Brother: You are misunderstanding what Saint Paul means by the expression "works": he refers to the Jewish "works of the Law", not works or acts of love for one's neighbor, in which case he would contradict what Jesus himself taught us about the importance and primordial value of love to God and our neighbor, and would destroy the value of living according to the Commandments.

@@itskeagan3004 Faith is certainly a Gift of God's grace (of the greatest importance for sure, because it is the gate to our life in holiness before God), without any merit on our part, but once received it must bear fruit as a free and voluntary decision on our part (God will not force us to do so) to keep it alive and make it fruitful for everyone. through works (actions) of love and mercy toward others.

I like listening to Knowles, he was one of the forces that made me accept God and become a Catholic after most of my life as an Atheist and Buddhist

Wowwww, what convinced You? I am catholic but looked into everything. And finally said, what? No, Holly Eucharist? No true doctora of the Church? No true spiritual armours like Rosary, sacramentals, Blessed water, etc; no true Mass? No true sacraments? No, real Bible? No no-pastor-fullt Jesus centered Church service? No, a Jesús founded Church? That's just all the Christian denominations. I Also looked into paganism like Buddism, New age..... though they presentes like something else. And confussion is not from God.

Michael and Lila are great examples of what catholics should be like.

As a Catholic myself it’s a great joy to see two devoted Catholic experiencing their faith openly ❤🙏

I grew up in the Catholic religion, then started reading the Bible later in life. The Bible reveals the Truth and who Christ is. Religion will only give you an experience that doesn’t save your eternal soul and provides false hope. You will not find the true Christ in the Catholic religion.

My 17 yrs old son introduced me to MK, I enjoy all his interviews and his show on the Daily Wire. My son has been an instrument for me to coming back to the light of GOD. For so long, I was in denial and fell for the new age spiritual stuff. I thought I didn't need God but seeing my son learning about God without me tell him to is a miracle!!!! God works in mysterious ways.

Church history ≠ catholic history. The Catholic Chruch claiming their the OG is fake news. We really should take the great church thinkers back from the RCC. They have appropriated them, but the truth is, those great thinkers would NOT recognize the Catholic Church as Christian.

I love Michael’s interviews. I have a very similar story as Michael. I was raised Catholic and became an atheist through my own pride and stupidity in my early twenties. About a decade later I came back through the grace of God and the Blessed Mother (I also credit my parents saying all 4 mysteries of the rosary daily). My three children were baptized 2 years ago and my marriage was convalidated in the church in May of this year. True freedom lies in following the will of God and not your own. Atheism put me in so much darkness and despair. When I came back God lifted all that. He’s so good and so merciful! I love Michael and Lila. I consider you both friends even though we have never met. Keep doing the work of Our Lord and standing up for the Church and Her teachings! Thank you both for showing us what good Catholic men and women look like! God bless you! Stay close to the Church and the Sacraments!

Christ didn't "found" the Roman Catholic Church. Think about that church's history and you'll realize a Holy God would have nothing to do with it.

@@johnbrowne2170 If you go to the Holy Land you will find that all ancient Christian churches have altars because worship was and is Eucharistic-centered. Does your church have an altar? The Catholic Church gave us the Bible, not the other way around. If you think the Catholic Church is so bad, why don’t you return your Bible and come up with your own? If you refuse to return your Bible, then you are saying that you trust the Bible that the Catholic Church compiled and presented to the world, but you don’t trust the Church to interpret it. What about the Church’s history are you scandalized by? What church do you attend and who founded it? The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ himself, all other “churches” are man-made. Lutheran church Martin Luther, Baptist church John Smith, Mormon Church Joseph Smith, SDA Ellen G. White and Joseph Bates, Calvary Chapel Chuck Smith and the list goes on and on. If you believe that the Church that Christ founded became corrupted, what makes you think that anyone else can build a better one?

