common on that regard. Even the way Chris killed the guy, that shit was personal.

Michael's story is one of the saddest stories portrayed in The Wire, a story that probably occurs in real life far too often. It's the story of those victims of a society that promotes inequality, the story of those who preserve their moral values against all odds and despite all the injustices suffered throughout their lives. US media and politicians always remind people of the heros in the army, but they always ignore the heroes that arise in the inner city. Thanks to The Wire for giving a voice to those who struggle in our societies and for giving an honest view of our broken system.

Michael was a good kid at heart. He went through so much but he ended up becoming a product of his environment. It's sad cuz this happens to tens of thousands of children in the u.s daily

Snoop always appeared to not care about her looks, she was more of a guy than a girl it would seem. But in the end she, like any other girl, cared about her looks and how her hair looked. Maybe she even liked Michael.

I don't know why they cut that really short but out. It's only 2 lines but it's shows her being humbled a bit before death and shows Mike still has sympothy even just before he's about to shoot a woman in the face.

@@wissam4519 maybe, but snoop could possibly be a lesbian, she mentions thinking about some pussy to bunk when she got pulled over w/ chris. outside this, there is no other evidence to suggest snoop was interested in michael. Snoop also cared about her looks a ton, she just has a different style. Her clothes, for the time, are occasionally fairly high end fashion. remember her outfit on the motorcycle, that bad ass pink jacket? and her hair was indeed impeccable, i'm pretty ignorant on black hair styling but I'd imagine it's not cheap or easy to get your hair like that.

The first interaction between Marlo and Mike was great! He called him a little bitch and Mike stood up to it. Marlo was impressed. “ Big paws on a puppy”

I respect Michael wasn't shook by no one i understood his mindset and definately looked out for Bug no matter what.

yo some people's lives are just so much worser than others. somewhere 30 minutes from micheal, is a rich suburban girl with all the love and support in the world and the only problem is why a cute guy didnt call her back. and then one day, she might see micheal in prison or looking scary, and judge him on why he is the way he is. its sad how the world be sometimes.

I don't have kids but goddamn if the fourth season didn't make me feel like a parent to all of these boys - loving them, worrying about them, mourning the loss of innocence. This show is untouchable.

It's crazy how a character that wasn't introduced until season 4 and was "just a boy" ended up being my favorite character on a show filled with amazing characters.

The look Marlo gives Michael when he says he has a problem he can't bring to anybody else is the only time Marlo has compassion for anybody.

I thought of that comparison too when I first watched the show. Obviously there names. And they both have powerful scenes where they fully cross into that world. Corleone in the restaurant killing the cop and Sollozzo. And after Michael has his step dad killed, standing in the doorway triumphantly looking down at his mom. Chills.

Michael was one of the best characters in a show filled w/ great characters. I saw a lot of parallels w/ Michael and D'Angelo, 2 guys who really didn't belong in "the game" but ended up in it due to circumstances beyond their control. IMHO the most heartbreaking scene of all 5 seasons was when Michael dropped Bug off at his aunt's home. Michael knew he couldn't get out, but was determined to protect his brother.

I feel like Dee had more in common with Neymond. Both didn’t want to be in the game but they came from family that made a name for themselves already. They both felt like they had to live up to that expectation. Neymond was one of the few character in the show that broke the cycle thanks to bunny and bey for seeing the truth and letting him leave the game.

Everything about this show puts it in a class of its own. Every character is so distinguished

The only thing ai didn't like at the end of the show was Dukie. That shit made me shed tears man.

8:14 When Marlo's crew shot Cutty, he showed Michael he really cared about him. Michael was willing to wait with him for the ambulance. Cutty sent him away to go with Marlow's crew. That was the end for Michael. Cutty wanted him to stay but he knows the code of the street. Michael had to leave. So sad.

At 6:20 Michael snapped and went 0 too 100 quick 😂 look how dude looking at him with braids "Everybody just too muthfukin friendly"😂😂😂

When Michael has to leave Bug with his aunt, I swear, I could not hold back the tears. Absolutely one of the most heartbreaking scenes for me

By the end he was one of my favourite characters. Have to admit I was a bit disappointed that he left dukie to become a junkie though.

