I respect Kobe for what he did, but decades later I'm still buying Air Jordan's and not Kobe's shoes. MJ is still the defacto GOAT. Even Lebron got close, but MJ is still the standard everyone uses. No one says "he's the Kobe of ____" or "he's the Lebron of ____" everyone still uses MJ as the measurement of greatness.

He was actually one of the elites at age 40 for sure. Especially for a guy who came out of retirement, smoking cigars and playing golf and gambling. Came back like he still had it in him. That’s why I believe he’s the Goat 🐐. Until I see someone that achieved so much in a less time span and dominate at an era that’s physical with two 3peats and all them accolades/awards like scoring/defensive titles and undefeated finals record, and with that type of skill, athleticism. And have no weaknesses at all. His biggest weakness was shooting 3s and he wasn’t even bad at that either, he was average. But yeah I don’t want to hear there’s someone better. I’m just saying as a player too, not legacy. If we’re talking about legacy’s, his legacy is nearly untouchable. Changing the game, globalized basketball worldwide, got Nike from being the worst shoe company to the best and his head bald lol to where some players did it after him. This is coming from a Sixers fan too and I’m a huge fan of AI. I just can’t be biased.

LeBron is making a strong case as the best basketball player in the history of the NBA. Another title would definitely bolster his case. Look at his stats at the age of 37. No signs of rapid or sharp decline in offensive stats. MJ is still no.1 right now though.

Not only that, Mj had a better career and achieved more in lesser years in the NBA. Plus his accolades proved that he is way better than Lebron. Don't forget Mj once averaged 32/8/8, the time when his coach puts him as a PG and in an era where 3 pts is not really a normal thing back then. Now, if we're really going to question someone who should've been there at the top, it's nobody else but Wilt. He once averaged 50/25/2 for the entire season and might've been the greatest season an NBA player had without winning the NBA MVP!

He was actually still dominating until he got injured. I remember him averaging somewhere around 28 or 29 ppg until he got injured. During that era, due to physicality of the game, reaching at an age of 35+ is already a miracle. That's the reason why the likes of Kobe, Steve Nash and even Dirk can play games regardless of the adversities they faced like Kobe still playing with a broken finger, steve playing with a broken nose, dirk playing with a flu. Nowadays, they're not going to play with even the slightest injury to them and they will be ruled out of the game for at least 2 weeks. 😂

He is slower, jumps lower, the hangtime is reduced. But there is still the elegance, the intelligence and the willpower. With these assets, he has to find new ways to overcome his opponents. Which, of course, he does. In some way, this is like his biggest victory to me, but maybe I am too romantic about this. :)

What's interesting is that a lot of his top plays where game-winners. MJ was all about winning.

No MJ would have been better aat Portland with Pippen and they would have ended the Kobe and Shaq VS the MJ and Pippen talk so they would have shown they still got it and say they were the better duo. NO WAY PHIL GOING TO LA HAD MJ GONE TO PORTLAND WHICH I WANTED TO KNOW WHY DIDN'T HE JOIN A TEAM TO RUB SALT IN JERRY KRAUSE'S WOUND.