I don’t have a Latin mass readily available in my area, but I do attend Novus Ordos with the same amount of reverence. I do stick out a lot because of my veil and receiving on the knees, but I still feel the presence and peace of God after every mass.

Just attended TLM. Packed with young people despite it being noon Friday. Its such a refreshing atmosphere of serenity and humility amongst a distracting, noisy world. A little piece of heaven !

Love the traditional Latin Mass and grateful to Michael for speaking to its unique beauty!

I am a new catholic (a year and a half) and catechism is still very week and very woke ! I became a catholic because I read John 6 and that was it for me! This is the one true Church! God bless you both!

I'm glad you are Catholic, someone who is a master catechist. I have been in both camps. I don't think being catholic makes your faith superior. We have to be careful in doing that. All that matters to God, is Do you love me and do you love others. all the rest is not important.

@@dadjoma Who told you this? Jesus founded a Church in Matthew 16:17-19. Are you saying that he didn’t expect anyone to attend it? He also said that if we love him, we will keep his commandments in John 14:15. He wants us to be Holy 1 Peter 1:15. Anything else is easybelievism and modern “Christianity”. If you go to the Holy Land you will find that the Ancient Christian churches have altars because their worship was Eucharistic centered. Does the church you attend have an altar?

@@nicolasjacquet2460 I attend the Latin mass. At the beginning, the mass was in Aramaic, the language of Jesus. The Chaldean Catholics still incorporate Aramaic in the liturgy :) The Novus Ordo mass is available in your own language and the Latin mass requires a missal that includes the English translation. All Catholic masses in full communion with Rome are beautiful and valid. I recommend attending a Byzantine Catholic liturgy too. It is also ancient and beautiful.

Never hurts to dabble in content by Christians of other denominations. I'm Catholic, but listen to the odd Protestant and the odd Orthodox. While you frequently come across some things you don't agree with, you can often still get a lot of good out of them since there's a substantial amount we do in fact agree on, and sometimes you can get a slightly different perspective on something you already agree with that doesn't contradict the doctrine you uphold. It's one thing if they slander Catholicism, then it may turn into an unfollow, but if they just happen to say something that doesn't align with Catholic teachings I just ignore it if there's a lot of good that they're saying.

@@SuperSaiyanScandinavian Yeah I like to do the same thing and I find it allows you to learn more and be more open minded which is always a good thing! I actually went to a Catholic high school and am currently at a Catholic university, so I’m familiar with it! One thing we definitely all have in common is we’re going through the Christian struggle in a very anti-Christian world. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong with leaning on each other while we still uphold the truth of our faith. In fact I think that’s beautiful that we have love for one another!

@@Beepbopboop19 We pray to God, but we ask saints to intercede for us. It is no different than the way @Vilasiiiii asked for prayers. If you ask a person on Earth to pray for you, there is a chance they may forget or they may not be as connected to God. However, saints are individuals who have passed away and are now in heaven. They will never forget to ask God for assistance on your behalf and they are much closer to Him than anyone currently alive on Earth.

Another great interview! When I met my wife she was fit, friendly, feminine and a virgin. I said to myself "Now that's the kind of woman I'm prepared to go to the ends of the earth for" That was 28 years ago! My lovely wife as raised our four children being at home full time. And even after 28 years of marriage she's still fit, friendly and feminine! When a man loves a woman who love God, his love for her is how he live out his faith in God! An like Michael said divorce doesn't exist in the world of such man!

@@peaceandlove544 ok so I found the faith because when I was 7 I had Musical theater friend who were catholic. One came in with a stack of theology homework and told me about it (she was 10). A few years later I was trying to find something to be apart of. I then had a dream with a voice saying “come home” I felt a warmth that I can’t explain. I then remembered that I was looking for something to be apart of and started looking at churches. When I to,d my parents I wanted to go to a protestant church they said no because I had catholic family, so they took me to a Catholic Church. I felt the warmth I felt in that dream and knew it was right! I was 12 when I started my conversion and I just received my sacraments of initiation on Saturday March 30!