Michael carried Dukie as far as he could carry him. At this point, tough decisions had to be made to survive. There was no gray area. Michael had to keep on the move as his option. Dukie had to stay stationary to be out of harm's way.

that look of Chris at Michael feeling what's wrong and why bug's dad have to go in that way explains a lot .

They left out those iconic words: "How my hair look Mike?" "You look good girl."

Michael was one of the only characters in The Wire that made Marlo pause. The only times I seen Marlo actually surprised, it was Micheal doing it.

He was afraid of going soft, you see it in the way he reacts to Prez trying to help him in the classroom and the way he reacts to his friends talking about Cutti. I think for Mike his whole life was filled with so many dark things that he couldn't handle people being nice to him, there's a lot of conflict in his character, like a battle between being a good person and being able to survive in his harsh environment. I think that's what makes his character so powerful and sad.

That's why he takes people's kindness as them being too nice and thinking they'll try to do the same thing Bugs father did to him.

One of my favorite character arks of all time. This was such a well written show. The scene where Michael is asking Chris for help. Chris asks why. Michael doesn't say anything. Chris took 1 look at him and knew what was happening. Nothing else needed to be said. Then my suspicions were confirmed when Chris goes full rage mode on Bug's father. Chris was probably abused too when he was younger and that played into him helping Michael. Yes, he wanted to recruit him. But I think Chris would have done it anyway even if Michael didn't join after. And in the end of the series when he becomes the next Omar. Simply amazing

I can relate to Michael cause I was molested as a child and took my anger and everything out on lots of people in the streets. For the longest time I blamed myself for letting it happen and I guess I at times I still do. I look at so many things differently than most people. I never could understand why

I just noticed something else about the scene where Chris and Snoop kill June Bug. When the little kid runs out of the house, Mike is about to shoot him, but he stops, because he knows the kid is innocent. Parallels can be drawn to the time when Omar and Brother Mouzone killed Stringer Bell, and Omar holds his gun at the cowering construction worker, but then leaves the man unharmed. Mike's embodiment of Omar began earlier than most people expected.

If u saw the last episode it shows everybody now are emulating the those from the beginning showing how its all a cycle. For instance, Mike becomes like omar, Marlo becomes a mixture of stringer and avon, Slim charles becomes prop joe, they show two random hustlers who are supposed to be bodie and poot, Chris becomes wee bay, snoop died cause there was no female from the originals to emulate

That stare down from Micheal and looking Marlo in the eye mean a lot in the hood .

The Wire is such a masterpiece. Watching Michaels scenes alone give you a direct perspective on how male figures failed him all around. He was a good dude and tried to be smart but the streets was all around him. Couldn’t trust no one.

What's sad is out of the four boys profiled, Michael had the 2nd best outcome. Randy just became cannon fodder for another gang leader, and Dookie became Bubbles.

No matter how many times I watch the WIRE I am always truly amazed by the acting and realism of the plots.. just a masterpiece

The last scene with Bug wearing his backpack..going to school, trying to the right thing and ultimately has almost no chance to escape....so sad...

The music that starts around 6:30 fits Michael's character perfectly. It has this beautiful and tragic tone throughout, a certain softness and darkness that emulates Michael's character and circumstance. A boy with a good heart forced to make horrible decisions just to help those he cares about. So much pain, yet so much love.

Always wished I had a brother like Michael to look out for me. But heart is heart, don't matter if you are blood or not. If you don't got it, you will never be good at anything. Even being a sibling. Michael had one of the biggest hearts in the game.

Chris told on himself by spitting on the guy after he beat him to death. Saliva is DNA and leaving DNA is equivalent to leaving a note with all of your info on it.

Micheal breaks my heart. We all seen it too many times. He was so traumatically abused that he could not even embrace cutty as a friend. He loves Bug so much he would chew through razor wire to keep him and make certain another man could ever hurt Bug. I pray for the Micheal’s out there who have to take out the entire Marlo crew just to get out of the vicious cycle.

So we've went from shows like The Wire to Empire??? I'd KILL for a season 6 Edit: appreciate the love. Btw, IMO Power is full of overacting and the music takes out any sense of realism from the show. Only reason I compared the two shows is because there are folks out here who are literally trying to compare the shows
