THE best show I have ever seen in my life!!! I met Michael Flatley after a concert I attended in Cleveland, Ohio. I flew from Maryland to Cleveland to see him for I think was the third time. After the show, he was in an Irish Pub with most of his main dancers. Not the ones who appear here, but his original Lord of the Dance cast members. One of them, Daire Nolan, who played the ’bad guy’ in the show. I had seen him in the pub before the show having a Guinness, but it was so packed with so many people, including me, we couldn't not get near him. But after the show, a bunch of us followed his band members who we met on the street with many other fans. They told us to follow them to the pub where they were going to play a set. So, about four of my fellow ”Flatheads” got into this car with ANOTHER fellow Flathead who said,” Let's GO!”. Traffic was unbelievable that night. It was a packed weekend,. Michael’s concert was on Saturday night. The Baltimore Orioles were scheduled to play Cleveland the following day, which made my trip even more exciting. I didn't buy tickets to watch the game, however. My plane back was not scheduled until Sunday night after 9:00. Anyway, after watching the band play their set we high-tailed it back to O’Flannery’s Irish Pub (I can't believe I still remember the name of the pub!), where we went before the show. The place was completely void of fans except for me and three other newly made friends. And Michael was there in the same spot he'd been earlier. Now y'all have to realize Michael Flately concerts were the place to be in the mid-’90s. He wasn't really world-renowned yet until he did the Feet of Flames concert at Hyde Park in London. It was supposed to be a ’one-off’, but because of the demand from fans, he took the show on the road all over the world, as this video depicts. Before he became a worldwide sensation We Flatheads from all over the world had a guest book on the Michael Flately website and it was incredibly alive with posts on the guestbook. I was designated the ”Official Tweetie Bird of Flatelyland”. Someone even made me a pin to wear on my blouse indicating this. (My nickname is Tweetie, or MsTweetie, or Tweets for short.) I was dressed to the nines. Mini-skirt, sheer blouse, and my mink coat, which is still beautiful, BTW. I can be very calculating when I want to be. Michael left the bar area and went back toward the dining room. So I told my friends I was going to the lady's room, which was right around the corner from the bar. Instead of going to the lady's room, I placed my mink coat on the chair Michael was standing against and asked the bartender for an Irish Coffee. I asked the bartender, ”where is everybody was (meaning fans), and he told me the phone was ringing off the hook from fans who wanted to know if Michael was there. They were telling him no. Hence no fans except four of us. So, I was sitting there with my leopard print mini-skirt and swiveled my chair around and I couldn't believe who was walking towards me. It was Michael!! He was smiling as he walked towards me and actually introduced himself! Of course I knew who he was! I introduced myself to him and told him I had flown in to Cleveland to see him. THEN he gave me a great big hug! When I told him about my status on the Flatelyland website he seemed confused. THEN Daire Nolan shows up and after introductions were made confirmed that he was aware of the guestbook on his website and that it was HUGE! And insanely popular. When Michael learned of this after he saw my pin, he scooped me up in his arms and gave me this BIG BIG HUG! Which got Daire to laugh like crazy. I had a full 45 undivided attention minutes with Michael Flately. You can't make this stuff up! My friends ultimately left. I stayed until I got thrown out (kidding). The owner of the pub said they were closing (Michael had a working dinner meeting after hours), so he asked me if he could call me a cab, which he paid for. He also, after he learned my flight home wasn't until after 9:00 the following day invited me to come by around 1:00 the next day to watch the baseball game and have dinner on the house. He made me an offer I could not refuse. When I got back to my hotel room I couldn't believe I actually had a ”Michael Moment” as we Flatheads called it on the guest book. I had a wonderful day on Sunday and stayed until I had to go to the airport to catch my flight. The Baltimore Orioles lost the game against Cleveland, BTW. Needless to say it was probably one of the best experiences of my life. I had gotten his autograph the year before after seeing him in Lord of the Dance at George Mason University in Virginia, and after standing in the freezing cold at the exit of the venue, which I have photos of. I pushed my way to the front and he signed my program book, which I still have. I have a laminated copy of his autograph including some other pictures that two of my Flathead friends offered to do in exchange for copies of the photos that were taken. I wish I could show that autographed photo here! Michael is retired now but his shows are still running all over the world. He's choreographed masters in Irish dance his moves who are as perfect in their performances that Michael was. Oh the memories!!

Great story! My sister danced with him as the lead “bad girl” for a while on tour then went on to do the show in Vegas for a few years. As a musician for Irish dancers, I travel a bit, and I got to meet the cast there. We had a party after a show at their apartments and I played for them for hours. Great kids, Michael is a great guy.

Michael not only invented this new style of Irish step dancing, he brought it to a whole new level for the world to enjoy. I do not think anyone will ever surpass his inventiveness and artistry.

I had the chance to see a live show of the Lord of the Dance once in my country! All the concert we had chills and unbelievable emotions. It was great and magical! Michael Flately is a genius such as all his dancers! Love from Lebanon.

Была на их концерте в Израиле,два часа прошли за одну минуту,чуть не плакала, ещё и расстроилась что не он а его ученики, потом уже дома вспомнила сколько мне лет,а он старше и наверное уже не разъезжает,стало ещё больнее😁🤭,пропала мечта молодости его увидеть,но всё равно классно выступают

Была на концерте 20 лет тому назад, он ещё молодой был. Сидела как завороженная, так быстро время пролетело, жаль было уходить. Они до короны часто приезжали к нам на гастроли, все собиралась ещё посмотреть новый коллектив, да тут корона началась.

I love watching everyone of those Women and Men dance I feel so happy just to watching them. Michael Flatlet is supper.

Michael Flatley, you are insanely talented, God gave you a gift and you did what He wanted with it, you literally took off and ran with it… you have sooo much talent in those feet 👣 it’s almost unbelievable… I can watch you for hours and never stop.. my heart ♥️ explodes and beats harder than I can believe…. I really love Irish dancing and Irish music. And Celtic tunes and motives, as if from a long forgotten dream. I also like Celtic legends about the Sids, Tuatha De Danann, also something very familiar, I even feel my own in it. No, I'm telling the truth, several years ago when I was talking loudly on the phone on the mountain, I had to raise my voice a little and a large stone cracked from this, and the sound came as if from a torn thick door spring. Then I realized something, like an inspiration, forgot about the telephone conversation and went to look at a large stone and a crack in it. For some reason, I immediately remembered about the Banshee and saw below the fishermen scattering by the river, as it turned out, due to the fact that I was talking loudly on the phone, a childhood friend said that I scared the fishermen with this. And when I watched your wonderful performances many times, I saw legends come to life, stories that are combined into one big History.

I love how the dancers are not all the same height, sending out the message that world class dancing is not restricted to being a physical type. Sure they are all clearly healthy which anyone can be, but this team are individuals with supreme unity.

I'm still utterly blown away by this man and his talent, and i have been since i very first saw Riverdance on tv. It's love to see it live. Lord of the dance is one of my all time favourite hymns, since i was about six!