There's nothing so beautiful as a chaste courtship of a pretty girl, a good, sacramental marriage, and a house alive with young children! I appreciate and respect you both, respectively Michael and Lila, and follow you both.

He’s 100% right after my reversion what really hit home was the Tridentine Mass. My husband’s journey to be finally confirmed at 60 started the first time we went to Latin Mass. We are fortunate that our parish is alive and although we don’t have the Tridentine Mass now we have High Mass with many altar boys and very reverent priests and nuns. Thank you Sor Andrea, and the other Dominican Sisters of Fatima, for praying for my husbands Confirmation and first confession in over 45 years and for adopting him as a brother! May we be blessed with many more conversions, reversions and vocations! Edit: we may have been poorly catechized in the 70s and 80s but at least we have a base to build on to return home.

Confession brings so much peace and joy

As an Orthodox Christian, watching Catholics fall away because of the liturgical abuses of the church has been heartbreaking, especially since we in the East have been using the same unchanged liturgy since the 4th century. But, seeing all these young millennials and gen z'ers interested in patristics and tradtion is really encouraging. I truly hope that one day the church can be whole again, but our patriarchs need to watch the movement of the laity and get it together!

After listening to Michael's background, I can relate to him in many ways. He and I share very similar stories. Although, I never left the Church, but I do sin often. I always acknowledge my faults and give confession. His love story with his wife is somewhat like mines too. My wife and I met in High school. Began dating shortly after graduation, been together 13 years overall, and been married 5 years now. I my respects for Michael just went higher. Hopefully one day we can meet up! I believe a great friendship could be built between he and I. 🙏🏽 God bless y'all!! ✝️

Is he though? I like michael and as he is now. But he was basically as redliller women user as they could come from 18-27. I'm glad he is better and espousing good things, but it rings hollow when you got to that and accomplished getting your family by being a weirdo yuppy redpiller.

What a fantastic interview. I know Michael doesn't shy away from his Catholic beliefs, but I really love hearing him speak on Catholicism in long form discussions, rather than just getting the nuggets of his faith that he inserts in his content.

Onetime I felt myself give a heavy sigh after confession burden and worry were gone. So thankful for my faith and brush with grace.

I remember arguing with my boomer grandparents about the value of the Latin mass over the vernacular they’re only retort was always “you can understand the vernacular. You can’t with the Latin.” And I remember thinking to myself “but you guys don’t go to either!“

I have to respect Micheal for admitting his past. I feel like that is something very important that is missing in society. A lot of people have this idea that once you have sinned in surtain areas you are doomed to hell. These people haven't done their research ofcouce but Christianity is welcoming and loving and forgiving. So I'm very happy this is a topic.

I wholeheartedly agree with Michael. As a cradle catholic, my post Vatican teenage years did hardly contain any catechesis. So I fell into sin and Satan kept me in his grips for 40 years. 40 years in the Wilderness. I thank God for that grace.

As a Catholic I've had many moments where my faith wavered when I witness the evil actions of some humans, especially towards animals, children and the elderly. It's so heartbreaking. But, I will never lose my faith in Jesus.

Man I don’t know what to think about Catholicism, I’ve been raised evangelical. But I admire Michael so much and this conversation has made me want to do a deep dive to see which side of the fence I really want to be on! 😂

​@@brycem.4062i was raised nondenominational/evangelical/bapticostal and became Byzantine Catholic (yes we are still catholic, just different liturgy) The thing that got me was reading the early church fathers and seeing that nothing of what I was doing was present in them. They believed in church hierarchy, one universal visible Catholic church, baptism saving, and the eucharist!. Its true that the Catholic church is the first church. Start with Ignatius of antioch

And so my reformed friend, how does a man find a wife in today's culture? They all run off to the charismatic guitar strumming churches. It seems one must strum the guitar so to speak to find a wife, as opposed to being a masculine man with goals lol.

I never became an atheist but I did strayed from my Catholic faith for several years. Then after the ending of a horrible relationship with a narcissistic personality type… I saw the right path had always been there, waiting for me to come back. Thank you God. Thank you Jesus.

The Trinity is in the Bible. At the Baptism of Jesus, hear the words. "I Baptise you in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit." More examples also. Too many to list here. Read the New Testament.

If it weren't for my son's death from cancer at 24yrs old, I would not be a revert today. The Holy Spirit led me back home and Jesus took my son to heaven. Now, I'm on fire for my Catholic faith and attend the LM.

I laughed out loud at the On Eagle's Wings bit - I was raised Catholic & I physically cringe at that song.

Can’t agree more-maybe it’s because I’m a convert but most of the Catholic music from the 60s-80s is so terrible to my ears (choralist speaking here) 😂

I love listening to him wax on about the beauty of Catholicism. I had not realized he was a revert, or how recently that was considering how young he is. But whenever I’ve watched him before, I’m always struck with the apparent depth of his knowledge about serious Catholic topics, I want to ask him how he educated himself about the faith as an adult. Being a revert myself, I feel like a lot of us who do experience God’s Grace calling us back to the religion of our parents, we sort of stumbled back into Mass, back into confession, back to the sacraments sort of haphazardly feeling our way back because we already had all the Sacraments of Initiation, so we just felt it was our birthright, and we could just come back and start practicing again any time. Listening to him talk about the dearth of catechesis in his youth, I’m just curious if he went through any formal instruction in the faith or if he just re-taught himself by reading books or what have you.

Knowles is one person responsible (just like himself) for my reversion to the faith. God bless him. And hopefully through his platform may he influence and speak the truth to more people.

Hi Lila! I would love if you made dating and relationship videos but in the context of marriage, with kids. For example, tips on planning getaway with husband, ideas on simple dates etc I’m sure itll be fun to listen to and learn!

I relate to Michael’s story in that I was raised Catholic and had a poor catechism then became agnostic for many years before returning to the faith. Yesterday my husband and I just received Chrismation in the Eastern Orthodox Church. I feel very blessed for what God has done in my life.

Thank you for having Michael Knowles on your podcast. He is absolutely correct that it is the joy, which Christians exemplify, that is the most compelling reason that people come to the faith or revert back to the faith. The esoteric arguments of Christian philosophers and those dedicated to Christian apologetics was never convincing to me, when I fell away from my faith and became an atheist. It was the void in my heart and the emptiness that I felt that led me back to Catholicism.

For me after confession with a Traditional Priest.... I feel a weight lifted off my shoulders.. it truly is Liberating.

A very Catholic stance says God forgives, the priest stands in for Christ- it doesn’t matter who or how is leading the sacrament.

@@edwardjacklewisthere is a difference on who ministers the sacrament. Priests are not just a wall, they are there to help people. So it does matter how well a priest advises the penitent.

I’m so glad younger Catholics are finding beauty and truth in the TLM. But as a 67 yr old Catholic I must tell you that irreverent TLM masses were offered “Back in the day.” In my Parish Fr. Redford aka Fr. Jet could offer a Sunday TLM in about 25 minutes. It was not a thing of reverence or beauty.

I was so excited when Michael said he went to mass at Saint John the Baptist in Costa Mesa. When we visit my in laws, that’s where I go, and I can confirm it’s a very lovely novus ordo mass. Also, their priests are Norbertines from Saint Michael’s Abbey! Your channel is really featuring them 😊

It is beautiful for me, Italian, to hear you talk about your Italian, Sicilian and Calabrian origins, I was born and lived in Rome and now I always live in central Italy but you made me feel proud to be Italian, today! Michael is right, Sicilians are said to be North African, this is very sad, my eldest daughter's boyfriend is Sicilian, from Catania. Why does the Trinity not appear in the Bible?peace.//.

On Eagle's Wings is literally a psalm from the Bible (Ps 93). One may argue about the musical mode and style, but Scriptural music is very appropriate for the liturgy of the Eucharist.

Great insights from Michael and Lila and love the quick repartee. I agree with Knowles that the TLM, by its very rubrics, help point to the divine and the transcendental. But I'd like to add that in the vast lands of Asia, where languages are very distinct from the latin/roman roots of the Western languages, the vernacular of the Novus Ordo has enabled generations of thousands of converts (I'm thinking of my own family, as well as many of my friends') to worship and pray in the Holy Mass with greater appreciation of what's going on. I'd also be very cautious about putting a blanket description on how the novus ordo is celebrated. In Asia, where rituals and rites are very much part of our culture, our Catholic priests do celebrate the Novus Ordo with a lot of piety and dignity, thus showing us that the Mass is indeed the "mysterium fidei" . And by the way, in our archdiocese, we kneel throughout the entire Eucharist prayer - as laid down by the episcopal conference here. So, when Knowles refers to careless liturgical gestures in the Novus Ordo, perhaps the fault isn't in the novus ordo per se, but lies more in the norms laid down by the episcopal conference, as well as the disposition of individual priest-celebrants.

I have only recently after all my life being atheist and being raised in a religious hating home finally felt what someone has told was the holy spirit, back in june was the 1st experience but i ignored it and thought im being silly, 7 weeks ago it hit me hard but because ive no clue on religion whatsoever ever, i prayed to god to help him find my way and two days later Jehovah's knocked on my door and after a few conversations and watching things on other religions i dont fit with those as i truly believe Jesus christ is god, i have a bible (given to by jehovahs) and now aware it doesnt have all 66 books like the catholic/christian bible, i try to pray every day but i feel like im not doing it like i should be ive been to church once so far but not sure it was my church. feeling a little lost atm but i keep my faith that it will all just make sense and slot into my life like second nature

I'm a confessional Lutheran, which is a very conservative and traditional style denomination, and I considered coming back as a catholic. My biggest problem with other christian denominations including cathocism is what has been added to the scripture. There are things like the priests no being allowed to marry that is not written in scripture. When I returned to the faith, I wanted to find a denomination which answered any question with "what does the bible say?" That is what I found in Lutheranism. Btw we aren't very fond of the elca lol...

The celibacy was an advice that Saint Paul gave in one of his letters. And Jesus talk about the eunuchs for the kingdom of heavens. In a point of his history the Church of Roman rite adopted it as mandatory for who wanted the priesthood. It's a discipline that can eventually change but is totally based in scriptures and God gives the gift of celibacy to the men he call for this ministry. You're always on time to consider coming back to the church that Jesus founded.

I have been attending the Traditional Latin Mass for the past 3 years and it has changed me forever. It is all about Jesus, and what He has done for us. It is sacred, holy and full of truth from my pastors, something the world is desperately needing right now. And to the question about evangelicals, I would add protestants, one of the things I'm most grateful for as a Catholic convert is bible study. We would gather in groups weekly, read the Bible, share our personal experiences and pray for each other. You didn't have be born Protestant to be eagerly welcomed, and baptised (some time was given for consideration). But I really miss that. It was quite inclusive of new comers in a very material way.

I am fortunate to be in the diocese of Charlotte. While in my home parish I do not have available every Sunday the traditional Latin mass, it is available to us every month on Sunday. But I have to say that the Novus ordo Mass in our parish, and in general our diocese, is very reverent. Here at Sacred Heart Parish Mass is always said ad orientum. The 10:30 Mass and the 12:30 Spanish language Mass are a high Mass as in incense, etc. There are always AT LEAST a half dozen altar boys, often more. It is heartwarming to see the older boys helping the little ones who are still learning. All that being said, the Novus ordo Mass is an empty shell of the Mass of the ages.
